The issue is that he was not being forth coming with the information &n process we discussed with him with his wife. Therefore creating a communication issue.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:There is a ****** document attached to this complaint where you can read my explanation on why I am asking for a refund. If you cannot access this please reach out to me. While my truck sat at your shop for four and a half months there were several attempts at communicating. We let you know we were highly unsatisfied with the work done to my truck and not done to the truck. We discovered your employee completely destroyed my engine, and I had to pay out of pocket for a whole new engine plus all the diagnostic and labor fees to discover the problem your employee created.
Sincerely,

****,
You were consulted on absolutely every stage of the repair process and agreed to them. We were collaborating with your father upon your request. You took your truck from ** to take to your father out of state for continued repairs in an attempt to save costs. The invoice from us is dated 10/17/2022. Why are we just learning a year tomorrow about this situation? The copy of your invoice clearly states the warranty Disclosure which you are very far past to which I will attach. We have pictures of the condition of your engine documented when it was brought to us. It was in terrible condition and the truck was trailered in to us. As a reminder 2 hrs of this invoice is for the jeep you also brought in. If you were not on board with what we were doing for the truck why would you bring a second vehicle to us? Where is the invoice proof of your claim that our employee damaged the already ruined engine and of the new repairs.? You were here at our shop regularly to look at what was going on with the truck and to give us your permission to accomplish everything we did.

Complaint: 20661532
I am rejecting this response because:Below, you can find the supporting documents including the tow bill, and the work done at Bear Automotive. As you will see, there are no discrepancies as the truck went directly from your shop to Bear Automotive. Where they diagnosed that the problem was within the engine not the truck itself as we were told by you ***. Your a business owner and you should take credibility for your employees and their mistakes. You're just now hearing about this because my truck was completed August 10th of 2023. The diagnosis on the Jeep was prior to the quote for the truck, and was done early September 2022 before you "finished" the work on the truck. The truck would not have been brought back to your shop for any warranty work as I do not trust you or your employees after the findings from Bear Automotive.
Sincerely,

During the week of August 14th through the 20th 2022 I talked to a mechanic that is employed by the company ***-Sam on SIte LLC. During that conversation we discussed the modifications and complete rebuild of my **** **** F250 460ci engine that was going to be taking place. A verbal quote of $2,000 for labor only was given along with a date to drop the truck off at their shop. On August 30th, 2022 I paid Dycks Towing a fee of $120 to load my truck from my home and transport it to their shop like we had discussed 2 weeks prior. On August 30th I followed the tow truck carrying my truck to *** and dropped off $3,239.68 dollars worth of parts and additives for the truck. After arriving at the shop and the truck was unloaded I discussed the condition of the truck with several of the mechanics there. I also discussed the work that was previously done to the engine heads in preparation for the rebuild of the engine which was $325 paid to another shop. We also discussed the parts I provided for them and my expectations for the rebuild once again. *** tore my engine the rest of the way down and sent it off to be cleaned by a local company. There were a few phone calls made from *** to me discussing a few parts that I ordered that did not fit correctly. I was able to order the correct parts for the truck and ship the others back. In late September after no contact or updates other than the incorrect parts that were ordered we received an estimated quote from *** of the final bill of roughly $4,591.11. More than double the original estimate given prior to service.September 26th, 2022 I stopped by the shop to check on the status of my truck. I realized that during its stay that there was significant damage to the rear bumper. I have images to show the day the truck left my residence and the day I noticed the damage. The bumper was completely caved in from being hit or pushed around. I let *** know of the damage and he advised me he could take money off of the final bill for the damages, or fix the bumper. When this was brought up again in our final conversation he said I wrote off shop costs, instead of fixing it to call it even. The invoice we received does not suggest that any costs were excluded as payment for fixing the bumper nor do we feel his response was sincere. To replace the bumper to match the one I currently have is $300 and I would like to include this in the total reimbursement. On October 10th, I received a phone call from one of the mechanics working on my truck stating that the truck had been running previously. I was able to stop by the *** shop and listen to the truck start but then fail to run several times. I have proof of this on video. That same day I was told there were a few minor things to tweak with the truck but that I would have the truck back before hunting season in the next few days. With that in mind I paid the company $4,476.00 under the impression my truck would be completed shortly following my visit that day. I had no reason to think otherwise. After that day no phone calls were made to me saying the truck was completed and that the truck ran and drove. I was able to hear the truck start and die several times in the week after October 10th. After that I called several times and no one seemed to know the status of my truck. The mechanics and the owner at *** seemed to put my truck at the bottom of