      Business response

      02/24/2022

We were contacted by Mr. ******* on 11-01-2021 that his furnace made a noise and stopped heating on 10-31-2021. Upon inspection it was found that his blower motor had stopped working, and the housing was damaged and bent. The squirrel usage was most likely damagedwhen the blower was going out and became unbalanced bending the housing and squirrel cage. We contacted our local Rheem wholesaler and gave them the information. Because the furnace was so old they were unable to even locate the model of the unit in the system.

We went back to Mr. ********* and gathered the blower and housing for the suppliers te see if any part or manufacturer numbers listed on the blower and housing would help. At this time we were told the age (53+years) of the unit, as confirmed by the rating plate and that no parts, OEM or universal were available. ’this part would not be available to any wholesalers who supply Rheemparts. We kept Mr. ******* fully informed in our search for a new blower motor and housing for his furnace.

Because Mr. ******* stated he was going to replace his unit his damaged parts were disposed of after 3 weeks of storing them. We were contacting Mr. ******* via text message and call phone on a daily basis to help him get financing and heat established, and when he would finally call us back he would tell us he was going into our localbank where our financing is done. Mr. ******* had two appointments set with them and did not go to either of them. I then offered to provide him with thepapers to sign for the bank to run a credit report so they can just do a financing application over the phone. This is a service I provide to all my customers. No financing can be done until the credit report and application is collected from the customers and they have spoken to the loan officer.

Mr. ******* finally stopped returning our calls and texts to him. Weeks had gone by when Mr. ******* expressed wanting his parts back and was informed again that we have disposed of the parts after 3 weeks boing as they did not work, were unrepairable and he stated he was going to replace the unit.

Mr. ******* has kept 2 heaters that were provided complimentary to him until his furnace could be replace and as far as we are aware he still has them. He has stated he will not return them to us and has threatened to take us to court, We are unable to do anymore for him being as he will not accept his unit is obsolete (53+ years old) and needs replaced. no parts are available to fix or repair this unit.
