I brought my car in for a quote to replace a noisy bearing. But instead of that quote, I was given an inspection report ($175 fee) and a $7K quote for other work which did not include the bearings. When I asked why the bearings weren't included, they said the tires were making the noise. Then, I took my car to a suspension specialty shop, and they verified it needed both front bearings. I replaced both front bearings, and now the noise is gone. My tires are fine. Autopotenza quoted me $7K of work that wouldn't have fixed the underlying problem.Afterwards, I contacted Autopotenza explaining the situation and asked for a refund of the $175 inspection fee. They refused. Here's a quote from their inspection report:"The vehicle has a noise very similar to that of wheel bearings, but the problem comes from the rear tires, these tires are deformed, usually this is due to damage to the cushioning of the vehicle, to solve this problem it is necessary to replace the rear struts and the rear tires. otherwise, the hum will continue to happen. and then test again. for now, we do not see any evidence of wheel bearing damage."I've attached the receipt for your review.

On 5-12-22 at approx. 12pm ET, ********************************* (my spouse) dropped of our **** ******** C320 at Autopotenza West with ********************************* (manager). The requested repairs were (1.) rear left window motor replacement, (2.) replace front and rear brakes. At approx. 4pm EST, ******* E spoke with ******* and advised that an oil change was recommended due to the date of the last oil change. ******* provided authorization for the oil change contingent upon price match with ********************* Change (**** E ******************, **********, ** *****). The agreed upon cost of the oil change was $149.94 + tax. After not receiving updates on the status of repairs for the **** ******** C320 on 5-13-22, ******* contacted Autopotenza on 5-16-22 requesting an update. He was told that the car was next in line and would receive updates by 5-17-22. On 5-17-22 at approx. 2pm EST, ******* contacted ******* stating that the car was ready for pick up and the balance owed was $333 which included a $130.00 inspection fee + oil change. ******* refuted the price per initial verbal price agreement to perform work. ******* claimed that to perform the left rear window repair that an full inspection must be performed on the vehicle. This claim was refuted and validated, in 2021 the same issue occurred on the rear right window and was repaired by Autopotenza without a full inspection of the vehicle. On 5-18-22 at approx. 10am EST, I contacted ******* to confirm if the brakes and rear left window had been repaired. ******* explained that parts were not ordered parts and he would send me a text with the prices for parts + labor to complete the repairs. Due to the prices quoted, I decided against Autopotenza performing the work and contacted ******* at approx. 4pm EST to arrange vehicle pick up. At approx. 5pm EST, I went to pick up the car. ******* would not release the car unless I paid $221.60 for the oil change vs. $149.94 + tax. My credit card was actually charged for $226.03.
