November 2021 - Interior Channel was contracted to perform work at my property located at *****************, as detailed in a report provided to them from engineer. They were paid in full - $17,000. Upon reinspection by the engineer, he found that work was not completed properly. I asked Interior Channel to return and complete the work and they informed me that they would not do any more work unless I paid them more money.

      To whom it may concern:

This response is to the complaint dated 3-24-22.

The customer feels that we should do more work at no cost. He feels this way because he had an engineer's letter that states that the engineer feels that more work is needed.

The engineer's initial report states that a qualified contractor should install helical piers to support the foundations. He did not state how many piers should be installed or where they should be installed.

Our signed agreement with the customer was to install eleven helical piers to provide lift and stabilize the foundations. This work was completed the first week of December 2021. The customer thought that we should do more work that our agreement stated. We did additional work to try and please the customer because he didn't want to pay us. It wasn't until 40 days after the work was completed that he paid us.

He hired the engineer to return and give his opinion on part of the work that was done. The engineer amended his initial report to say, "our office feels that this will be structurally sound if an additional pier were installed"  The owner thinks that we should do this at no cost to him.

In conclusion, we fulfilled our agreement with the customer and did more than the agreement said. We were paid for our work, which includes a 10 year warranty that is transferrable. We will not do anymore work for this customer without and agreement to get paid for our work. We have communicated this with him.

      Respectfully,

      *********************

I am rejecting this response because:

      Rebuttal to Interior Channel:

I do not agree with the characterization of our exchange. I paid $17,000 for the job and the job was not completed.  Interior Channel was hired to complete this job per the engineer's report. It was their error to only install eleven pilings as this was not sufficient to complete the job properly. When they were done there was still a gap between the foundation and floor joist. They said that they would come in and patch that. It was then that I brought the engineer back in to see if that patch would be sufficient and it was then that he informed us that patching would not be sufficient, rather an additional piling was required. Interior Channel should have returned to complete the job correctly by installing the additional piling.

      Thank you.
