We first brought our car to Bonner Springs Auto Repair to replace a damaged motor. They got the used replacement motor for us and charged $5000. They had the vehicle for several weeks before we got it back. When we got it back, we had continued issues and had to keep bringing the car back to get fixed. Sometimes it cost us extra money, sometimes it didn't. This has been going on for months now. There have been a few occasions where my son has been stranded on the highway (very dangerous). We always had to pay for the tow charges. The last time we took the car back in, I informed them that if they can't fix it that we would be contacting the BBB for help. We desperately need this car fixed and to stay fixed as it is the only transportation my son has to go back and forth from school. I called the business today at 3:30 and they said Adam would be contacting me as soon as he returned from errands. They close at 5:00 and Adam did not call. I am submitting this complaint because this is not the first time I was told I would get a call to work it out. Also, I just found out that I have to have neck surgery and will be in a neck brace for three months unable to drive. My doctor said to stay away from stress. This is definitely not helping.Business response

He had it at a couple different shops and nobody would fix it because this type of car is known for problems. It needed a motor but motors are so expensive and the only place you can get one is a salvage yard. He found a motor at a salvage yard that was decent miles. The salvage yard wouldn't even put a warranty on the $2,800 motor. I advised him it wasn't a good idea but he said he couldn't afford to buy another car. It took like two weeks to get the motor shipped to us but then we put it in. He had some trouble with it and had to get another turbo for it from the salvage yard. Finally got that repair done and he took it and had it a few weeks and had some more issues so he brought it back. When the car breaks down, it literally shuts down. He had it towed a few times back here and we fixed the problems. One time it was the boot - it blew apart. That was just bad luck, it had nothing to do with the motor. That took a week and half to get from the dealership. Then it needed an oxygen sensor. It came back another time because the cam shaft center went bad. He's just frustrated with it because he spent a lot of money on it. I advised him against it from the beginning but he was insistent that we put the motor in.
We never charged him any labor when he had to come back. He paid for the parts because it was not a part of what we did.I'm surprised to see this complaint because we bent over backwards for him.
