I hired General Services USA through Thumbtack site and on February 22, 2022 I signed a contract with ********************* to renovate a space. I paid a non-refundable deposit of $1,800. Subsequently I paid 3 more deposits for a total of $9,000. The pro started the project on March 5, 2022 and started to be evasive when I would ask questions about the job. On March 7th I asked him a question regarding the some concerns I had and he got fully belligerent and proceeded to tell me to not ask stupid questions and let him do his job. I asked him to give me a schedule of when he would be in my house to work and he told me the month of March but would not give specific days and times. I told him I would prefer a Mon-Fri work schedule 9-5 at which point he that he does not work for me and I cannot tell him what time to show up for the project. He also told me not to ask him any questions about the project and I told him I cannot work with someone that will not allow me to have an opinion on my own project. At the end of our conversation, I told him I could not work with him further and I was canceling the contract and expect a refund of $6K. I am attaching a file with some of our text conversations. as well as the contract and payments made. I requested a statement from **** to detail purchases made on behalf of the project as well as labor charges. To date he has not responded. Thumbtack tried to reach out to him as well, but he refuses to work with them. He only put in 2 days of labor on the job and the only materials left behind were some lumber, a toilet, 2 doors and some nails.
