I recently filed a complaint against this company but the company refused to respond. The situation has now escalated and the company is posting lies via social media stating that the dog is missing. The dog is not missing! They are nonchalantly trying to make my location known which can lead to possible altercations which is a safety issue for me and my children. The police have already been notified and are aware of the situation, including the fact that Heartland knows exactly where the dog lives.( Heartland came to my home with a police ****** and were turned away) ************ needs to be investigated. This is harassment! The dog is nearly 10 and retired. This isnt about the contract. This is personal attack on my family by a very unprofessional organization.Initial Complaint

Several years ago my husband was diagnosed with sever PTSD and received a service dog from Heartland service dogs in ******, ********. The dog is nearly 9 and has been retired for nearly 2 years. Heartland knew he no longer used Eve. Unfortunately, my husband passed away on 3/21/22. I contacted Heartland to let them know, the owner and him were friends. I was told by *****************, If I was willing to care for the dog, We could keep her. I happily agreed as Eve is part of our family. On 3/22 I received a call from Heartland and was told that I had until Saturday to return Eve because the owner felt that the dog should be re-homed with my late husbands family. She is trying to use a loophole saying that my husband did not sign papers to indicate that he wished for the dog to remain in our home with us. When I asked Heartland why he was never given paperwork indicating his wishes in regards to this scenario, I was told that it wasnt her job to do so and that my husband should have contacted her to let her know his wishes. When she allowed him to keep Eve to be his pet for a year and a half prior to his death she gave her implied consent. The problem is that the owner had no problem telling me that she is friends with my late husbands ex wife. She thinks that she can bully us into taking Eve away from us for her friends benefit which is not in the best interest of the dog. Especially now. The organization should be investigated for not providing the proper paperwork to the clients. The recipients of these service companions are vulnerable and both the clients and their families need protection from these kinds of situations. I also requested the contract, she refused to provide me with a copy.
