Blackbird Contracting LLC, was to provide a complete remodel of our master bathroom shower. The shower was completed, however there were many corners cut, improper installations, potentially leading to future water leaks. As you can see in the pictures uploaded, there are many flaws with the craftsmanship to this installation. I had a meeting with the owner, *** *****, about the repairs that needed to be done. Initially he said they would be done. I the. Sent him a recap of our meeting to confirm what we talked about. He was to do the following, completely remove and replace the east facing wall, tile work. Re-install the shower door. Fix the drywall on the north facing wall. His response to my recap was that he would be reusing tile and concrete backer board for the tile work. Anyone familiar with tile work will tell you that this is not proper methods for repair, especially in a shower. I told him that this was not acceptable. He let it be known that he would not be covering the expenses for the repairs that needed to be done. I have ALL emails pertaining to this job. I did not sign a contract. As I was not aware I needed one, per Illinois State Law, for any work being performed over $1,000. I was not given my “consumer rights” letter as required by the State of Illinois. After intense negotiations, he made it aware to me that he did not feel comfortable doing the repairs. I have been taken advantage of and I would think this to be fraud. I am seeking $2,620 in refund. This is half of what the total job cost me. As stated, I have all emails pertaining to this. I have all text message in regards to this job. I would like to have someone contact me asap to discuss this.Business response

After much negotiation with this customer, I agreed to refund him the profits from this job which was $1500. He would not agree to that.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
There are major functionality issues as well as craftsmanship issues with this incomplete project. My shower door does not close properly. The shower door hinges are not properly secured to the wall, thus leaving me with a shower door improperly installed. Screws are stripped out in the frame of the door.This contractor is a fraud. He took his money and ran after we came to an agreement as to which repairs needed to be done. He as not once, since our first meeting about the issues, has made my repairs a top priority. He complained that he had a full schedule and wouldn’t be able to get my repairs done ASAP. Then after multiple email exchanges, none of which were hostile, combative, or rude in nature, he proceeded to tell me that he no longer felt “comfortable” being in my home to do the repairs.
I 100% reject his offer.