their to-do list. There was a discussion in late October of the shop not knowing how to fix the truck to get it running again and them stating they needed to move on and tinker with the truck at their convenience but we would have it before snow fell. The shop owner and mechanics were very inconsistent in the following months. They told us they made phone calls to local shops, and even to my father who has been a mechanic for 30+ years. (I told them this in prior conversations) I believed this to be very unprofessional and ridiculous as they claimed they knew how to do the work I had requested on my truck back in August and that I had already paid them for a job that wasnt doneDuring the course of the next few months my truck sat in their parking lot and no progress was made. We called several times to check on the truck's progress and everytime nothing was done. Several times over the couple months the shop began throwing parts and ideas that they did not know were going to fix the problem they had caused in my motor. At one point the shop requested that I change my truck from fuel injection, which was the factory standard to carburation which was a type of fuel management that **** did away with years prior. They wanted me to upfront $2,400 to do this and could not guarantee that it would get the truck to run and drive. They charged me for these random parts they replaced that did not fix the problem of the truck starting and driving. My wife and I tried to explain to the owner and his employees that we were not impressed that they lacked the ability to fix our truck, and that we would like a return of money due to the truck not running and driving. When I asked for an engine rebuild it was understood by both parties on several occasions that I wanted my truck running and driving down the road. The owner ************* screamed at the top of his lungs that he and his mechanics did not do anything wrong and that my truck was the problem, not his work. His employees were even present while he yelled at us and ultimately said we would not be getting our money back. He told us that if we took the engine out of the truck and parted it out we could get our money back that way. Again saying that our truck was the problem. During that conversation it was agreed upon that we could have our truck back. We reminded him of a transmission service that we already paid for that was included in the total paid on October 10th. Due to the truck not running yet he was not able to perform this $300 service. He acknowledged that we paid for that service and said that once the truck was running we could take the truck back to him to receive the service or he would pay someone else to do it. We will not be taking the truck back to his shop and would like reimbursement for this as well. While visiting the truck and talking to the mechanics in the months to come, I again realized their carelessness and found where my dirty, oily, old, camshaft and other parts had been placed on my rear bench seat, and in the bed of my truck causing stains and a huge mess that could have been avoided. I would like a $250 reimbursement needed to deep clean the seats to remove the stains that were acquired due to their carelessness and lack of professionalism. On January 18th, approximately a week after the conversation where he said we could have the truck back and that he could no longer finish the job, I paid $100.00 to Dycks Towing to have my truck towed from *** to Bear *************** services. The owner of Bear ***** is a very professional man and accommodated fitting my truck into a very heavy workload. He is also a mechanic that *** said they called when trying to troubleshoot my truck. A few months down the road ***** had the time to inspect my engine and he found multiple problems from the start. I have the invoice stating the diagnosed problems upon receiving the truck directly from ***. Please contact me for these documents. These problems clearly caused my truck to have total engine failure. Several of these issues were due to the complete negligence of *** and the mechanics there. I have saved several of these parts that I had bought previously that *** destroyed to show as evidence. The Zinc additive that I provided *** with had been left in the back of my truck all winter and never poured into the engine oil for the break in period, I asked *** about using this additive and they said it was not needed. The chances of my engine not having a flat camshaft now were already low due to this factor. The lifters were worn so badly that some of them had a severe angle etched into them due to excessive wear. I have all of this in writing from *************** Services as well as the camshaft and lifters that were destroyed by ***.***** at Bear said that replacing the entire engine was a quicker and more effective way than going through the engine *** had previously gone through as several new parts needed to be purchased and severe cleaning needed to be done. **** suggested replacing the entire engine that was currently in the truck with a crate engine from ************** After the truck being in two shops for almost a year and only having one vehicle between my wife and I. We decided the quicker, more effective option to get the truck back to us and on the road would be the best option for us as a family. By taking this option several of the performance parts I wanted were not available anymore, and in fact I didnt get any of them. I was not able to have the engine painted like I had already paid *** to do. I was also out $1,918.60 in parts that I had paid for and dropped off at *** that were destroyed at their shop. The total cost at Bear with the diagnosis of the engine, new crate engine from ************** and all of the labor to do this work over the last 7 months cost me another $8,336.67. On August 10th, 2023 I finally received my truck from *************** Services. After this I became very irritated due to the lack of professionalism, and the pure negligence on the behalf of *** and his team of mechanics. I decided something had to be done. Granted this