I purchased Cabinets for a simple mini-bar installation through Cabinets To Go (G2G)I paid C2G upfront on May 30th for mini-bar Cabinets and the subsequent installation.C2G advised that their installers could install the Cabinets plus any other extra work I needed to finish the job (plumbing, electrical, etc.) I was told to negotiate the extra work directly with the installer.Unbeknownst to me, Transcend Renovations is a Subcontractor not of C2G but a Subcontractor of Install Right (I-R). Basically, this job was twice subcontracted.C2G and I-R sent a fraudulent subcontractor to my home.Neither company had done any vetting of Transcend Renovations or owner **** Smithsons experience or licenses. Neither company had even confirmed the physical address of the business. His Business' listed physical address is fraudulent. I paid C2G $5K and Transcend Renovations $1K upfront for what I thought was a respected brand, risking the safety of me and my family to strangers (with no background check) in my ******* date, the job isn't *************, almost every piece of cabinetry has damage. The damage was there at delivery, or caused by his inexperienced men attempting to learn on the job.******** was teaching them how to put the cabinets together in my home.I had to tell one guy he wasn't installing the doors on a flat surface. He Installed the base cabinets at a slant causing the marble installer to incorrectly set my marble top.Transcend incorrectly installed the electrical outlets and the cabinet pull, refused to install the lights (citing he didn't know how to do a basic puck installation) and never did the plumbing.********, as a ***** would do, has refused to refund me my $1000, texting "God bless you" as his response.I want a full refund and to warn others about letting a fraudulent con-man enter their home. Even if he changes the company name people should know NOT to do business with **** ********. Per ****** reviews, I'm not the only victim.

The images attached outline the following services that were paid for by ****************************************************** Quarter round install (to go across the front of the base cabinet)
      > Pull handle install
      > Haul off/cabinet disposal
      > 1 outlet extension beneath countertop
      > Cabinet Lock Installation ( also provided by customer)
      > Plumbing Disconnect & Replacement
      > Project ******************* where I coordinated with other trades (her granite supplier to ensure the project ran smoothly. I also work with the light company she chose to have the fixtures shipped in from two coordinate the schedule for efficient installation timing. This includes material acquisition as needed.

Ms ******* received all of the aforementioned services except for the custom lighting install. While on the phone with the customer service team of the manufacturer she chose for this product, it was determined that the installation was beyond my scope of work. I immediately let Miss ******* know that she chose an item beyond my field of expertise and I was uncomfortable with the installation.
$125 was refunded to her for this service. She told me that even though she accepted the check, she would not cash it because she wanted to see how much it was going to cost to have an electrician to do the job. I gave her the courtesy of coming out when the electrician was on site. He quoted her $500. She threatened me by saying if I didn't pay for it, she would report me and get much more back. She proceeded to ask for the entire $900 back for the inconvenience. Please see the attached text messages.

In total, before the $125 refund, Ms ******* only paid $925 for the service package. I stated to her it was discounted because she was referred to us by Cabinets To Go and we were already doing other services in relation to this project.
I have tried to attach the most relevant Digital Receipts/text messages that focus on these points, but the BBB platform only allows 4. Let me know if more information is needed.

As always, your time and attention

      Customer response

      09/17/2024

      Complaint: 22267506

I am rejecting this response because his response is as untruthful as the business address he gave to the GA Secretary of State, Cabinets to Go, and Installed Right.  What is also clear is I am not the only customer he lied to about his ability and experience.  She never got her refund either.

Since the day he came to my home, he only wanted to get photos and my signature so he could submit it to Cabinets to Go and get his share of the $1950.00 payment disbursement for the cabinet installation.  Since the job is not complete, I refused to sign the paperwork, but he took photos anyway.  Based on his lies its safe to say, had **** gotten my signature, I would have never seen him again.  He currently has $1050 from me: $925 is from the invoice, and another $125 I zelled him when he offered to install the **** outlets.   He has only satisfactorily completed one item on the list.  Let's go over the list I shared which shows what is actually on the paid invoice:
-Electrical Custom Lighting 3 tier - He was given a simple basic puck light and under-cabinet light installation.  Status: He refused to do it, stating he didn't know how.
-Add 1 outlet beneath the countertop - Outlets were installed improperly
-Plumbing - one sink and faucet.  Status:  Sink is not installed and faucet is still in the box
-Cabinet lock install - Installed crooked
      -Quarter round - not installed
-Pull Handle Installation - every pull except ONE is not level
-Haul off base cabinets - completed (my man could have done that)
-Work not on the invoice (perhaps not reported as income?):  2 **** outlets - Not installed properly and not working.
So regarding the $1050 I paid **** upfront that job isn't halfway started.  Per numerous texts and in person I told **** unequivocally, that I would NOT accept his offer of $125 until I obtained quotes from another electrician.  I received two quotes.  One for $500.00 and one for $250.  Again, Lamps Plus and both guys said it was a basic installation that any electrician should have been able to do.

