I hired a contractor, Balif Remodeling LLC, represented by *************************** to complete wall repairs in my home due to electrical rewiring of the home that I am having done. ****************** does not speak fluent English, but had a translator and claimed to have understood what I was looking to have done. He requested that I complete a scope of work, which I did, and send it to him. In that document I outlined what we talked about regarding how I wanted the walls to be repaired, namely that a quarter inch drywall be placed over the existing plaster walls. All of the estimates I had for this job included this specification. We agreed upon a price of $33,000 and for work to begin Tuesday, July 16th, 2024. On the Sunday before then I had given him the first deposit for the work of $9,900. By the time Tuesday rolled around the check had already been cashed and he came with his crew to begin work. I wanted to make sure again that we were on the same page because he was going to go get materials for the job from **********. It turned out that he had an understanding that he was just patching the existing walls and told me to trust him it would turn out nice. He left to get the materials and I decided I was uneasy so I reached out to him on the phone and he and his translator attempted to claim that that was not what we agreed upon. The job was outlined in the Scope of work. He claims it was just for the kitchen and not the whole house, but the entire house needed it because ALL of my walls were torn up for electrical and that is why I was having the work done in the first place. He became very irate and came back to return my keys and claimed he had to go to the bank to see about my money. He then proceeded to act like the men had already performed work, they did not as he was only at my house for a 1/2 an hour before going to get the materials. After many days he returned only $7600 of my money STEALING $2300 for nothing.
