This company stole $125 from me on April 1, 2022. Their owner, *********************, sent out an electrician to give an estimate on a problem I was having in my home--the electricity was out in rooms in my home. The electrician told me that to fix the issue, I need to add more circuits to my home and that would cost around $1,200 for the job. Weighing my options, I decided to go through my home warranty, who later fixed the issue quickly and differently. However, the electrician from Metro Chicago Development who came charged me $125 for his visit. I thought it was weird at the time because Metro Chicago Development has never charged me for an estimate before, but I did not question it at that time because I thought their protocol changed. Recently, I decided to revisit the conversation I had with their electrician of adding more circuits to my home. I contacted **** and asked if I would have to pay another fee to his company for an estimate on the same problem. I learned at that time, I was wrongly charged $125 back in April 2022. **** informed me that his company does not charge for estimates and he will credit me $125 for the inconvenience. When asking for and receiving a refund on another project I paid for partially, I asked **** if I can be refunded the $125 I was credited, he only responded "No." I asked for more of an explanation and why he is going back on his word. He proceeded to fabricate stories about how the electrician completed a job when he came to my home, April 1, 2022; and since there's no proof that he did or did not complete anything he will not be refunding me the $125. He also said I could reach out to the electrician (who works for him) and ask if he could return my $125. This is bad business, fraud, and misleading practices to customers. This type of treatment of customers is unacceptable.

In response to the complaint Metro Chicago Development estimates are usually free. However, service calls are not. We were sent out to restore a partial power outage due to a breaker not functioning properly. When the electrician left from the house, he had restored the power. That is why the charge was given to the client to pay the electrician, which he did. However, he did not pay our company which he has done work with us many times before. Client paid the electrician directly. Six months after the electrician did the work he asked for this refund of money that Metro Chicago Development never received. I asked him if he wanted me to connect him with the electrician to seek a refund from him directly since he paid him directly he did not respond. In light of this complaint, I have requested the electrician to return the $125 which he should be dropping off sometime this week.

The reimbursement of $125 should resolve this situation.