Clearly, he had no intention of doing the work I paid him $1050 directly for. Because, he refused to do part of it botched two line items, and has not refunded me for the rest of the undone job.

Regarding the Cabinets to Go portion, he botched the installation scratching and drilling improperly in the wood.  He mentioned that Cabinets to Go owed me a paint and touch up kit and I should ask for it. He never mentioned that they had damaged the cabinets, installed the pulls crooked and the base cabinets crooked.  When I pointed it out to him via phone, in his faux  "kind Southern Gentleman" personna, he said, "I forgot to mention it."  In the meantime Cabinets to Go ordered replacement doors and more for the items I initially saw.  Since going over the work with a flashlight I don't see any section that wasn't damaged either upon arrival or via his poor installation.

To date the services I paid him $1050 directly for are not completed, and the partial work was faulty and/or not done in a workmanlike manner.  The **** electrical outlets are not installed properly, the plumbing is still in the original box, the drawer pulls are all crooked and the cabinetry is damaged because his inexperienced crew didn't know how to put the pulls in nor properly attach the doors.

Lastly, to be clear I don't appreciate anything he did.  From day one I told him I was concerned with his high pricing, but he assured me he had the expertise to back his pricing.  Not wanting any drama as I travel, I contracted with him.  He pretended to be a high value expert contractor and the puck lights are a basic installation according to two electricians I showed the job, and according to the manufacturer.  I paid for custom lighting in our contract but it's a standard basic job.  He is a fraud. Please add my complaint to your public website.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******

      Business response

      09/23/2024

Prior to my first response to these allegations, I called into the BBB for advice on how to move forward. This customer and this case are still under investigation by the company I was doing the work for. I understood that the time sensitivity of the situation required immediate action. At the same time, after having spoken to this customer, my employer, and the countertop fabricator Ms ******* hired, I knew any response would add fuel to a highly combustible situation and probably send the customer deeper into the on going mud slinging.

My employer and the customer's selected countertop fabricator (******) have both reached out to me to let me know this customer has also lashed out at them and is very difficult to work with. Cabinets To Go and Installed Right representatives let me know that the customer is trying to get the cabinets for free also. The countertop fabricator Ms ******* hired, called me to let me know that she refused to pay him and kept trying to get reductions in the price even though he had already given her the best discount he could and they agreed on price prior to the work having been done. This is one of the same tactics she tried with me. She held on to the money long after his services were rendered, just as she would have with me had I not asked for up front payment . Ms ******* will not hear reason or be fair about the situation to any degree. Unless it results in her getting all products and services for free. Outside of the materials being delayed due to the selected cabinets and Logistics of the company, Ms ******* created further delays by pushing the install date back several weeks at a time, on multiple occasions. The customer did disclose that she worked for an airline and was out of the country often. During our early conversation, I let it be known that I would do my best to fit into her schedule based on our availability at the time. The customer blames me for material delays and other things beyond my control. Please review the attachments and see this situation from a different perspective. The BBB platform only allows four to five attachments at a time. I'm happy to provide nearly 35 if allowed. It is not my intention to turn this into a novel, but there is a lot to unpack with this situation. I'll do my best to keep it simple and stick to the point. I do not seek to agitate things further or insult the customer], though those methods are being used against me.

