In 2023, we hired Spring-Green for a full season of lawn care (fertilization and aeration was free and stated it would be done in the Spring or Fall). Upon the first service of the Spring Green Tech he applied a liquid, which is their 2nd treatment and missed a complete portion of our lawn. We contacted Spring-Green and they stated they would correct the issue. On site tech says notes and the office do not line up, this was also verified in another conversation with the office. All services started with a knock on the door to advise they were on our property. Just to fast forward there were at least three other service issues. One being that we wanted a Spring Aeration and was denied our request, the 2nd was them fertilizing during a drought and a third requiring 2 return applications. This company was told they would be done after 2023. In 2024, on March 4 (per their billing statement) they applied a granular fertilization (this was the first application not applied in 2023), no knock on the door prior to service, I was home, but was unable to stop the tech before he left. On April 29, 2024 the tech stopped by for the 2nd application and knocked on the door, my wife and I were both home and she informed the tech that no 2024 work has been approved and sent the tech away with no service being performed. Subsequently, we received an invoice for both services (neither were approved) the 2nd application charge was removed, but not the first. I sent back one statement to the company and asked them to stop sending invoices for services that we did not approve, they kept sending invoices with interest charges and I sent an email on April 29, April 30 and Sept 10, 2024. The last email asking them if the BBB was needed to clear the matter up. Then on Oct 28, 2024 we received a letter from a collection agency. Which brings us to this complaint. Although we had informed the techs no more service after 2023 the company on its own accord sent someone to service our lawn and bill.

Spring Green apologizes for the overall poor experience that Mr. ********* had with our services and employees.

Spring Greens services are continuous year to year, until a customer contacts us to request otherwise.  Spring Green did not receive a request to cancel the account until Mr. ********** interaction with the ************* Professional on 4/11/24. Spring Green did mistakenly service the lawn on 4/29/24, and we credited that balance as a result.

While Spring Green did not receive the mailed correspondence that Mr. ********* had sent, prior to sending the balance to the collection agency, Spring Green agents did attempt to make contact with Mr. ********* to discuss his balance over the phone, leaving multiple voicemails but not receiving a call back.  At this time, Spring Green has contacted the collections agency to inform them that the remaining balance of $62.61 for the service completed on 3/4/24 has been settled with Mr. ********* and they are to stop further collections attempts.

I am only partially rejecting this response because: While Spring-Green's responses was mostly acceptable, I would also like for the credit "collection" status from this invoice be removed from my credit report history. All other communication and actions are acceptable.

      Sincerely,

Spring Green has communicated to the collections agency, ***, that the balance previously owed has been settled and they are to stop collections attempts. As of today, 11/6/24, Spring Green has confirmed that the balance with the collections agency for Mr. ********* is considered closed. Spring Green does not have any control over how the account appears on a credit report. If Mr. ********* would like to further discuss the details of how it appears on his credit report, or how to remove it from his credit report, we ask that he contact the collections agency directly.

I had been a satisfied customer of ******************** lawn service for about five years. This year, the local lawn service is terrible. My lawn is full of crabgrass and the business has destroyed several of my potted plants. Over the past two months, I have called the business on several occasions - to express my concerns and get answers to my questions. My most recent call was on 9/17/2024 to postpone my scheduled service until I get answers to my questions regarding the timing of the products being applied. The last two times my lawn was serviced (6/19/2024 and 8/15/2024) were immediately before a giant rainstorm which included flooding. The 8/15/2024 service invoice states: Crabgrass has broken through the barrier." On 9/17/2024, while expressing my concerns to the local SpringGreen **************, an employee, **** ******, began laughing at me. I expressed my displeasure that he was being disrespectful and not helpful to me as a customer who paid for a service I did not get, On the same day, I called Spring Green's ************** number to express my concerns. They stated they would have the local branch manager call me. The next day (9/18/2024) the branch manager, **** *****, called. I attempted to express my concerns about service, weeds, timing etc. I also told him about the employee, **** Novard's behavior. Mr. ***** basically said, "**** has worked for me for eight years and he is loved." He dismissed both my lawn concerns and the behavior of the disrespectful employee. At this point, I canceled my service and called the ************** number again. They said they would have a manager contact me to discuss my concerns. A manager never called. I have paid $214.96 to Spring Green for lawn fertilizer and weed treatment. I am left with dead plants, crabgrass, an unhealthy lawn and no remedy to the problem,

