***************************, owner of Bulldog Atlantic Construction in **********. We signed a contract 12/8/22 rebuild our townhome/condo after Hurricane ***. He said he had many skilled workers to do the job-painters, electric, tile, cabinet hanging, to name a few. Turned out he had 1 man, *******, with an occasional helper, ****. He was also working on 2 other neighbors houses concurrently. We would get some work done then be ghosted for 3 weeks with no response at all. My husband is a c aroenter and was teaching the 2 men what to do in our home. Several times they had ******** wife and 12 year old son going work. He had unskilled laborers (walled in an electrical outlet, walled in tile in the shower so have had to break it to get access) doing the work and never showed up to see progress. We tried to reach out multiple times asking him to finish our home. We were literally begging to have a door put up or trim to be complete, amongst other things. He bought the wrong cabinet sizes, told us it wasnt his problem and we had to take back and repurchase at an additional cost to us. He said we could pay him 5k, we owed 10k remainder and could complete it ourselves. He showed up with our cabinets in a truck, along with several doors that had to still be installed. Said he re thought it and wanted **** instead of 5k. If we refused, he would take back all our cabinets and doors and get a cash refund. He said if we didnt like it we could *** him and he laughed. We have had to hire other people to finish the job and correct the errors-plumber, handyman and an electrician as outlets bo longer worked. Today, we found out he bought a cabinet piece worth ****** but refuses to give to us despite the fact we already paid. All in all, we have put out an additional *****. He was also hired by our HOA company to repair the siding. He is using un skilled laborers, again, including the ones who did our home and charged ******* with promised professionals, which did not happen.

We went into contract with this client explaining to them that with this storm there were delays with special order materials. Their cabinets were a 3-4 month waiting period. During the waiting period we had our workers building back their home.  No, we were not going to send them over for an item here there to be done. We explained when we have a significant day or days of work we will send them over, which is what we did.  We were in constant communication with them during this entire period. There are always minor things that need to be addressed when doing Remodeling. There was 1 outlet that was Drywalled over.  We address to have that fixed, in which the customer expressed it was no big deal. He was going to have that outlet moved over to better suit his TV and he forgot to tell ** that, and was going to have his electrician **** care of it. The client and her husband were intoxicated from early afternoon until late at night belittling and creating a hostile work environment during work hours, which then transferred over into late night texts and emails. With apologies the next day when confronted.  They keep referring to professional installers, we had professional installers.  If you were to say that a woman cannot do construction work, that is extremely condescending, since I am a woman owned business. I take that very personally. We have messages that they loved the work we did. we tried to appease them by redoing a couple of things they wanted us to do, not that they were done wrong, just to his specific liking. The cabinets were not ordered wrong, it was a different layout in which we left the plan with them to figure out how to install them since they chose to break contract, a layout in which they approved. After they chose to break contract, they signed off that they are responsible to complete the work themselves which included any punch list items needing to be done (which is standard with any remodel). They had walked into several other units We were completing at the same job site in which they expressed how well the job was done, which were the same non-professional installers at their home. We were advised by other homeowners within that complex to not take their contract, as they are extremely difficult to work with, and our next to impossible to deal with during board meetings. We knew the extent of the damage done and are cities and wanted to help even the most difficult customers. Unfortunately, they have proven their reputation.  I do not like to speak about someones character however, in this case, the accusations made against us are false and they are grasping at straws to ruin our credibility.

      Customer response

      Complaint: 19940093

I am rejecting this response because:
This contractor, ********************************* who is the licensed GC, despite her husband, *************************** who claimed to us he was the owner and GC when we signed the co tract. She is literally lying and gaslighting by slandering us to avoid the fact they are a terrible company.  Please see attached notes from Nextdoor app responses from others , screenshot of an email from another u it he worked on, and some pics. When we fired them this was the bathroom, as an example, we were left to finish as they rarely showed up. We were literally begging to finish. We were well aware of the cabinet delay and that was the least of our complaints. We had agreed to part ways, couldnt deal with them any longer, and still owed 10k. **** agreed to 5k. When he was to deliver our cabinets and some still owed doors and trim, he demanded ****k instead and said if we did not pay him, he would keep it on the truck and keep it. Basically extorting ** for another ****. Of the 8 cabinets delivered, 5 were the wrong size and the skin was not included. My husband had to go to the cabinet company, Highland Cabinet, ***************, to return and get the correct sizes. They said **** already picked up the skin for the back of the cabinet, they called him on speaker and **** claimed he didnt have it, despite them having him sign off. We had to pay an additional $272 for skin and trim.

I was NEVER drunk, Im an RN who works full time and that is a preposterous accusation on my character. My husband was frustrated one night, called and texted ****, and yes, had a drink but was so frustrated we had been ghosted for 3 weeks with no work done. The other neighbors (we NEVER gave accolades to their work as it was the same as ours-terrible) also had substandard work, and 3 of them are not paying the final installments as Bulldog also ordered the wrong size cabinets and unfinished, substandard work and did not complete their punch lists. The notes stating we were difficult to deal with is absurd. My guess she thought this is because my husband has built homes and is well versed in construction and was not accepting  the unskilled results. The 2 unskilled workers did not know what they were doing. My husband is a licensed ********* and had to educate them on caulking, hanging windows and doors, drywall, etc. He did work along side them to get it done correctly. The female contractor she is referring to doing the work was ************************** (one of 2 workers) wife who was a gopher/helper. She is not a licensed electrician and worked on our outlets and electric. We were promised licensed electricians and plumbers, tilers. See above shower picture-we had to hire a plumber to remove the tiles to place the pieces. At one point ******* had his 12 year old son and his wife working in our home.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************************