In this industry, out of 100 customers we expect that at least a few of them will try to cheat the system by unscrupulously obtaining products/services for free. We also are well aware that not all contractors do their best to provide quality customer service. We work to be a step aside from both. This is why I created Transcend Renovations LLC. We are a small company that partners with larger companies and specialists to complete a variety of tasks and renovation projects. We are consistently taking training to improve ourself and the relationship with our partners. When I go into a customer's home, I introduce myself as a Project Manager. This is my title and capacity while working on site. Other business owners and years of experience have taught me that it is detrimental to introduce myself as the Owner when I walk into a customer's home. Among other things, it often makes me a target for manipulators. I also do not put my home address/home office on the internet for scammers and opportunist to pray on. I use the business mailing address, as is within my right. To that point, though I have never spoken to this customer about my personal life or the infrastructure of the company. This person has gone above and beyond to cheat the system. ******************** Agreement was terminated early though several of the services were rendered prior. I am happy to provide the signed service agreement and images of those things that are complete, as well as the correspondences that have led up to now. When I completed the service call with the electrician that Ms ******* requested a quote from, he mentioned that the lighting system had some redundancies and couldn't be done the way she wanted so he had to add in some additional wire runs for it to operate properly. This is why he gave the price of $500. I was there the entire assessment. Together, we went over every aspect of what the customer was requesting. He agreed that there are simpler lighting systems that would have accomplished the very same result. Simpler doesn't aways mean lower in quality. The system she chose just had redundancies that inflated the cost because they complicated the process. They didn't optimize functionality at all. As it relates to electrical, the outlets installed were tested and inspected upon completion. The customer also ensure they were working properly before we left the site that day. On top of that, during the assessment with her electrician (nearly a month later), he used the outlet as well. This customer is saying she had these different people come in and test things and move things around in an attempt to inflate the refund amount. When I handed Miss ******* the check for $125 as a refund for the electrical portion of the work, she stated she would accept it, but would not cash it until she found out how much more it was going to cost to have another contractor come out. We don't control what other people charge. Customer and I had this conversation before she ever signed the service agreement. It was understood and it is in writing that we do not cover the cost of other contractors. And it voids the warranty when the customer or other contractors manipulate work we have done.

The customer said that the sink was not installed, in the attached image, one can clearly see the sink is installed. The customer claimed that the k**** were crooked, and she put a level up against it showing that it is straight . The replacement parts for the item that came in defective and the glass door that we had to replace arrived and my team went to the warehouse to pick it up. We were set to complete the installation for the customer. She declined to have us come out and install the faucet and door. When it came time for the refund that was due, it was done promptly and professionally. When my teammate accidentally drilled the hole in the wrong place, the replacement part was ordered promptly and professionally. I have done everything I can to resolve any issue that came up with professionalism and common courtesy. I am grateful to have had this experience, it has been an eye-opening one to grow on. I wish the best for this customer. This is far longer than I anticipated, but hopefully I have addressed each point. Thank you for your time and attention. Let me know if any further information is needed.

      Complaint: 22267506

I am rejecting this response because the fact remains that he was hired and paid to do a job that he did not complete due to his inept ability to perform the work in a workmanlikemanner, his refusal to do the electrical,  and the work needing to be redone and new cabinetry being ordered because he damaged it.  Cabinets To Go is a separate contract.  Our contract is different than my contract with Transcend Renovations.  Additionally, the ongoing gaslighting and projection by **** ******** in an attempt to deflect from the fact that he did not complete the work is scandalous.  The counter top installer - correction MARBLE installer and the manufacturer received their $3000 in full.  I had an issue that he should not have installed the tops onto the walls but directly onto the cabinets.  That is an improper installation and he admitted that it isn't supposed to be done that way.  He Installed the marble to the walls because AGAIN Transcend Renovations didn't install the cabinets properly and he didn't want to have to come back with his crew at a later date.  **** boasts of being a general contractor and managing crews and he wasted the marble guys time (money) as well.  But again his bringing up CTG and the Marble guy is called Narcissistic Triangulation and a deflection from the facts.  **** is insinuating that I am asking for a double refund.  I am asking for a refund from CTG for the installation and a refund from Transcend for the extra work I contracted him for that was NOT performed.

And once again, I'm not the only person he did this to.  ****** is free and the internet is forever.  I already attached her review showing that he pulled this same trick on her.  She never got her money back.

