In February I went to Dewey Auto Outlet on the east side of **********, IA and purchased a 2016 ********************** During the process of buying I told them that it seemed like there was something wrong with the battery and asked them could they check it out because I really wanted the vehicle. They had one of their certified mechanics come out and check it and assure me nothing was wrong it was just from sitting in the cold too long not being started and of course I believe them. The day after I purchased the vehicle I brought it back to them with mechanical issues (engine smell of burning and idle was very rough) and told them I didnt want the vehicle any more. They gave me a loaner vehicle and promised to fix the issues because they claimed they couldnt take the vehicle back. They called me the same day and returned my jeep Cherokee to me and they claimed there was nothing wrong with it that they could find. In May ( 3 months later) I was in ******* on a Job contract in my Jeep. I went outside to start my Jeep and it wouldnt start. Got my Jeep towed and sure enough my suspensions about the battery where confirmed. It was a bad battery and I had to pay out of pocket to replace the battery.Skip to now (July) and a few days ago I had to go get my girlfriend over by the *** hyvee because the Jeep wouldnt accelerate but the RPMs was stuck up by the red part of ********. I eventually got the Jeep to drive and my girlfriend followed me in my other car to the Dealership. I told them the problem and they had one of their mechanics look at it. They brought the Jeep back out to me and claimed there was nothing wrong with it. I argued with them and talked to multiple people until the General manager came out and asked what was wrong. I told him the problem and he took my car for a drive with me and sure enough it happened with him in the car driving. He went back and told them there was something wrong (He suspected the transmission was the issue). More 2 s

      Re: Complaint 17621582

This customer purchased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee from Dewey Auto Outlet on February 11, 2022. This vehicle was outside of manufacturer warranty and sold As-Is.  The customer elected to purchase an extended warranty for the Jeep.  Batteries are considered a maintenance item and not covered under the extended warranty.

The customer tried to trade out of his Jeep but was unable to procure financing for a different vehicle.

The customer notified us of a suspected transmission issue on or about July 19, 2022.  We gave the customer a loaner vehicle to drive and sent his Jeep to Dewey Dodge Jeep, a manufacturer certified repair facility to diagnose. They found the vehicle needed a software update which fixed the issue. The Jeep fully operational and ready for the customer to pick up. There is no charge to the customer for this software update.  *****************, our General Manager, has been in communication with the customer during the entire process.  The customer drove to ********* in the loaner vehicle we provided and will not be back to ********** until August 22, 2022.

      Complaint: 17621582

I am rejecting this response because:

They are lying because I brought the jeep back to them in February 2 days after I bought it telling them that there was an engine or transmission issue with the jeep. They gave me a loaner vehicle and called me the next day telling me they didnt see any issues with the vehicle. They knew they where selling me a vehicle that was less then reliable and did everything they could to convince me that the vehicle was worthy.
As I mentioned in the initial complaint I asked them about mechanical issues with the vehicle before I even bought it and they had a mechanic supposedly look it over and certify that there is nothing wrong with it.
I have been in communication with ***************** after the filing of this complaint and he has assured me that he will take care of me.
***** also has told me that he will get me out of the vehicle by one of the following methods 1( paying off the loan amount for the vehicle and I can go to a different car lot to get a vehicle  2( trading in the vehicle and supplying a down payment needed to get me financing for another vehicle from their dealership.
I will actually be back from ********* on the 16th of August but ***************** will be out of the office until August 22nd and has instructed me to come into the dealership that day because he wants to deal with this issue personally.
As long as this issue is handled in the way Mr. *** has promised me it will be this complaint will be resolved. If it is not handled in the way promised this complaint will be ongoing.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************