We apologize for the experience that Ms. **** has had with Spring Green, as this is not the typical Spring Green experience.  The Spring Green customer service agent that Ms. **** reached on 9/18/24 did escalate her concern above the local branch level, and Spring Greens Vice President of Operations left Ms. **** a voicemail on 9/25/24, but Spring Green has not yet heard back from Ms. ****************** of 9/26/24, due to Ms. ***** dissatisfaction with Spring Greens results and handling of her concerns, Spring Green has issued Ms. **** a refund check for $214.96, which was the amount she had paid for the services that Spring Green completed in 2024. This refund check was mailed to Ms. ***** address in *********, ***

June 2023.While in another State (*******) I was contacted by Spring Green, who I had used for several years, to schedule 2024 lawn services. I explained that I was out of town and needed to wait until I was back in ********. After getting back, I decided that the quality of my lawn was well below the quality I hoped to achieve using Spring Green. I felt I could do as good or better for much less money. I decided I no longer wanted their services. A serviceman came to my door on two occasions to notify me that a treatment was going to be applied to my lawn. I told the servicemen that I wasnt using Spring Green anymore and to NOT apply anything. The servicemen left. Apparently, he (or they) returned and put down treatments. I received a bill for $292.53. I contacted the local office of Spring Green and explained that I was not using them. I was told that I had to notify them in writing or Id automatically receive treatments. I reviewed the bill and it stated, Your Spring-Green Service is continuous from visit to visit, year to year unless we are notified otherwise. There was no mention of in writing. I asked them on the phone while in AZ to hold off services and twice at my front door. But I did not notify them in writing. I didnt know that was necessary and by the billing statement, I dont believe that is necessary. One of the applications was or Total Lawn Insect Control. I was offered that treatment each season and denied every time. Yet, they put it down this season and charged me $104.95. I sent a letter with a check for $292.53 and stated in the letter that they should NOT cash or process the check until I was shown where I was obligated beyond the phone call and the front door contact. They cashed the check and I never heard from them. (I have a copy of the letter if youd like it.)I feel they scammed me by forcing me to use their services even when I explicitly refused.Thank you.

****************** originally signed up for Spring Green services on 3/30/22.  Spring Greens services are continuous year to year until otherwise notified by the customer.  ******************** reminds customers of this on every invoice left with each service, and with renewal letters we mail during the winter season that specify Spring Green will resume services in the spring.

Spring Green apologizes for any misunderstanding that occurred between ****************** and a Spring Green employee, but Spring Green does not need to be notified in writing of a request to cancel or change services; a clear verbal conversation with a Spring Green employee will suffice to cancel or change services.

While Spring Green did receive a check in the mail from ***************** on 7/2/24, we were unable to locate a letter that was sent with it, so we did not receive ******************** specific request in regards to cashing the payment until Spring Green received the details of this BBB complaint. After reviewing the account, it does appear that ****************** attempted to cancel with a Spring Green employee in person on 6/14/24, and potentially even earlier in April 2024.  As a result of these findings, Spring Green has credited a total of $228.15 for the services completed on 4/16/24 and 6/17/24. As ******************** first application in 2024 was completed on 3/12/24, prior to any attempts to cancel the account, ******************** finds that balance was still valid, and part of the payment received 7/2/24 has been applied to that balance. At this time, no further balance is owed from ******************, Spring Green services have been fully cancelled as of 6/17/24, and Spring Green is issuing a refund check in the amount of $228.15 to ******************, mailing the check to ******************* Plainfield, ** address.

We thank ****************** for his past business with Spring Green, and again apologize for the inconvenience this misunderstanding has caused.

