My *********** have been homeowners for 40+ years. We have used multiple contractors. This is THE MOST PROFESSIONAL company we have ever hired. Bear Mountain's concrete coating crew: *****, *************** were EXCELLENT! I was contacted every morning by ******** to give me an update on what time the crew would be arriving and what to expect. He checked in with me after every days works was completed.EVERY DAY, the crew cleaned up before they left. Other companies could learn a lot if they conducted business as professionally as BEAR MOUNTAIN. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I highly recommend them & look forward to using them in the future should we need their other services.Bear Mountain Custom Painting Response

Bear Mountain provided quotes for various projects and presented them to me verbally as quotes. Through a DocuSign-type system, I signed the quotes quickly without reviewing them in detail as they were described to "lock in the price." Bear Mountain representatives were unable to explain what the final structure would look like, consistent misrepresentation (representative consistently forgot details about the project), or failure to understand the details of my project; we decided to go with a different contractor. I was later contacted by Bear Mountain asking for a deposit and let them know we'd be going a different route; I was then informed that they would collect either a 20% cancellation fee or apply the deposit to other scopes of work. Bear Mountain had not started work, scheduled work, ordered material, or incurred any costs. I felt tricked (misrepresentation of a quote that turned into a contract) and pressured (late-night texts from the sales representative and multiple phone calls) into signing what I thought was a quote. I was then faced with either a legal battle, in which the Company was prepared to bring a suit against me and recover money from me for work not completed, pay them off (terminate the contract), or have them (assumed subcontractor) conduct work that I didn't feel confident that I'd be happy with. I agreed to apply the 20% cancellation fee to exterior paint, siding/rot remediation, and gutters. The Project Manager was not communicative on details and did not conduct an initial project overview. The Project Manager explained that he is running up to 10 crews and "it is impossible to be present once a day." During the project, an additional ~$2,800 in missed remediation was incurred. The Project Manager kept repeating, "We don't typically include this in our work," indicating that it was normal for them not to remove gutter hardware when the gutter system was being replaced.Bear Mountain Custom Painting Response

We are surprised by this client's review as worked with them to clear up any and all confusion about their contract and work scopes. The work that was completed on this project does meet Bear Mountain's standards of high-quality workmanship. We are sorry to hear that this client was ultimately not satisfied with the overall experience. It is determined that we are not the best fit for this client and we wish them the best of luck with future projects.Review from Steven C

Subject: Unpleasant Experience with Bear Mountain Painting Company I am writing to share my recent experience with Bear Mountain Painting Company, and unfortunately, it has been quite disappointing. When I initially contacted the company to inquire about deck stain and rotten wood replacement, they sent their Sales representative, *****, to assess the situation. During the survey, I expressed that I wasn't certain about the extent of wood replacement required, but I wanted all the rotten wood to be replaced and the deck to be stained.Devin later stated that 18 pieces of wood needed replacement, and I agreed to move forward with the project. However, on the day of the work, I was shocked when *****, the project in-charge, informed me that they had only accounted for 11 pieces in the quote. He claimed that they found an additional 16 pieces of rotten wood that required replacement. This inconsistency in the initial quote raised concerns for me. It made me question whether Bear Mountain Painting has a lack of accurate estimations or if they intentionally provide lower quotes initially to lure customers in, only to charge more later on.When I reached out to **** for clarification and resolution, I felt that my concerns were not adequately addressed, leaving me feeling frustrated with the overall experience. As a result, I am determined not to work with Bear Mountain Painting Company again in the future.I believe clear communication and accurate estimates are essential in any business transaction, and unfortunately, my experience with Bear Mountain Painting did not meet these expectations.Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. I hope that sharing this feedback will help improve their services and prevent similar issues from arising with other customers.Bear Mountain Custom Painting Response

Unfortunately, we are not surprised to see this review - as this Client threatened to leave negative reviews multiple times throughout the project as a negotiating tool for free / discounted work. This Client also became extremely upset and cursed at our employees when told there was additional rotted wood found after the 2nd inspection. Our Sales Consultants find more rotted wood than competing companies - however they are only able to quote rotted wood that they are able to identify from the ground level. Our crews then do a secondary inspection once the job starts to ensure that Clients have the opportunity to replace rotted wood unseen this is completely optional. We are a straightforward company and to be accused of "bait-and-switch" tactics is insulting to say the least. Ultimately this Client refused to replace the additional rotted wood and we completed what was contractually agreed upon. We feel that we are not a good fit for this Client, but we sincerely wish them the best of luck with their future projects.Review from Josh L

Sales team was impressive, upsold me on a long list of items that needed done at my house ... extensive painting, screened porch, etc. He told me during the quote that they charged up to 50% more than other companies, but he sold me on the personal attention and customer service I would receive, including an attentive project manager. There wasn't a step in the process done right. They no-showed several times, were late to work, often stayed unusally late in the date when they did show. The project manager was non-existent and failed to show on more than one occasion despite me taking time from work to meet him. I was promised return phone calls from several people that I never received, including a call from the owner (not my request, what I was told). They literally painted my house the wrong color (which we remedied) despite a signed color document I approved and despite me begging for the project mgr to meet me to discuss the project. The list of missteps is long. There is literally work still undone because I wanted them off my ******************* seem capable but they never seemed to know the scope of the project. I'm sure Bear Mountain is more capable than what my experience demonstrated. But I had a poor experience and I will not use them for my next project.Review from Frederick R

Contracted painting services in 8/21 part of a larger neighborhood project.Elected to have window trim repainted, after covering quote with supervisor, all contract points addressed, contract included 3 hours of scraping and removal of old paint, and new application.Old paint from builder never scraped, and they attempted the first coat after a thunderstorm with wet surface. Ghosted the job 3/4 of the way complete. Contacted the office and supervisor numerous times, had to withhold final payment for 3.5 weeks until someone finally came back fro finish. Paint started peeling less than 2 weeks after initial application. Fast forward 9 months, all windows peeling, due to not scraping the old paint as the initial contract indicated. I called to enlist 3 Yr ALL workmanship guarantee warranty and warranty manager viewed the job, agreed to fix. BMCP sent warranty denial notice the following week with a new quote roughly the same amount as the prior job, indicating their warranty didn't cover past work? They were the only company outside the builder to paint the windows. Other folks in the neighborhood having the same issue with warranty. Shady.Bear Mountain Custom Painting Response

We are surprised by this rating change, as this client previously left us a 5-star review on another platform. Bear Mountain does not warrant peeling paint that comes down to bare wood because it indicates failure of previous coatings and not the coating Bear Mountain applied. For this client, we indicated that the peeling paint is failing under the original primer coat and Bear Mountain didnt build this house this client will most likely be dealing with this issue from the time he owns the house. We have one of the best warranties in the painting industry in Georgia poor workmanship / quality from the builder cannot be transferred to Bear Mountain. Sounds like the same issue with poor workmanship / quality if other people in the neighborhood have similar issues. We recommended to scrape the peeling paint, spot prime, and repaint the windows for a heavily discounted price our offer was ultimately declined. We executed what was in the contract even though payment was late / refused until touch-*** were complete. We wish this client the best with their future home improvement projects.