Now if he was an honorable man as he tries to pretend, he would admit:  I didn't do X and y and here is a check for it.  But he is a *****.  Clearly, he is the one who has a record of criminality.  Not me.  I own a home and paid well over $10k cash for this botched job. He doesn't own anything.  So Everyone has been paid by me. Period.

None of this gaslighting will hold up in a courtroom.  And neither will it in a court of public opinion.  So please tell **** to focus on my contract and complaint that I filed directly with him.

i will not accept anything less than a full refund for the list of actions I previously wrote that are NOT completed.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******

I initially came into contact with Transcend Renovations through a cabinet installation company when I was getting my kitchen remodeled. I was told that the work included simply taking out the old cabinets and putting in the new cabinets. I hired Transcend Renovations to do additional work based on that information. In total, I paid them $3,609.00. There was not a task that they did that was done correctly: measuring the cabinets, uninstalling and reinstalling appliances, hanging a shower door, supply and install support brackets to my kitchen counter, and electrical work. Eventually, the shower door was hung correctly. I had to hire someone to hook up the gas line to my stove, a task I paid TR, **** to complete. I begged for over a month for them to repair the electrical mistake. The electric in my home was functioning properly before TR, **** relocated the outlets and switches in my kitchen. I know this with 100% certainty because I had a home inspection prior to purchasing the home. Everything was fine. They demanded more money before they would come out to correct the mistake they made. I ended up having to fire Transcend Renovations and hire other professionals instead. Transcend Renovations advised me on April 1, 2024 that they would issue me a refund for the tasks they did not perform. Their direct quote is as follows: The check you receive from our office is for the services we were not able perform. I wish you all the best. May *** direct your path. I have yet to receive any money from them. I have had to pay an additional $800-$900 dollars to complete and repair the damage caused by this company and will need to pay additional money for tasks yet to be completed (install plumbing&electric to kitchen sink, garbage disposal, and dishwasher) with quotes anywhere from $650-$1250. This is on top of having to pay additional funds to eat out since I still do not have a fully functioning kitchen due to Transcend Renovations mistakes. I just want my money back.

I'm sorry that this client had an unpleasant experience. I understand that it can be frustrating transitioning into a new home during a divorce procedure. She was voluntarily vocal about what was going on during that time and the emotional state that came with it. One day when we asked how she was doing , she looked glaringly and said she wanted "to punch everyone in the face." We aimed to make this process one less thing to worry about. Our team worked hard to accommodate every request (even when unreasonable) for this client. Even after we were warned about her, we still tried to help. She made multiple changes to the scope of work during each stage. It often caused us to have to undo portions that were already complete. We adjusted our full schedule to assist in her transition. At least six times we arrived on site during scheduled appointments only to find out the client didn't have the necessary items or appliances for our team to complete the task. She had other contractors working in the home that broke our equipment. She had her father doing electrical work in the kitchen prior to us touching any outlet. We explained to her that during a general home inspection, they are not checking voltage. They are checking to see if the outlet works. As for the gas connection , it was explained prior to the signing of the service agreement, that we are not a gas company and since it was capped off and we did not disconnect the gas line, a gas professional from the company should check it prior to connection . There is a lot more that could be said and digital receipts that could be released, but the point has been made. This response is only intended to show that we went above and beyond to help this customer and at every opportunity, she twisted and manipulated the situation. I'm sorry that she's hurting and lashing out at us. We wish her all the best.

