On May 19, a severe storm came through Halstead, KS. The next day, the amount of damage we had was more than we could handle on our own. I could see that the vent was hanging off the chimney, allowing water in. Gable roofing had brought us a flyer and were still in front of our house when I asked them to see if they could fix/secure our vent. They assured us that it was fixed, but would need more screws and would come back the next day. They later sent an invoice for $150. On May 29th, an insurance adjuster came to give an estimate for the damages and informed me that the vent was not secure, that the screws were ripped out and that it was leaving over. Essentially, what he was saying, was that it had not been fixed as we were told. I love in a 2 story house and did not climb up their on my own. I simply trusted that it was repaired as promised. When I contacted them about this not being fixed, they blamed a branch, but did not offer to fix it. I don't feel responsible for a repair bill, when a repair wasn't made.

We came to ******** because of family, we did hand out flyers but leave it up to the homeowners. to make contact with us. We didn't want to be pushy. We knew it was a. a sensitive time. and we wanted to be respectful. while we were loading up our things to leave. A neighbor had come down the with a case of water offered to help. carry back to her house.  It was at that time Brandy had. came from her yard to where we were at. in the street Talking with this other neighbor. and asked us if we could help her. out with her chimney vent that had fallen out during storm. I said absolutely. I went over. I grabbed my ladder. I got on the roof I assessed it. Determine I was going to need more screws after I spent about an hour or so trying to get it fit in but the screws that were in there had been ripped out through the flashing or flange.  I stopped and got some screws in the morning, some thicker ones, I came back, and I reattached it. We noticed that the next day that it had come out again. I went back on the roof and reattached it a second time. I did notice a branch that had made marks on the top of it, and I observed the branch while it was blowing in the wind, and it was catching it and pulling on it.  I cut the branch back so it would be completely out of the way. I screwed it back in with more screws It was attached at that time when I left it. There was another storm that came through a day or so after that, and that's when we heard about it not being up there from Brandy, I believe it came out during the recent storm, also the first time that I put it up there they wanted to know how much for my time of doing it. And I. told them no charge and they insisted I charge them, Her partner, ******* insisted that I know what I'm worth. And I told them, you know, I didn't want to feel like I was doing it just for money. I wasn't. I was doing it because we were there, and they needed help. I told them I wasn't going to charge them, and they were insisting on. paying me something. And they threw out the number of $150. And then when I up how much time I had invested in it, and new screws that I had purchased and. drive time up there, it just all kind of added up together to where I decided to go ahead and send an invoice for what they insisted on in the very beginning. We were there just yesterday, 6-3-2024 Across the street cutting a neighbors tree off of her front porch and I noticed. no vent hanging off a chimney. I'd like to add that we were also told we would be doing their jobs or be the contractor that they would be using for their jobs as well as a rental property of Raymond, which they asked us to put an emergency tarp up on that roof at the rental house. and we are a storm restoration roofing company. We work with the insurance companies, and we use xactimate The same pricing database that all the insurance carriers do. I invoiced ******* and got a threatening rude email that they were going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because they thought I was taking advantage of them, because the price was more than what they were expecting or what he was wanting to pay or what I what he thought I was worth. This is something that he can turn into his insurance and possibly be compensated back for We were mitigating the loss any further. They asked us to put the tarp up. But the big glaring similarity here is they were going to file a complaint against us on the to the better business bureau.  And then now here's this complaint with the Better Business Bureau. And funny thing about it. We haven't been asked to do the job or jobs, nor have we been paid for either service we did. ****** searched us out in the street. Yes, we handed her a flyer. but we leave it up to the homeowner to then get a hold of us. But we were trying to help with restoration to their property as a whole job when we feel they used us doing into a couple little tasks. Enticing us with the promise of getting to be the contractor for the job. and not using us and now complaining to the better business bureau so they dont have to pay us for both of the things that we did I don't know. This just sounds really um. frivolous.

False statement #1 - added NAILS to chimney vent

TRUTH - Gable Roofing purchased and installed NEW SELF TAPPING SCREWS

False Statement #2 - sent emails after the adjuster meeting for the agreement to be signed

TRUTH - Sent email night before adjuster meeting as the contingency is contingent on the approval of the adjuster meeting where we then ask that we be the preferred contractor of homeowner as we are working for free up to that point

False Statement #3 - Adjuster Recommends

TRUTH - Adjusters do not recommend repairs or replacements or item and products, they approve like, kind, and quality that is paid on an Actual Cash Value And Replacement Cost Value using Recoverable Depreciation to split the payment into two in the hopes of negating fraudulent activities with the insurance proceeds meant for indemnification to property

Basically everything you say is false, or construed from what actually happened, or have just flat out lied, show your work ****** show photos of the communication between us where it is after the adjuster meeting and for any and all of your complaints oh and every time you decide to complain I am given 10 days to respond so this is the reason you keep getting a communication from us, also you are incurring late charges...you now owe $175.00

There is more I am just out of the alloted 30 minutes I get to respond to all your lies and false accusations and misrepresentations

I had the company that originally installed the fireplace, chimney vent and chimney liner.  They said it was not repaired.  The liner has collapsed and needs to be replaced.  They said they would have to redo it.
