05/25/23 - 1/2 of payment given to Paramount Fence ($2,175.00 check)07/14/23 - Fence was installed.I called ****** (salesman to let him know that a lot of the pickets were split and the top of all pickets were cut with a dull blade and not clean cut. As I looked at more pickets, it looked like a lot of them were eaten on edges and some fronts and some backs.07/31/23 - ****** came out to inspect the fence. He told me the tops would dry up and not look like they did. He tried to talk me out of the pickets being bad and finally he marked some of them and said they would be replaced. I told him to have them bring more as I inspect them all.11/23 - a worker came to replace 20 pickets. I told him there were more and he said he had to talk to the office about getting more replaced, but saw more were needed.11/28/23 - I paid another $1.175.00. I was still waiting for the rest of the pickets to be replaced. At this time the top of all the pickets still have lots of splinters from the bad blade they were cut with.11/30/23 - ****** had to come back out to fix two of the newly installed pickets that were only put in with half of the nails. He said it all looked good, but I was not notified that he was here and he never even talked directly to me. He sent a text when he left.Since this time, I have been waiting for ****** to contact me about the replacement of the other pickets and nothing. I told his worker that the quality of the pickets was very bad quality and not acceptable.To date $1,000.00 is still owed, but with the lack of replacements or something being done about the poor cut pickets, I was waiting for a resolution from Paramount Fence.02/15/23 - I received a 30 day notice and lots of false information about me refusing to pay the final bill. I am waiting for the fence pickets to be replaced and a solution for the poor cut picket tops. The letter stated that they will come and take out the fence and keep my deposit of $2,175.00.Business response

We did take *****'s concerns seriously which is why the 20 boards were replaced as she stated. After receiving the partial final payment on 11/28/23, ******, her salesperson, called her and left a voicemail asking if she was still having issues with the boards as she only sent a partial payment of her final balance for $1175, leaving $1000 remaining. In his message he wanted to know when he could meet with her to discuss her concerns and take care of replacing more material to satisfy her. She did not call or text him back. In order to take care of her problem, we need to actually be able to meet on site and go over the concerns. I have spoken to ***** today and she is meeting with ****** and our Sales Manager, ****, next Wednesday 2/28/24 to go over her concerns and get her issues resolved.Customer response

Paramount Fence has not come out to check the issue with the fence. They are scheduled to come tomorrow afternoon. I will respond after they come out and tell BBB what is the status of the bad pickets.

I am rejecting this response because I met with ****** and **** and we talked about what needed to be replaced or repaired. They marked 73 boards that need to be replaced. They still need to sand down lots of the boards that were cut with a dull blade. I don't have a scheduled date from them when the replacements pickets or sanding will be done.

On 06/21/2023 I signed a contract with Paramount to install a 5ft. privacy fence, 65ft., at the back of my property. I gave company 50% of the job total, $3260.00. I questioned salesperson if it was permitted to put fence butted up against neighbors existing fences and he said they install this with the company frequently. A problem arose with my cable and the company needed to come out to my property. I was told that a fence has to be a foot and a half off of their cable connection box which it is not. I also became aware of this with our Village code. The fence will have to be moved in an extra foot onto my property making it impossible to maintain my property behind it. I called the company to tell them I need to cancel the fence due to this recent development. To my knowledge the fencing material is still not in and there has been no installation date given to me. I contracted with Paramount for a fence backing directly behind the properties behind me. I am now being told by Paramount that I will be charged 25% of the entire price of fence ($3260.00) for cancellation of contract. I don't feel that I should have to pay this due to the fact that I am cancelling because the placement of fence on the contract by Paramount cannot be met due to circumstances beyond my control. I am seeking cancellation of fence and return of my deposit of $1630.00 which was paid on June 21, 2023. I do have documents to support this but I cannot upload them.Business response

This complaint was put in over two weeks ago and we just received notification of this on Saturday evening, the 26th. In the meantime, we have issued full refund for ******'s deposit in two checks. She should be receiving both checks by the end of this week for the full amount of her deposit, $1630. We took care of the situation already last week. I called ****** and checked in with her today about this and regarding her complaint which is when we realized this was two weeks late in getting to us.Customer response

