On 09/30/2022, I had dental surgery. I have 3 insurances. The main one is *** **** ******* which has to be ran first, the second one is *** **** ****** **** ******* the third is a a supplement that I pay for ** ******** ********** My out of pocket expenses were $1993. None of my insurances were submitted. I have reached out to the dentist office no less than three times. I am asking for a refund of the overpayment that I made. My benefits will expire on 12/31/2022 and I’m trying to get a resolution before then. This caused an overdraft to my account and the dentist office took the check to the county clerk’s office for payment. I paid the check but they are refusing to refund my overpayment. I don’t want credit with this office as I am going elsewhere.

      Business response

      12/16/2022

At her initial evaluation on 04/22/2022, the complainant was told that her expected portion for the recommended procedure was $1993. She was informed that the amount was due in full at the time of the procedure. A prior authorization was done as the patient requested for her ** ********. They returned said authorization confirming the patient's amount due. Upon arriving at her scheduled procedure, the patient was asked to pay her $1993 owed, with the understanding that if and when insurance pays, if it was more than expected, she would be refunded that amount paid by them. Patient verbalized understanding and wrote out a check for the $1993. The bank contacted us the next day, as they were unable to process the patient's check due to insufficient funds available. Therefore, the check was never cashed and was not the direct cause of the patient's account being overdrawn. When we were given the cold check back from the bank, we submitted it for payment to the ****** ********** ******. Their office was able to collect payment in full and returned it to our office for services rendered to the patient on 09/30/2022. The insurance claim for that date of service has been properly handled and was sent to ******* ****** as that is the patient's primary insurance. The verified claim id is: *********. We are not able to submit this claim to the secondary or tertiary insurance plans until an EOB is delivered to our office from ******* ******. The secondary and tertiary insurances will deny the claims until an EOB can be provided. If and when the insurance pays anything, the patient will receive her refund, as promised. Until then, the services rendered have been paid for and her account is in good standing with our office.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I have spoken to all 3 of my insurance providers. I also attached claims status for that period and it shows where a claim was never submitted. All that I’m asking is for this business to do is submit the claims. My treatment was never completed because I refuse to deal with a business that is not honest. Please submit the claims to my medical insurance *** **** *and my *** ******. I have very good insurance that will pay most of this claim.

      Sincerely,
      ***** *****
