In 2005 my husband *** ********* mad a trade with a friend for welding tanks that (our friend had a life time lease or owned these tanks) from 2005 until 2020 we had these tanks filled numerous times with no problem, we never had to pay for anything but the gas. In 2020 the tank needed to be filled, my husband nor I can no longer lift the tanks (due to age), so our son, ***** *********, came out loaded it on the truck and took it to ILMO to be filled, they had him sign something, he thought it was for EPA, he doesn’t really know. He started to get bills on the tank, so he called them and told them the tank was owned that they took, & it was for us. They continued to bill him. He mentioned it to us and I told him I needed the paper work to deal with it. It took him a while to get the paper work to us, he said it is now in collections. He finally brought me the paper work. The first call I made, a man at ILMO was VERY rude, told me it was nearly 4:30 and hung up on me (my phone records show it was 4:03pm) I called again today to give them one more chance to rectify the situation, I was told they had talked to my son and offered him a 5 year lease for $95. When I asked him about it, he said he tried to explain to them that he was having the tank filled for us & it did not belong to him, he said they were very rude with him. On their bill it shows him owing 29.40 per month for years. Their bill shows he owed a total of $1,166.34 My son said the collection agency told him that he owes over $1,800 My son shouldn’t even owe ILMO anything, he paid for the gas when he got it. They took a tank that nothing was owed on, gave him a new tank and started billing him for the tank they exchanged it for. This is now ruining his credit, for doing us a favor. So I am filing this complaint to help remedy this situation.Business response

In Oct 2020, Mr. ********* came to swap out cylinders at one of our stores. A new account was set up for him as all cylinders are tagged and tracked and must be tied to an account. Cylinders need a cylinder lease or monthly rent will be generated until the cylinders are returned. On November 1, 2021, Mr. ********* called and spoke with our Cylinder Manager. He said that he believed there were lifetime leases on the cylinders and would contact his dad to get the name of the original lease owner. The leases could not be located under the names provided by the customer. At that time, the customer was offered 5-year leases as lifetime leases are no longer sold. There was no response from the customer and rent continued to generate on the account. In April 2024, the account was sent to outside collections. Per our collection agency, Ilmo Products has agreed to settle the account once the cylinders have been returned and the customer has agreed.
