      March 5, 2024 Schmucker Quality Construction came to our property. We explained that we would like a pole barn constructed. We showed our proposed site for the pole barn, just to the west of the concrete parking pad adjacent to our current garage.With the proposal for the pole barn they offered a metal roof on our home at a reduced rate. I signed a proposal/agreement for 3648 pole-barn construction and a metal roof to the house. The agreement included: Down Payment = $20,000; 3 Progress Payments of = $20,000.00; and Balance Due = $6,895.75 The agreement stated that the located per owners spec.On 03/05/24 I made the down payment of $20,000.On 3/14 **** Schmucker, the project manager for the pole barn construction, contacted me and talked about the construction. **** stated that he would go to ****** and get the proper permits. He expressed concern about the proposed site and suggested moving the site to the other side of the property. There is a functional large shed on the site he proposed. Further, my wife, who is blind and has mobility issues, was opposed to the south/west placement.On 03/15 a roofing crew placed a metal roof on the house. On 03/18/24 I received a copy of the Warranty and made a Progress Payment for $20,000.**** informed us that the County refused to issue permits for the proposed location.April 16, 2024 I emailed Schmucker Construction and texted **** that since they were not able to place the building where we wanted, send me an itemized bill for the roof and return our money.April 19th **** Schmucker contacted me. I responded that since they were not able to fulfill the contract with the location we had planned, we considered their agreement void.On April 30th I again asked for our monies to be returned. **** argued that we broke the contract and therefore they will have to charge us our metal roof rate.I have heard nothing more from Schmucker Quality Construction.

      Dear ********************, we apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to install the pole barn in the location that you wanted due to the county not allowing it. We strive to make our customers dreams come true with ********************** and professionalism while also maintaining the proper codes of construction.

      We issued a refund of the funds you paid towards the balance of the pole barn, but you were still charged for the metal roof we installed. (Greatly Discounted) (At COST). We always try to take care of our customers.

      Oh! by the way, that Copper roof color you chose looks fabulous on your home!!! :) :)

      We signed a roofing contract with Schmucker Quality Construction on July 26, 2022. They called and scheduled to come out to do the repairs for us on August 23, 2022. They did not show up to begin work, nor did they call to inform us that they were not coming. My husband ***** called them. They said that it had been moved to Thursday, August 25 due to materials not being ready. Our materials were delivered to our driveway on Wednesday, August 24. My husband took Thursday off to be here for the workers. They did not show up until 2pm that day. They completed our entire roof repair in under 3.5 hours. When they left, I noticed that they had taken a planter out of one of my flower beds and failed to put it back. They also had smashed two of my plants in our walkway flower beds. The next day, my husband noticed ****** large cut outs in our new drip edge installed by Schmucker in 3 different spots. He went into the attic, and noticed foot holes through the wood slacks that they had just covered up with shingle. He could see writing on the back side of the shingles through the holes, so we have pictures of where moisture barrier was never laid. We also have a gutter that is hanging where it looks like someone stepped and never fixed. We called Schmucker several times about the areas of concern. They have sent out the same repair man 4 different times with no notice to us, but he stated that he does not want to put his name on the mess that they have created. He did reinforce the holes in the attic, but does not want to fix anything else. We do have his #. He has stated these concerns to the company themselves, but nothing has been done. The project manager has come out, but gave my husband the run around about how things are not as bad as we think they are. Another supervisor came out to meet with ***** and pointed out several areas that need redone. We have called the Building Inspector and had notes put in our file. Schmucker said a bill was sent but it has not.

However, with the changes our company has been making to better serve you, there has been some miscommunication and confusion played on our behalf.        I am rejecting this response because:

      We feel as if this company is doing the bare minimum to repair what was broken by their roofers. We are just asking to get the quality of work that we were promised when we signed the contract. They show up when we are not here without warning, and expect us to be able to leave work to accomodate them. It should be the other way around. Roofs are investments, and I do not trust what was placed onto my home.

      We had those guys to install the roof and the damage brand new window trim when was not even a year yeah all they sent one of the employees out here to fix it didnt do a very good job the caulking crack within a week so Id rather have the people who install the windows to come out here and retrim the windows I called those guys and talk with them they told me somebody would call me its been two weeks havent heard anything from them ******** renewal install the windows I have pictures of the damage done by Smuckers construction

      We do apologize for the damage that happened to your window trim. To our knowledge it was the aluminum wrapping that was damaged from a shingle on the tear off. We did have that replaced on 5/13/22. The crew let us know they had to redo it several times to meet your specs. Per our text and phone conversations approximately a few weeks after the repair was made your main concern on the repair that we done is the caulking is now cracking. As that is normally out of our control since that is product and not workmanship. If you provide us the new caulking you wish to use we are more than happy to reseal it.

      According to our knowledge the roofing that was performed on your property has been completed to your satisfaction.

       I am rejecting this response because:

      I watched him repair that window trim the first time they did it it wasnt  up to my satisfaction so I let them know and they told me that they would re-trim the whole window and I  went out there and looked at it i point out several things that was wrong with it I didnt say I was satisfied I didnt say anything and went  out the week after they had installed that trim I went outside looked at the window all the
      caulking was cracked Im not satisfied with there work I want them to get a hold of ******** Windows and replace it And to charge Smuckers for it but have ******** people do it so its done right
