      This complaint is about Investar’s reporting of my auto loan as a charge-off on 12.31.21. I have tried multiple times to settle this matter directly with Investar to no avail. Loan #******** began 6.26.15 & matured on 9.26.21. On 9.18.21, Investar’s online payment portal listed the balance at $749.75, which was paid. By 12.27.21, I hadn’t received the title so I called Investar. Agreeing the loan was paid off, they apologized that a request to remove the lien wasn’t submitted to the La OMV. On 12.31.21, I received the title via mail. Next, I received a letter dated 12.31.21 from Investar stating the loan was PAID IN FULL. But according to Experian and Equifax, Investar reported the charge-off the same day. On 1.24.22, I spoke to Jack Mitchell in the collections department who informed me about $764.03 in unpaid late fees which I was unaware. After pleading my case & paying the fees, he assured me it would be fixed but it wasn't. In late February 2022, I spoke to Lawrence, a very rude manager in the collections department who refused to help. He actually told me that I somehow benefited from their mistake because I got the title before the loan was paid off. My argument to have this fixed is as follows: 1. The online payment portal did not display or allow payments of said late fees. 2. A delinquency was first reported in 11.2021 and quickly “charged off” on 12.31.21. 3. No communication from Investar about the unpaid balance (if payment was late in years prior, Investar’s Darby Huevel would always call & email). 4. The charge-off amount of $764.03 is tiny compared to the loan amount of $50,854. 5. Spoke to Investar on 12.27.21 about the title yet nothing was said about an outstanding balance. 6. 12.31.21, I received the title from the La OMV. 7. I received a PAID IN FULL letter from Investar dated 12.31.21. Investar's multiple mistakes led me to believe my loan was paid off. They dropped the ball and my credit score continues to suffer because of it.
