I hired Quality Pool & Patio to build an outdoor pool, kitchen, fire pit, and RV parking pad. We signed a contract in August 2021 for an overall price of $129,488. We have paid them $103,000 to this point and have nowhere near that amount of work completed and/or equipment delivered. The company has not performed any work since 11 June 2022 and has since filed bankruptcy and closed it's doors. We are among approximately 60 contracts that they have collected money for and either stopped construction or never even started.

We signed the contract for a pool in May 2021. We were originally told it would be done in December 2021. They finally began the project and dug the hole the week of Thanksgiving 2021. The owner, *** **** said the project would be completed in April 2022. Here we are, June 2022 and the project we agreed to is not finished. He took the third installment of our money and has since stated all the money is gone. He’s had to let workers go because he can’t pay them. So, now because of his mismanagement of his business and failing to complete our project timely, he’s feeling the affects of inflation. We are still owed dirt and grading of our sloped yard as well as sod and landscaping. We are owed landscape lighting, completion of pipe work and completion of retaining walls (2) and a fire pit. Because he ran out of money due to mismanagement and not having separate accounts and ledgers for each project, we had to pay the marcite and equipment crews separately. He specifically told us not to give the money to him because it would not be used appropriately. We used the remainder of our loan to have the marcite and equipment installed so we could fill our pool with water and actually use it. The marcite and equipment had already been paid to him because it was included in the base rate of a simple pool installation. Now, we’re unable to get answers on when or who will complete any additional work. One ex- employee stated his last paycheck bounced and today we were informed he told the remaining employees that he did not have the funds to pay them for the previous weeks work. If Quality pools can not complete our project asap, we would like reimbursement for the work not done. His son runs the landscaping side of the business( Quality Landscapes), so even if the pool side doesn’t have the money to give back; it can come from the landscaping side. Someone needs to be held accountable and this needs to be made right with all the customers that are in our same situation.

We contracted with *** **** in September 2021 to do our pool. He said we would be swimming by the spring of 2022. Beginning in May 2022, he stopped responding to Our calls and texts and would not send anyone to work. Then when he did respond, he would tell us people were coming to work, but no one would show up. My husband finally tracked him down at the business location, and he told us he wouldn’t be able to finish our job even though we had already paid 95% of our contract price. He told us we would need to contact people directly and pay them directly for any remaining work. He also told us he would send us contact info for people, but he never did. Our contract also includes the first month of chemicals and pool upkeep, but we are now having to pay for all of that in addition to finishing the pool. We’ve also had to pay for our vacuum, and any other items he had not already delivered. We will end up spending about $10,000 more than we were quoted because of this in addition to the headache and aggravation we’ve had to deal with it. In talking with others, we are not the only ones this has happened to, and it has been going on for a while. We had even recommended him to someone before we knew all this, and he was talking to them and had given them a quote in the last 2-3 weeks. During that same time period, we received a letter stating that due to the economy, *** would not be able to finish our pool at the quoted price and during the original schedule, but despite contacting him multiple times, he would not tell us what the cost increase or timeline would be.
