Date: 9/21/2022 I paid $1200 to have new circuits and outlets added in my kitchen and work done on my main panel. The electrician cut too large of holes in the studs and cut too close to the edge, directly violating ******* Building codes and compromising the structural integrity of my home. The photos attached clearly show the cut out width is greater than 40% and it is closer than 5/8" to the edge, both in violation of the building code. The technician also did not do any of the checking of the panel for correct labeling of the circuits and did not cover the exposed wire. The merchant agreed to refund me some money ($300) for this portion but would not address the studs that were cut too large and were the main problem needing to be addressed. I had requested a total of $700 refund for both the studs that were destroyed and the panel work not done. The quote is attached as well as a longer description of the problem and the email exchange between myself and the merchant.Business response

Hello,
In response to complaint #********:
************** was on a site and completed this job on 9/21. The customer constantly interrupted and interfered with the technician, trying to give him instructions on how to connect outlet, etc. which she found on internet.
After the job was completed she called and spoke with me (owner) and complained that the technician spent only 20 min in her basement (which is not true) and that the hole in the stud is too large and that it compromised the structure of her house. I offered her to personally stop by to check on technicians completed job and see if we can fix the stud issue if it's need to be fixed.
Next day she emailed us with her complains. I offered her again to personally stop by to check on technician's completed work, also explained that since one of the stud - is the corner stud, it is a normal practice to drill the holes larger in order to get 90 degree elbow through and those wholes will not compromise the structure of her house. She declined my visit and asked for $700 refund.
We counter offered her refund of $300 which she declined. After that she was trying to dispute the charge through credit card company multiple times.
We approved dispute for $100 which she filed.
Another dispute for $600 was declined and now she disputing $1,200.
We do provide good service and our pricing is fair. I understand that she is concerned due to searching on internet.. We did try to resolve the issue with her.
Please let me know if you need any additional information regarding this complaint.Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:The merchant continues to ignore the fact that two studs were bored too large. He talks about one being in the corner but the ******* Building Code (2308.5.10) gives no exception for that. The merchant continues to not acknowledge the second stud that was bored too large that was not in a corner and supports the load of my home. He offered to come look at the work that had been done, he did NOT offer to fix it (see email exchange attached). First, I already spent time taking off work to be home for the initial work to be done, I saw no further need to continue to alter my schedule to let him come look at his technician's poor work. I offered to send as many photos as needed but saw no reason to let him enter my home when I didn't trust the work his company performed. He did not offer to fix the studs (as can be seen in the email exchange attached) but even if he had I would not have allowed it as he clearly didn't honor building code and he is an electrician and not a builder or structural engineer.
The technician did not complete the panel work as promised. I know he was in the basement for approx 20 minutes because he had to turn all the power off and I had a work call that was 30 minutes long and the call was not even finished before the technician was telling me that he was done. The merchant agreed to refund $300 for this but I told him that I expected $700 to include the above mentioned studs that were destroyed.
I opened a dispute with my credit card company. Since the transaction was charged as two payments of $600 each I had to open one for $600 and one for $100. The $100 was accepted. The $600 was rejected since my credit card company's dispute system apparently does not allow jpeg/jpg files in their system and I needed these to support my case (they are attached as well). I then re-opened the $600 dispute and submitted everything via pdf file. The merchant is wrong that I am asking for $1200 back, it is merely that is was the $600 dispute that was opened, closed, and then re-opened. I still am asking for $700 back for the work to fix the destroyed studs and for the work that was not done at the electric panel.
Sincerely,

We can't refund the job which was completed without a chance to inspect and resolve the issue.
We did offer to inspect the issue to find the solution. The offer was declined.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:As stated previously, I have to take time out of my work day to be home for anyone to come and do work. There was no reason to do this when I was willing to send any photos and video needed to see the work that was performed. There was no way that I was going to let an electrician fix the fact that the studs were cut too much when they are the ones who caused the problem, did not acknowledge that it was a problem (even when it clearly violates building code), and are not knowledgable in fixing the problem.
Sincerely,
