Very disappointed. *** came out and gave us a great quote for rebuilding a brick wall, chimney, stripping our front porch railings / repaint and somehow convinced me to do concrete work in the front, which really isn't needed but they price was good. He came out with the estimate, which stated a 50% deposit was required. He mentioned initially that a deposit wasn't required but we opted to give him 20% to get started. For someone who didn't want a deposit initially, he hounded me for the deposit for a week when I told him the funds would take a while to transfer over. This should have been red flag #1. He comes out to collect the check and brings one of his folks with him to get started. His guy comes over with a ************************* and takes a chunk out of the concrete and then stops, they need to pull a concrete permit. So now my concrete is damaged but they are working on permits (July 17, 2023). While waiting on permits they decide to tackle the sand blasting of the railings. The end product was good, they stripped and primed the railings but that's where it ended. They didn't use anything to block the spray from the house so in the process ruined the window screens and took paint off the front door / window casings. I mention the mess as there was sand everywhere and am told they will clean it up. Needless to say, that was the last I saw of anyone. He was going to replace some lentils as part of the project, they have been sitting in my driveway for 4 months. I'm out $2400 plus the cost of fixing what they screwed up including some broken concrete. *** and I have been texting back and forth for months with a common response, "I'll call you tomorrow". As of October 24, 2023: No call after multiple texts. I will be forwarding them, along with my formal complaint, to the ************************* Avoid using him at all costs unless you love frustration and have money to burn.

Wow. I was going to leave a very detailed account of the absolute s*** show experience I had with ******************* and Chicago Brickhouse, but it is really not much different than what everyone else has posted. To sum up, he talks a great game but doesn't know what he is doing, can't complete a job, doesn't understand a contact or budget and is overall a terrible person to deal with. I did have to pursue *** with the threat of a lawsuit and did recover from his insurance company, but it was a far cry from making up for the ***** of ********, incomplete work and damage repair I dealt with. Whatever you do, stay away from this POS company. Hire a real masonry company that has experience and is bonded. This guy is a fraud.

I am not usually one to write reviews but I do not want anyone to experience what I have. Chicago Brick came through with a very detailed and professional drawing of the outdoor kitchen of my dreams, convincing me that they were the right company for the job. 7 months later, the burner leaks, the grills hinge hits the granite. One of the drawers is crooked, the refrigerator is caulked in even though it needs to be winterized and unplugged from the back, drawers are leaking and the mortar is two different colors throughout the kitchen. The process to get to this point was a nightmare. I wanted to use my own granite and 4 months in I was told that it wouldnt work. I drove all around town for weeks to find matching granite, bought it and was told it still wouldnt work. I warned them that the frame was not good craftsmanship but they said it would be fine. They could not follow their drawing for correct rough in dimensions. I was constantly asked for more money because the owner didnt have any even though we had a contract 50% down 50% upon completion. It got to the point where they consider the project done and I dont believe that they have the knowledge as a contractor to fix the mistakes they have made and need to find a professional company to fix it. A grill should be the sanctuary in which a man finds peace in his backyard and the outdoor kitchen the ultimate throne on which it sits. For me however, I am sick every time I look at it.

Hi *****, I apologize it has taken me some time to respond to your comment. I want you to know that I hear you and understand your frustrations, however, there are a few things I want to be clear about so that we can come to an understand about what happened.Initially when I quoted this project, the timeline was projected to take about a month, perhaps a little longer for the amount of work that you wanted done. I do agree with you that this project took a lot longer than we had both hoped. The fact of the matter is that the delivery of the appliances, outsourcing of other additional labor (i.e. *********************** and purchasing of other necessary resources took a substantial amount of time. Unfortunately there were things outside of my control that affected how efficiently I could complete the project. In addition to this, we ran into other substantial issues of having the wrong inappropriate materials for an outdoor living space as requested by you to complete the project. There are other minor details that are neither here nor there, but all of this is to say that I do not think we were a good fit to work with each other, and that is no one personss fault, unfortunately things do not always turn out as we hope.Despite this, there needs to be an understanding that though there *** be obstacles you run in to with any construction job, if additional work is needed then so is additional funding. I understand your frustration with having to be flexible on pay, but I hope you understand that from a business perspective, I cannot offer free labor despite issues that *** arise. Despite all of this, I want to take ownership that I could have improved communication on my end during this time. I lost my mother in the middle of us working together and truthfully I neglected to put an emphasis on my own professionalism, and for that I am truly sorry and hope you understand. I sincerely hope that everything worked out in your favor after we went our separate ways and would like to invite you to give me a call anytime to discuss this further.
