I am writing to you about my dispute with Downers Grove Orthodontics for on 11/10/2021. We are disputing the claim as the plan of care we received was vastly different from the plan of care the orthodontists team explained to us. The team explained our child would receive an expander with a habit device to break the habit of tongue thrusting and my daughter would receive an expander with a device to help break the thumb sucking habit. The device was explained as having a small ridge. I asked for photos of the device and was not provided and was reassured it was minor. The devices were placed in my childrens mouths were horrific. My children were choking on their food and unable to swallow. My sons tongue was bleeding from the metal prongs. Our speech therapist noted it was a health hazard and encouraged us for emergency removal of the devices. After multiple attempts to contact the orthodontist for removal and request for immediate termination of services, we were dismissed or they went unanswered. On Nov 19th I asked for termination and request for removal of devices without a phone call back. I called on Nov 21 without a phone call back. I called on Nov 22 and requested documentation for all financial records and ****** refused to send documents. I told ****** for the third time that we were terminating services as the devices we received were NOT what were explained to us and caused our children medical harm. We were charged $510 and $510. We do not feel as though we owe this money as the devices placed in our childrens mouths were not what we agreed upon and were dangerous. We had them emergently removed by another orthodontist due to being a choking hazard and inability to eat food.We paid $1905.60 for the treatment of an expander for my other son but cancelled treatment immediately due to lack of rapport and trust with the orthodontist. He did NOT receive any device nor treatment and they are refusing to refund us the money.