Spring Green came to my house and put spring maximizer down without a renewal or any verbal agreement. They sent me a bill and I did not request this service or renew this service. No call, no email, just a bill. They told me I have to pay at least half.

******************** originally signed up for Spring Green services on 3/21/2023.  Spring Greens services are continuous year to year until otherwise notified by the customer.  ******************** reminds customers of this on every invoice left with each service, and with renewal letters we mail during the winter season that specify Spring Green will resume services in the spring.

In 2024, Spring Green serviced the lawn on 4/5/24, completing the Spring Maximizer, as we had not received any communication from ******************* to discontinue services. ******************** contacted Spring Green on 5/10/24 requesting to discontinue services. The customer service agent at that time did request ******************** to pay for half of the service completed on 4/5/24, as the lawn benefitted from the application and services were not cancelled prior to its completion. ******************** requested to speak with a supervisor at that time, but one was not immediately available to take his call. When a supervisor called back later 5/10/24, she left a voicemail for ******************** informing him that Spring Green credited the Spring Maximizer application in full as a courtesy, and that no balance would be owed.

Because Spring Green did credit the application and is not asking for any payment, and has not received a payment in any amount from ******************* for 2024 services, a refund will not be provided.

The lawn care initially was okay, after the last application the liquid must have spilled there were huge areas of burnt out grass on the back and sides of the house. I called up and sent pictures. Its been 3 weeks since they promised to aerate and over seed the entire lawn to fix the damage. After calling to follow up They said they would fix parts of the lawn and stated that that they cant be responsible if they damaged my sprinkler heads. The issue is I have weeds in front , burnt out areas in the back and sides of the house and I dont want to risk damage to my sprinklers. Im asking for a credit of 520 dollars. 400 to repair the damage and 120 refunded for prepaid services I wish to cancel.

      Business response

On 8/31/23, Spring Green did diagnose the majority of the brown spots in question as grub damage, and some brown spots in back were caused by overfertilization.  As we had completed the Total Lawn Insect Control application earlier in the season to prevent grub damage, Spring Green did agree to core aerate and overseed those grub damaged areas to repair them.  Spring Green also agreed to core aerate and overseed the burned areas in the back that resulted from the fertilizer that Spring Green applied on 8/23/23.

When a Spring Green agent spoke with ****************** on 8/31/23 to set up the free core aeration with overseeding, the agent did inform ****************** that he would need to mark the sprinkler heads in those areas.  In order to safely core aerate and overseed, Spring Green does need the customer to mark any sprinkler heads or underground wires or cables buried within 4 below the surface, otherwise the aeration machines tines can severely damage sprinkler heads, wires, and cables in that area.

****************** called on 9/11/23 to inquire when the core aeration and overseeding would be completed, and the agent at that time informed ****************** that we would complete the service within 5-7 business days, weather permitting.  When the agent reminding ****************** that he would need to flag his sprinkler heads, ****************** informed us that he would not, and so the agent reluctantly had to inform ***************** that we would not be able to core aerate and overseed without the sprinkler heads being marked, as Spring Green does not want to risk any damage to ******************** irrigation system.

At this time, as ****************** will not be flagged his sprinkler heads to allow Spring Green to core aerate and overseed the lawn and is requesting a refund, Spring Green has cancelled ******************* account and services, and will be refunding a total of $418.62 to *****************, as that was the complete amount that ****************** had prepaid for services for 2023.  ****************** can expect to receive this refund check in the mail within the next 3-4 weeks, depending on the post office.

On 2/10/23 I paid for a year of service with Spring Green Lawn. One visit was done and weeds continued to grow. Called and asked for a retreatment but business wanted to do second treatment instead. I thought about this and decided to cancel everything since this is not what the rules are as stated on the website. When you buy the full program there is no 14 day requirement for retreatment. I paid $322.67 and want a full refund. Have been told twice that the check was mailed back for a partial refund. ********************************* wants to deduct for the one treatment. I do not agree with this. No payment was received by me. Then she said she would hand deliver a check. Again she lied. This has been going on now for several months. I just want my money back. When you are retired on a fixed income you dont want to be cheated. This is a terrible business with very poor communication and customer service.