    Complaint: 21740024

I am rejecting this response because: there is no resolution to the problem, only excuses as to why the work Transcend Renovations was supposed to do was not completed nor done correctly. Was I going through a divorce? Yes. Was I upset? Yes. My frustration only grew with each mistake that Transcend Renovations made. These mistakes continued and still continue to delay my kitchen being completed seven months later.
I do not know how to respond to the appliance issue mentioned by Transcend. in fact, I'm not 100%certain what **** is referring to unless he is referring to the refrigerator. It was dented and needed to be sent back to the supplier. It took several weeks for me to get a new one. That being said, I sent Transcend several requests asking for him to install it, the microwave, stove, and hood. I was met with, yeah, well get you on the schedule. In fact, the dishwasher is still not installed because the company that initially referred Transcend to me is still cleaning up TRs mistakes.
I requested for over a month that Transcend come out to repair the electrical mistake made by their company. They wanted me to pay extra before even coming out. I refused to pay additional when the job I already paid them to do was not done correctly the first time. My father, a licensed electrician visiting from ************ over the holidays, installed lighting to the kitchen and rest of the house. He did not touch the kitchen outlets, as there was not a wall there at the time. Guess what? The lights that my father installed work.
As far as the additional contractors being in my home, it was a good thing they were there. They ended up repairing a few mistakes made by Transcend. They repaired and painted over a huge hole put into both sides of a wall while Transcend was doing the electrical work. They repaired newly installed bathroom tiles that ******************** drilled into because the template to my shower door "was wrong."
I did not once change a design. In fact, it was ******************** who needed to make changes because he didn't measure properly. Now, the kitchen I have and paid $30K for and have to live with is not the kitchen I designed. This is because of Transcends measuring mistakes.
I welcome any invoices and service contracts that I signed. It will only reinforce the fact that I paid ******************** money for services that were not completed. These are the same services I am having to continue to pay other contractors to repair and complete. Regardless of what is being said, ******************** agreed to refund my money over two months ago. I still haven't seen a dime.

    Sincerely,

    **********************

I wish Ms *** all the best in future endeavors. I was asked to reply on this platform not to for the sake of argument, but only to offer perspective. We can only take responsibility for those things within our control. Customers often don't understand or have no interest in all that transpires behind the scenes. Coming in as a subcontractor on the aforementioned project, we do not control delivery times, material acquisition or personnel availability.

Listed below are the task completed by my team and I on the Transcend Renovations staff.

    1: Cabinet Demolition
    2. Cabinet Haul-Off & Landfill Drop
    3. Kitchen Plumbing Disconnect (dishwasher, sink drain, garbage disposal)
    4. Vinyl Flooring Removal
    5. Appliance Removal (range microwave, wired cabinet lighting, ************* electric stove seen in attached image)
    6. Vent-hood assembly & Install
    7. Frameless Shower Door Install
    8. Kitchen peninsula wall demolition & development (to include lowering 3 outlets and moving one combo switch set)
    9. Kitchen Cabinet Installation ( set to the height of customer's pre-existing wall cabinets, as requested. Then, a mouth later, the customer changed mind after the install was complete and Customer Satisfaction Form was signed).
    10. Appliance placement (refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher)

After working with admin to adjust schedules, project timelines, pricing, and several other accommodations, the end result was dismal. Several things not going right around the same time period created and unpleasant experience for the customer and all parties involved. And I'm truly sorry this wasn't a pleasant experience for the customer.
Over all, it caused ******************** to lose a valued customer, contract and partnership.
The Transcend Renovations retail price for all the work completed on that project is valued at $8,279. The discounted cost that the customer received was approximately $3,600. Due to the escalation of this particular assignment, Transcend Renovations lost a total of $12,983.54. On top of that, a valued partnership which would have netted approximately ****** a year. Ms. *** has won the battle and the war that I never wanted to participate in. I wish her peace and success in life and relationships. God bless.

I am rejecting this response because: again, nothing has been resolved. I paid for services not performed (gas line to stove, dishwasher installation, garbage disposal installation, plumbing hook up to sink and dishwasher).I also paid for three countertop support brackets I did not receive.

I had to hire another company to repair the damage TR did to my electrical outlets. Repeatedly, ******************** advised me that they simply lowered the outlets and did not rewire them. Luckily, I have photos sent by him contradicting that.

Additionally, I had to hire a company to hook up the gas line to my stove. This is something I paid TR to complete. Only after taking my money did ******************** tell me he couldn't complete the task. I will have to hire another company to complete the plumbing work TR did not complete.

I never once changed my mind about having a countertop height bar area. I am uncertain what ******************** is referring to.

If ******************** with Transcend Renovations was removed from his partnership with the cabinet installation company that referred ******************** to me its because they did not perform the work they were hired to do correctly. I can attest to that.

Bottom line. Transcend made a mistake when wiring my kitchen outlets. I asked them to correct the mistake for over a month. They refused unless I paid additional monies. I fired them before they could finish what I paid them to do. All I asked for was a refund. ******************** advised me it was on the way. I have yet to receive my money back.
