I am the seller of a 2 year old new construction townhouse. The potential buyers sent TNT Inspection Services to my house. I was not there. My hvac system was not working once I arrived back home. I contacted the company stating they must have did something (broke my furnace). *****, owner of inspection service, was making excuses stating they couldnt get system to work. They passed the inspection as per her words Its not gas. I have two thermostats and if one is set to heat and one is set to ac it will shutdown, per words from my construction manager as I closed on my home. ***** was argumentative and unprofessional. My realtor has discovered TNT Services credentials are false and has filed such claim to be investigated by home inspector board. I plan to file a court case.Business response

TNT Home Inspections, *** is not a false company. It is registered with the state and the county. I am also a Certified Professional Inspector with InterNACHI. On March 6, 2022, myself and my assistant entered the property at *************** at approximately 10 am. We were accompanied by the buyer's agent. The inspection was started in the kitchen. There was no heat blowing upon entry. We attempted to adjust the temperature at the thermostat there on the main level. We were unable to release the programmed hold, which was unusual. As we progressed through the home with the inspection, we reached the upper level of the home. We tried to adjust that thermostat for heat as well, and again were not able to get the temperature to adjust. Once we realized that we could not get the heat to come on, there was no need to attempt to put on the a/c. As I tried to explain to **************, the heat was not on upon entry. We only touched the thermostat to try to adjust the heat temperature, and that was unsuccessful. This is part of a normal inspection adjusting the thermostat. We did not touch the heating unit at all. She had a multi-zoned, heat pump system. (one unit that provides both heat and air, and has a thermostat for upper and lower level of home). Those systems are electric and do not require for us to touch or open them at all. She stated that she had been out-of-town; therefore, she can not be sure that the system was not working as she had not been there. Additionally, a home inspection in a non-invasive, visual finding. We do not take things apart, but do test for functionality. Attempting to adjust a thermostat, will not break a heating unit.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because my thermostat(s) simply have mode. Mode is heat mode, cool mode and off mode. The program on my thermostat is very simple. (+) or (-) for increase or decrease of temperatures. As that day was technically winter, my thermostat was set, not locked ever, to 67 degrees heat mode, causing the system to only heat up once the temperature is reached, however, that particular day of your home inspection the outside temperatures were 78 degrees.
T&T does not have knowledge that this new construction build home had two thermostats. One thermostat setting cannot safely operate without the other thermostat being on the same mode; heat simultaneously or cooling simultaneously not separately I was only out of town for work during a day trip. At 7:45 a.m. when I left for work it was working with no problem. I returned later that night. I was reachable by phone and merely an hour drive away. Me being out of town has nothing to do with your problem. My zone board needed replacing as per ******* heating and air company.T&T is not knowledgeable of a simple thermostat. My home is 2 years old. Step your game up with InterNachi. They have been informed as well I am requesting to collect my $140 plus $367 and not to mention the the stress due to your negative customer ***************************** call) and not to mention it was 20 degrees that following days.
Sincerely,

This is not the first new construction home I have inspected. I have inspected all types of homes, new construction to million dollar homes. I have seen and adjusted every type of thermostat, and seen about every type of heating system, old and new. Again, the heat was not on and the thermostat did not adjust. Neither downstairs or upstairs. The ac was never attempted. Once the heat could not be turned on, there was no need to attempt the ac because a heat-pump system regulates heat and air. I feel that you are retaliating on T&T because the buyers backed out of the deal. Our company has a stellar reputation. This was not accomplished by providing poor and unprofessional service, but professional, quality serviceCustomer response