Spring-Green Lawn Care Corp., is a national franchise organization, that has over 45 years of industry experience offering professional lawn, tree, and pest control services.? Our standards are amongst some of the highest in the industry and we are well respected in the marketplace. The business that is the subject of this matter is independently owned and operated out of *******, ** by ********* ********************** and is not operated by the Spring Green Lawn Care Corp. in **********, ********. The Spring Green of ******* franchise has operated since 2016.? They have over 650 recurring customers.? While this complaint is not directed at the corporate entity or company owned locations, we provided a response from the independent business below based on information they provided.

The owner of the business personally?reviewed your account ********************** account. ****************** signed up for services Feb 10, 2023. Her first application was completed Feb 16, 2023. ***************** called for a weed re-application on May 13, 2023. The business owner advised her she was due for her second application and that the 30-day Service Guarantee had expired. ****************** advised she understood. On May 15, 2023, ***************** sent an email to Spring Green cancelling services, to which the business owner replied to, reminding her she was scheduled for May 16, 2023, but continued to cancel the service. On May 19, 2023, the refund was issued thru online banking. Since it was a partial refund and not a full refund, a partial refund was not possible to the credit card, since we were charging for the first application; therefore a check had to be issued. ****************** sent another email May 24, 2023, asking about the cancellation and refund,to which the business owner replied advising the previous actions and further explained the refund amount of $275.20. ****************** wanted to discuss the Satisfaction Guarantee again and the business owner explained if she would have called within thirty days instead of two months, they would have either come out for a re-application or refunded the entire amount, however, since that was not the case the charge for the one visit still stood.

On June 1, 2023, the business owner received another email asking about the refund. The business owner cancelled the first check and reissued another check (handwritten) on June 5th, to which the business owner emailed ****************** advising as such. On June 27, 2023, ****************** emailed again asking for address verification because she still did not receive the check;the address was verified, in previous emails also, and again the business owner verified the address again. It was correct. There were 11 emails sent to the business owner on June 27, 2023, which ended by the business owner advising ****************** she would hand deliver another check next week and that the continued, harassing emails needed to stop.

      Exact verbage:

      ******************,
There really is no need to continuously berate me over email. I've said I will personally drop off a check to you next week.  The postal service has failed us both.  And that is that.
      ~******

On June 30, 2023, the business owner dropped a check off in Ms. ******** mailbox and took a picture. More emails were sent by **************** that the business owner did not acknowledge.

I am rejecting this response because:  I have lived at this address for over 50 years.  We do not have any issues with any of our other mail.  There is no reason in these days of instant payment that she should not be able to instantly refund my money.  Their  contract states that when a full program is purchased there is no time frame for cancellation.  She has done this same thing to at least one other customer as I read on your site.   Guess I will have to take her to court to get my money back.   She is a liar and a thief.

As stated in the last reply, a partial refund via the credit card merchant is not possible, only a full refund is the option. Since the full refund was not being given due to the 30 day guarantee having been expired, a check was issued to ****************** for the balance of the services not fulfilled. I am rejecting this response because:  there has been no refund issued.  She also said she would personally deliver a check twice, which did not happen either.   Also there is no 14 day limit if you pay for the full program which is what I had.  She should check the guarantees posted on the website.   I am not the only one she has ripped off.  There is another customer on your website that is almost identical to our situation.   She owes me back for the full amount which she can refund to my credit card.  There are many ways to send money.   She has failed on all accounts.   I have copies of the promises made by email from her.  She is quite the liar.

