On Sat. 04/30/22 ********* rep. ***** arrived at our house, discussed the purchase of a heating and cooling package to replace our old units. I selected the second lowest offer. He stated he required a $1000 deposit for the $11000 sale. I gave him the $1000 check made out to **** Carlile Heating and Cooling. He asked me to sign, on his I pad, the invoice for the sale and initial another line. When he left he said he would call us Monday, and could begin installing by Wednesday. I had no paperwork of the transaction. On Sunday, we got an e-mail with a copy of the invoice attached. The e-mail stated they could not order any equipment or start work until I paid 70% of the invoice amount of $10,727.00. I noticed the $1000 deposit was not deducted from the sale invoice. I also noticed they had a non-programmable thermostat and we made it very clear we wanted a programmable thermostat.I also saw, for the first time, that I had initialed a disclaimer saying the company hadn't done anything wrong and I had no discrepancies with anything. I figured I could ask **** about it when he called on Monday. He did not call on Monday, so I responded to the e-mail, and I thought it sent, but today I discovered that was a no reply e-mail.On Tuesday I called another heating and air company to ask it it was odd about the $1000 deposit and the immediate demand to pay 70% of the invoice. They told me, with concern, I ought to look into that. She also reminded me I likely had a few days to back out of any contract for no reason at all. I called their ************** No answer. The recording said all reps were busy, and to press "1" if I wanted them to call me back. They have not. So, here I am Tuesday evening, I found an e-mail for the sender of the invoice and told her I was cancelling the agreement. I sent that a few minutes ago.The $1000 check has been cashed.Still no contact I decided they were delaying so I couldn't back out of the contract.
