We have had *** from Chicagoland Appliance Repair at our house on multiple visits for our Wolf Oven. Summary: (1) He claimed to install 2 new parts that we later found were not installed in our oven; (2) On a second separate visit, he rewired our oven incorrectly.(1) 12/23: Oven preheat time was lengthy. Receipt says he charged us for parts and replaced two control boards. THESE WERE NOT REPLACED.(2) 5/24: [When *** came back, we still thought he had replaced our control boards.] Our oven was showing an "ERR" error on oven, which would not heat. Said he needed to replace main dual control board - HE REWIRED EVERYTHING INCORRECTLY. He noticed he'd done something wrong - when you opened one door, the other side's light went on. Said he would fix it. I had to leave briefly and did not watch his work.He did not fix this, and in fact, the entire repair was incorrectly wired. When preheating, it would stay on "LO" and never change, but continue to get hotter and hotter. I tested with cinnamon rolls, which were black within 5 minutes. (Have photo if needed)We hired Blue Sky Appliance Company 6/13/24 to remedy ***'s work. They showed us the original parts still in the oven (photo included of old boards in oven), which they replaced, wired the oven correctly, and completed actual repair: another $1,195.45.I contacted Chicagoland Appliance Repair to be refunded for the work and parts, $830.66. (The remainder of what we paid is for a microwave he repaired properly.) I also said I wanted to interact with the company, NOT ***. The company does not respond, only directs *** to us. *** has said he will only refund $500 until we return his parts - which we never received. After having to pay a second company another $1,100 to undo his faulty and dangerous electrical work and paying for parts he did not provide us for, we want:- Full refund of $830.66 - Refund to come from company and to not interact with *** to have to create payment plans he has noted in his emails

Customer claims the boards were not installed in the oven? How would an oven work from 05/24 to 06/13 if there are no boards inside and why didn't the customer call us back to come and remedy the issue instead of calling another company? We don't know if the tech from the other company was just making the story up about the wires and parts not being there?
*** is the person responsible for the repairs and knows all the details about this job. I don't see why the customer wants to talk to anyone else who was not there and does not have all the facts about this repair. He is the one responsible for the calls in the ********** area anyways and he is the person to talk to about this.
*** has been repairing things for 40 years, there is no way he is going to make such a mistake. Even if we assume he did, customer should have called us back to resolve the issue with us prior to calling another company.
We are willing to pay back $500 as a gesture of good will. But we are not going to reimburse the customer for the whole amount. The total cost of the boards is $423.11 (See invoices attached).
We have paid for those boards, and we have attached the receipts from Midwest parts store to this response for anyone to see as proof that we did buy those parts. There is no reason for us to purchase these boards if we are not going to use them on this customer's oven.

I don't believe anyone should pay for parts to repair someone else oven. It's just not fair.
Again, as a gesture of good will, we are willing to pay the customer back $500.00 to settle this matter. No payment plan. Customer will get her money immediately. We have never ever been accused of not installing a part on anything all these years and we are not going to start today. The fact that you called another company to come and work on it adds another element to the equation and we don't know what happened after *** left the house on 05/24 all through the time when the other technician came into the picture.

Better Business Bureau: I accept this resolution to close this matter out.

      For the company:
I have attempted to be professional and take the high road in every communication with this company and technician. And in every single case, there emails and communications and been rude and insulting - and inaccurate. The oven still had boards until June, the old original ones. Photos were included with the complaint and in correspondence.

      To address your questions:
Also, after someone has completely miswired my oven and said the work was complete and correct, why would I have him back again? He acknowledged he didn't spend much time on Wolf appliances, so when the work was done wrong, I called someone else to fix it. From that time, we had no functioning oven until the Wolf certified tech came out.

I contacted the company, not ***, because the business is responsible for the work of their employees.

Please provide the $500 refund immediately, no payment plans. It should be sent to:
