On Friday January 11, 2023 I had my vehicle towed to Jims Drivetrain to have the rear differential repaired. Shortly after dropping my vehicle off at Jims I received a phone call from ****, a mechanic next door to Jims Drivetrain. **** stated that he often works on cars for *** when *** is busy. *** let **** diagnose the problem without my knowledge or consent. At that time **** stated the rear differential needed to be replaced. He stated that in these situations he recommends putting in a used part. He quoted my $3500 for a new part(which is 600 above market) or his recommendation for a used part for $1700 cars or $1750 used. I proceed with the used part as he recommended.I picked up the vehicle on January 13, 2023 after the repair. At that time **** stated that if I have any problems or the car is not driving correctly to give him a call. He stated that part has a warrant and can be replaced if needed. I drove the car for a few weeks and the vehicle started having issues. The repair seemed to not be working. I reached out to **** and let him know. At that time I made an appointment for him to look at my vehicle. I took my vehicle down to **** for him to look at. He proceeded to drive my vehicle around his parking lot and told me that he did not have time to look at it that day and that everything seemed to be fine. He told me may the issue was that I had lost confidence in my vehicle. Not feeling comfortable with his answer because the vehicle is driving poorly. I reached out to Jims Drivetrain. I figured since he is fixing vehicles on their behalf may they can assist me. They asked that I bring the vehicle in that following Monday on March 6, 2023. *** drained the fluid in the part to see if the part was having issues. It was determined that part was not performing as it should and that the solution was to drain the current oil and add an additive. *** advised me to drive the car for a week, and if I am still having issues get with **** and have him replace the part. I immediately called **** and let him know that I wanted to proceed with ordering the new part, the way the vehicle was driving there was no way that an additive can fix it. **** said that he would order a new part and call him in a week.I called **** the following week to see if the part had been ordered. **** stated that he did not order the part yet. He wanted me to bring the vehicle down for additional diagnostic work and to add a different additive. I dropped the vehicle off on March 20, 2023. I picked the car up on March 21, 2023. I confirmed with **** that I still wanted the part to be replaced. On March 28, 203 **** asked if I could drop the vehicle off again. The supplier wanted additional diagnostic work done before the warranty claim could be processed. On March 30, 2023 **** advised that the supplier will pay for the part, but the vehicle needs to go to the dealer. The dealer would need to confirm that there are no electrical issues, and that the differential needed to be repaired.I made an appointment with the dealership **************. I took the vehicle to them on April 4, 2023. The technician there confirmed that the only issue that the car is having is the differential needs to be replaced again. I called **** immediately after picking up the car to schedule an appointment to have the new part put in.On April 12, 2023 I dropped my vehicle off with **** to have him replace the part. I picked up my vehicle from **** on April 16, 2023. Soon after driving the vehicle for a short time it was clear that the vehicle was not repaired. It was driving exactly the same prior to repair. I immediately called **** and let him know that the car was driving as if it was not repaired. **** began to get upset ,and said that if I am accusing him of lying that things would go sideways. I immediately stopped communicating with ****.

We referred the job to another shop.  The customer asked us to verify installation was done correctly and listen for a noise.   It was done correctly and we were unable to hear any noise. We went ahead and changed the oil for free.

We test drove the vehicle and heard no noise.

We never charged her for anything so we can't offer a refund.

I am rejecting this response because: They subbed out the work without my permission and the person who performed the work identified himself as someone doing work on behalf of **** drivetrain. Not only that the change in oil was not done for free I paid $150 for the service. The company should be responsible for the people they subcontract work to. I am asking *** to refund my money and if necessary they can recoup the funds from the person they subbed the work out to. I will no longer be working with the person they subbed the work out to after being threatened by that person and concerned for my safety.

      Sincerely,