I set up service with spring green on 4-24-23. Called customer service and asked when a technician would be out and was told 3-5 business days and every 4-6 weeks following that. I received a free aeration of my lawn as a promo for signing up on long. The first service was 5-2-23, but no aeration was performed. Fast forward to 7-10-23, I called because I had not seen a technician come to perform my lawn care since the first service. I was told my customer service that someone had place my account on hold, which was very strange because no one knows who it was. I said ok whatever, lets get someone out here. I was told someone would be out in 3-5 days again. Around 2:35pm I saw a spring green service vehicle outside of my house so I continued to watch and wait to see if he would get out. The technician did not get out of the truck once but somehow sent a report in saying my lawn was great, he was gone by 2:43pm. I called customer service back and was told what i was wrong and the report stated that the technician walked my yard. After being lied to I told ********************* who I was speaking with that the level of dishonesty and unprofessionalism was outrageous and Id like to cancel service and get a refund. He begged and begged not to cancel. After tell him this is canceled he told me my **** payment may be too old to refund and more than likely theyll be mailing a refund check to me in 3-4 weeks. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!!

Spring Green does show that ************** set up 7 applications of weed control and fertilizer, along with a free summer lawn & landscape evaluation and free fall core aeration, on 4/24/23.  We completed Mr. ****** first application on 5/2/23.  When we tried to return to the property on 6/5/23 for the following application, there was construction going on at the time that prevented our ************* Professional from safely reaching the lawn with the equipment needed to perform the application.  We tried to visit the property again on 6/23/23 to complete the second application, but again the construction occurring at the time preventing our ************* Professional from safely reaching the lawn with the equipment needed. The ongoing construction caused local branch management to place the account on hold, until construction was completed and our services could resume.  Spring Green deeply apologizes that this information was not communicated to ************** until his call with **************** on 7/10/23.

When ************** called Spring Green on 7/10/23 regarding his dissatisfaction with services, the **************** agents that he spoke with provided him with the information that our ************* Professional was physically on the lawn to complete the free lawn and landscape evaluation earlier on 7/10/23, as that is how the ************* Professionals are trained.  Spring Green apologizes that the **************** agent who was trying to assist ************** did not offer to reach out to the management team for confirmation or offer to set up another free service call to re-evaluate the lawn and landscape.

************** did cancel his Spring Green services and account on 7/10/23.  On 7/10/23, we did try to process the refund for the remaining $421.52 prepayment to the card ************** had used on 4/24/23 when he originally prepaid, but the bank informed us that the card was non-refundable.  Spring Green did issue a check to ************** in the amount of $421.52, which we put out in the mail on 7/14/23.

I sold my house in ******** 3/2/23 and currently living ** helping out family. I had on many previous occassion told them not to perform services without my consent. Spring Green lawn care is forcing me to pay for services at house I no longer reside in or own. They are forcing me to pay for services allegedly performed in April 1 2023.They claim I did not inform them I sold my house so I am responsible, Which seems ludicrous as they need to verify the customer wants the services.

Spring Greens services are continuous year to year until otherwise notified by the customer.  ******************** reminds customers of this on every invoice left with each service, and also with renewal letters we mail during the winter season that specify Spring Green will resume services in the spring. This procedure has not changed since ************** originally set up services in 2019.

Prior to 6/27/23, Spring Green did not receive any communication from ************** that she would like to discontinue services.  As such, Spring Green did complete 2 services, one on 4/3/23, and one on 5/26/23, for a combined total of $263.60 in services.  When ************** called to cancel on 6/27/23, Spring Green did offer to split the bill in half, offering to take a payment of $131.80 and waive the remaining balance, but ************** did not make that payment.

At this time, Spring Green has waived the entirety of the balance, including the interest charges that had accrued.  As ************** had not made a payment on the disputed balance, Spring Green believes there is no refund to be issued, and considers this matter now resolved.

Ordered services from Spring Green on 3/3/23, on multiple occasions have requested a phone call of when my representative would come to service my home, they claim it's on my account . It's not apparently of making me aware with a day or date of when I'm scheduled to be serviced .The weeds have started to appear on my property so I called on 4/14/23 and spoke to ****** and ***** and then a supervisor *** and tried to resolve the issue but nothing has been done .I requested my full refund for the services since they have a satisfaction guaranteed on their services but that has not happened either .Called Chase and opened a dispute but still waiting for this to be rectified

We apologize for the experience that ****************** has had with Spring Green.  We did complete the first fertilizer application on 3/24/23, having given a call to the phone number ****************** provided on 3/23/23.  ***************** did call about new weeds growing on 4/14/23 and we offered to set up a free service call to treat those weeds, but ****************** requested to cancel his account, which we did at that time.