In good faith we have paid our contract in full (over $6K) due to terms listed in Paramount Fence Agreement. Our final inspection did not pass due to the fence being measured as too high in places, and not following the grade-which has left significant gaps along the bottom. We have reached out multiple times and provided letters with our final payment requesting the repairs be completed so the city permit can be closed out, along with a copy of their failed inspection report from the city.My recommendation: If you are choosing to do business with this company, definitely request a Certificate of Insurance in case you are left with figuring out how to close your city permit and repair what you are stuck with. This way you can at least file a claim: As this is damage to your property... so you can hire someone else to provide materials and complete the task and do a good job.Business response

Our Operations Manager has been actively working on this with the city inspector and the homeowner to satisfy what both of them need for the 6' tall run. The city approved an 8' tall fence for the back 28' only, and 6' tall for the 61' side run of fence. That is the side that has gaps under the fence and has made the fence taller than 6' in some areas. **** had left another voicemail for the inspector again last Friday, 11/4/22 to get further clarification on what can be done to solve the problem. ****, the Operations Manager here, needs to meet the inspector on site later this week to get clear instructions on how to fix this and work with the homeowner as well. I have spoked to ************************* this morning about this and also left her husband, ****, a message as well. We have been actively working on this for weeks and will do what it takes for them to pass inspection.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me:We are currently awaiting a meeting with **** (Rep from Paramount), the city inspector, myself and my husband on Thursday, November 10th at 9:30 am to go over the failed inspection and get information on what repairs are required to close out our current permit before it expires in February of 2023.

On February 10th, 2022 I signed a contract to have a fence installed in my backyard at *****************. I walked the property with the sales rep ***** twice and agreed upon where the fence would go. As per the contract, I needed to have several mature bushes removed. I paid a landscaping contractor over $1,400 to have grape vines and lilac bushes removed. An existing garden fence from the previous homeowners was to be removed and hauled away.When the crew arrived on July 29th, 2022 to begin the fence installation, it was brought to our attention that the garden fence lay outside our property line. Had this been brought to our attention during the proposal, we would not have signed the contract. The placement of the fence installation was going to be significantly different from what was drawn ** in our proposal. We asked that they cease work as it was not what we agreed upon in the contract. The crew had begun disassembling the old garden fence but left all of the debris behind when we asked that they stop working. Paramount Fence agreed to refund our $5374.00 down payment in full but I am still extremely unsatisfied with this entire experience. I am now stuck with several yards of scattered old fencing in disarray. I invested a significant amount of money to remove mature landscaping that was only removed in compliance with the fence contract. I would not have removed these plants otherwise. I payed for and planned modifications to my property based solely on this fence proposal and now I am left without a fence, without mature landscaping to border my property and a heap of fencing materials making my property look like a junkyard. Paramount Fencing misled me, had me sign a false contract and when their mistake was pointed out, they simply left the wreckage behind for me to deal with.I would like to see Paramount Fence reimburse me for the landscaping removal and to also remove the fencing that they began disassembling.Business response

We spoke with ******* regarding the fence placement issue on Friday afternoon, 7/29/22, and ******* agreed that having his full refund of his deposit in the amount of $5,374 would take care of the problem. The check was mailed out to him Friday afternoon after the discussion he had with his salesperson over the phone. During the appointment with ******* in January and February the area was dense with foliage and bushes and ******* assumed he had an additional 20' of property. The salesperson made an error and was not able to find the property pins on those visits with the customer and took his word for where the back property line was located. During the installation day, the crew was able to locate the pins after the foliage was cleared and that is when they noted that the customer's property was actually 20' in towards the back of the house then originally thought. The salesperson met the crew on site, unfortunately, ******* was out of town on business and was not able to meet with them regarding where his property line was actually located. I called ******* at 8:38 am this morning to make sure it was ok to come out and take away the old fence panels (per his request in this complaint) that the crew left there on Friday, but his cell phone is not on. I will call again in an hour to make sure it is ok to come out and take the panels away. The request on reimbursement from his landscape **** will need to be reviewed by the owner as this is not something we typically take care of. Thank you.
