My 93 year old step father went to er last night at 6:30 with extreme swelling in his leg after 4 days on home lasix. Blood pressure up and down and severe pain when woke in morning. They did not have a dr in the er?? Only a PA. They did do ultra sound looking for blood clots. They did chest XRay but no radiologist pa read it. They pulled blood but not sure if anyone to check it PA just said.everything was fine and wrapped leg and sent him home. Dont we go to ER to see a Dr????

If I could leave no stars, I absolutely would. Unfortunately, it only takes one person to ruin the entire impression on a patient. After a motorcycle accident, my boyfriend was admitted with surgery in the near future. After being admitted into the emergency room, he was admitted as a patient on the floor. The RN who was on duty the first night was amazing! She did whatever it took to get his pain at a manageable level and made sure we had everything we needed. The day shift nurses left so much to be desired. While making an adjustment to his meds, a time span of 8+ hours passed without being given any pain medication. Yes he asked, more than once. The Dr prescribed an ointment for the road rash, according to the package, it is to be applied 4 times daily. As of the writing of this review, it has been applied once by anyone on the medical staff. I understand this is considered a “learning” hospital but the staffed medical should do a better job at overseeing the students, especially if they are administering iv drugs. Our surgeon is affiliated with this hospital and we will be requesting a different hospital to accommodate his needs in the future.

Since I got NO response from Mercy, I'll post my recent experience with the Urology department. I arrived at 1:45 for my 2:00 appointment with Urology. I went to the reception desk and signed in. There was no receptionist nor an informational sign indicating so. Staff in the reception area seemed to ignore anyone signing in. At around 2:15 an intake assistant (?) came to the lobby and called me to come back. She weighted me, handed me a bottle, no lid (?) and told me to leave a urine sample and go into the adjacent room when I was done. She came in and took my blood pressure and verified my medications and did a bladder scan. Said the doctor would be with me in a few minutes, and departed. At 3:00 I stepped into the hall and an assitant asked what I wanted and I told her if the PA was busy, I would reschdule some other time. She said the PA was still with the patient ahead of me. I sensed an underlying tone of "just wait your turn." Since my time is valuable to me, perhaps not to Mercy Health Care, I decided to cut my losses and leave. So, I spent an hour to drive in to Paducah to be on time for my appointment, an hour or more waiting around, and an hour to return home. Essentially three hours of my time was wasted due to someone's lack of time management skills and total disregard for me as a person, much less a patient. The PA's assistant should have been aware that the PA was running behind schedule and I should have been informed that it would a long wait, not a "few minutes." I could have been given the option to wait over an hour more, or reschuled. NO PATIENT should be left in a room for 45 minutes without any clue as to why. I found the environment to be unwelcoming one. A smile of acknowledgement upon sign in, or at least a written sign that states "please sign in a seat yourself" might have helped. My opinion from my experience, try another health provider.