When we attempted to refund the **** the next business day, 4/17/23, the **** was marked as non-refundable by the bank, so we needed to write two checks to mail to the service address instead; one check in the amount of the unused prepayment, and another check in the amount of the one application the customer received and prepaid for but we are refunding due to dissatisfaction.  The refund checks are going out in the mail tomorrow,4/25/23, at the latest.  As we have yet to receive the charge dispute from Mr. ******** bank, and weve already issued a refund check for the refund amount, we would appreciate if ****************** would contact his bank to notify them that the refund check is on the way.

I am rejecting this response because:

You can never believe anything this establishment states or indicates .

They claim they contacted or tried to refund the charges, that was false, as ***** has no record of anyone attempting this .

I have no trust in anything this business says and will wait until the checks that they claim will be mailed.... I will hold my breath as they are not very trust worthy and by far is the WORST business I Have ever dealt with .

I will contact the credit card company once the checks have been cleared and posted but nothing until that happens, I have been mislead and lied to on several occasions form Spring Green and will make sure others know how crappy they are, they have no customer service and no reputation of how to value customers and others need to be aware of not making the same mistake I did .

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

We have confirmed with our accounting department that the refund checks were mailed via **** yesterday, 4/25/23.  Spring Green understands that ****************** will leave the payment dispute open with his bank until these checks are received.

This all started when we signed up for Spring Green care back in April 2021, the manager came out and looked at my lawn and gave me a price after I told him my concerns of my lawn and was told none of them were a problem. So we signed up for basically full service and I also worked with them the first year to get my results. I rented and manually dethatched my lawn, which I was told would help, I also got 1-1/2 yds. of black dirt and manually spread it in the section of my lawn to level it out. At the end of the first year, things did not work out as planned so I paid for overseeding of Kentucky blue grass seed. Following spring of 2022, I didn't notice grass seed taking very well in the raw black dirt. They came out and looked a few times per my request and then decided to do a slit seeding at no charge to me, since the Kentucky blue grass didn't take and gave me a date of June 2022, which that day came and left, on and off text messages all summer long until Sep. 2022 when the assistant manager of Spring Green contacted me and once again promised me he would be out in a few weeks for the slit seeding that I waited all summer for. And just like the manager, it never happened. ******** excuses and false promises. I do have all the text messages between the manager and the assistant manager. At the end of the 2nd season 2022, I requested a full refund. I believe I paid a total of $719.68, not including the other things I did to help him get the results I was promised. I received a refund of $406.24 and the lawn that is in worse shape than when they started. I'm reminded of this every day when I look out at my front yard and see mud.

Spring Green is dedicated to quality service.  We apologize that we did not meet Mr. ***** expectations of us and that we also did not communicate effectively with *********** regarding scheduling and completion of the promised slit seeding to help the bare areas fill in.  We would like to thank ************ for his previous trust and allowing us to make this matter right by mailing a refund check for the remaining $313.44.

I am rejecting this response because: Even though I would gladly take the rest of the refund, I feel they made my lawn worse over the last 2 years and it would cost me even more to get it back to where it was.  It is now very uneven which is also the reason they were going to slit seed it because it would have helped even out the lawn. I don't feel I'm asking too much after waiting 2 years for them to come out and fix what they promised to do for my lawn in the beginning and I would also like to be a priority and not have to wait all year/season to have it done.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************, Sr>

In addition to processing the previously offered refund, the branch manager has reached out to ************ and we've agreed to perform a free slit seeding in order to help the lawn get closer to **************** expectations for his lawn.  We are planning to complete this slit seeding towards the end of April, as long as the weather allows us to and soil conditions are good.  If we cannot complete this service in late April, we will continue to communicate with ************ to reschedule the slit seeding until it's been completed.
