Review from The White's W
1 star02/03/2024
If I could, I would give a 0 star. My husband and I had a house fire in August of 2023. We went with a different restoration company but weren't happy with their performance. That's when I found Restoration1, **** Premer in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When my husband and I met with him at our house, he was so confident in getting our house back together. Our house had more water damage than anything. **** told us we would be back in our house in 3-4 months. Clearly, that didn't happen. His incompetent team wasted the whole month of November, later found out they got pulled over on their way back from the job for drugs. ****'s team destroyed some of our property, never cleaned up after their shift and left their trash and drinks everywhere. **** never really communicated with us and always had some excuse as to why no one would be at the house working. If I were you, I would find a local contractor to where you can save money because his overheard and profit is outrageous. I called **** to voice some concerns and also informed him that we felt essentially we were getting raked over the coals in labor charges. **** got his feelings hurt and breeched out of the contract and decided to invoice us out and pull out of the job leaving my husband and I with a gutted house and siding. **** found it acceptable to take $79,000 and leave us with a project that is 50% done.Restoration 1 of Fort Wayne Response

Thank you for voicing your opinion. However, let's start off this statement by being factual. Did you receive upfront pricing? Yes, you did. Was the estimate reviewed and modified multiple times to accommodate what your needs were for the house? yes, it was. So, to say you had no idea what the charges were is false. I allowed you and your husband to bring in other contractors to offset the additional cost you were incurring. However, each and every time you had someone come in, they were always higher than my estimate. To say the Overhead and Profit side of the estimate that was approved by you and your insurance company is inflated, this is false. Should I mention all the repairs we made to the main level of the house. Would people be interested in knowing all were made at no charge to you. The rotted exterior walls that we rebuilt to hold up the second floor. The main floor joist system we leveled and secured. The chimney we took down. All of this took time and never was charged for. The upstairs sub-floor we redecked to make sure it was structurally sound to walk on without falling through the floor. Making the upstairs larger at no cost to you, just moving money around to get you what you wanted. I have text messages from you, thanking me for the repairs.
Let's talk about the timeline for the repairs. Restoration 1 is not a bank! We start and continue our projects based on payments. We started the project when we received the initial payment and thank you for that. Then we requested our second payment that took almost 2 months to get. I had my crew finish the siding and exterior of the house even though I had my concerns about the second installment. As a business owner I have to make those financial discissions daily. Do I drop more money in a project that is slow paying or do we place our resources in a project that are paying us on schedule? Not saying you wouldn't pay us, and it's probably not your fault but your mortgage company has caused you delays in this project. May I ask what review rating are you giving them? Secondly, you asked my crew if they were interested in taking the project from me. My crew has recordings of you doing so, because they were uncomfortable by the conversations between the two of you. Also, just because your husband in an outside sells person for a lumber company doesn't make him an authority on pricing and labor cost. Every other company is going to tell you this! Oh, yell I could have done it cheaper, better or faster. It is easier to say than do. The pricing is set by your insurance company, and you were just fine with it until you started wanting things done to your house you couldn't afford. Even with we trying to accommodate you.
We took a house that should have been condemned and tried to make it structurally sound again. Should I have kept you better informed of how bad your house was? Yes, I should have but I didn't I just told my crew to correct the issues and move forward. So, that communication is 100% my fault.
Now as far as you statement on the phone! This is what you said so let's make it very clear to all that might read this. You said and I quote: You are ****** us and racking us over the coals. Your pricing is outrageous. My response to that is we will bill you out for what we have done. My experience is there is no way to come back from those statements. So going one's separate ways is always best. plus, with you trying to poach my crews to finish your project just tells me your mind was made up before calling me. I have so many texts contradicting the reviews you have made. I am sorry you allowed your mouth to get ahead of your brain. Good luck in finding someone as accommodating as Restoration 1 has been.