is not the first time nor the second that myself, people of the community, or ***** at Bear have heard about *** s******* someone over on mechanic work. I am just a regular guy having to just come up with $16,577.35 to fix my truck is absolutely ridiculous, and I would like to attempt to receive assistance in the return of my funds that I had to come up with to fix my truck after *** destroyed my engine.I contacted several attorneys for advice and was advised to turn in a formal written complaint to see if the Better Business Bureau would assist me in resolving this case. Please contact me for any images of the damage to my bumper, the camshaft on my rear bench seat, part receipts, or any other documentation you might need. I was unable to attach these to the complaint.Total reimbursement sought after: $11,230.27Total work done at *************** Services: $8,336.67Parts destroyed at ***: $1,918.60Heads machined at another shop: $325Seat Cleaning: $250Tow bill from *** to Bear: $100Bumper: $300Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint about a local business here in Boundary County *****. So, let me get this straight....You acknowledged and agreed to everything we did during the process, you brought us almost all parts to install, you brought us a second vehicle (Jeep which was included in the invoice price) You did not communicate these decisions with your wife so she did not understand the scenario we had or the condition of all the parts you brought and the problems they caused, and paid a total of $4476.21 knowing we had way more labor time in it than we charged you because right off the bat you preferred us to rebuild vs put a 12V engine for financial reasons which was definitely our recommendation given the poor condition of the engine, the oversized injectors and a multiple other issues you brought to us all while knowing we would absolutely not warranty parts we did not procure. You now expect us to pay for another shop putting a crate engine in your vehicle. We charged you for the portion of repairs we made given that you were not interested in our 12 Valve install recommendation. Plus, you are accusing us of destroying parts that you provided to us and wanting reimbursed for them as well? As for the Cam that you pulled out was laying on the backseat where you put it when the truck left us...... We put a small dent in the bumper but discussed this with you and the agreement was that we would discount the repair bill for it which we did. You agreed with this, and I imagine that info didn't get passed on to your wife either. I absolutely want a copy of all the documentation and said "proof" of us destroying the parts you brought us.... You can mail copies to 11 Arbor Ln Moyie Springs, ID. *****. So, it seems at the end of the day you want us to pay for your brand-new engine? Another words, you get an engine installed in your old truck but don't have to pay for it? you are absolutely being dishonest and are obviously interested in having a new engine in your truck at our expense. Shameful!!!! Not to mention that you are throwing another Mechanic shop under the bus. We have definitely heard of costumer issue with that shop too but feel that it's not professional to talk about competitors in that manner. We will be locating all the documentation and photos necessary. I really thought you were a better honest person than that. We stand behind our work, you know there were no warranties/guarantees on parts you provided us which was almost all of them (stated in the warranty disclosure on the invoice provided to you)

I am rejecting this response because:Obviously there will always be two sides to a story. My wife and the communication I had with her has nothing to do with the engine you agreed to build. We briefly talked about the 12v engine swap, but I brought my engine fully knowing I wanted a rebuild, and that was agreed too. You also said the 12v swap would have cost a great deal more. Parts were purchased and paying $4476. 21 plus parts for an engine that was rebuilt would have been fine. But as stated before I did not get a rebuilt engine that ran. Instead I got an engine that did not run, and the new parts that I purchased were no longer of any use because of excessive wear. We are only asking for reimbursement for some of the parts, and what we had to pay another shop to fix your mistakes. We are still out an incredible amount of money on this. As I did not plan on paying for a rebuild, and then a new engine on top of that. I did not place the camshaft propped up on my rear seat, your mechanic did I found it there the day my truck was towed to Bear. I was not happy about the oil stain it left on my cloth seat. I did not want the engine to be at your expense, and was hoping for the best when we brought it to Bear. After finding out what **** had to say I had no other options. I've poured approximately 16 thousand dollars in to this truck total between the two shops. I do not want to drag your shops name through the dirt, I only want to come up with a resolution. Obviously I had faith in you guys and trusted you guys to complete the work on my truck, or I wouldn't have brought my truck there. My findings at Bear have changed my mind. The parts that I bought were not the issue it was the quality of work done by your mechanics that caused the engine to not run or drive. I can show you the camshaft and lifters if you would like. They are ground because your mechanics failed to put in the zinc additive I provided. One of your mechanics stated to me "OH you don't need that" Well apparently you do! Honestly I just want this to be over, and be able to recoup some of our money. I can give you any information you need and send you pictures. I will get you guys a copy of my invoice from Bear as soon as I can. That states the issues found within the engine. I still think your a good person and that we can solve this rationally as I am also a good person as well. There were some mistakes made by your mechanic that cost me alot of money, and as a business owner I believe that needs to be delt with by you.
Sincerely,
