Paid for headstone . Will not answer phone . Emails are blocked. Website is gone. Last time I emailed him he said it was delayed and she be in January. Now it's Feb. I contacted him and everything is blocked.Initial Complaint

My home in Creole, Louisiana was destroyed during Hurricane Laura while my husband was in ICU. He died of COVID two weeks later. One month after my husband's funeral, I met with the owner of Monumental Life to design a headstone that was an appropriate tribute. The owner assured me the headstone could be done. One month later, we discussed design, I was given a quote and I paid for the headstone in full. I gave all photos for the headstone to the owner in November 2021. He sent a text to me in December 2021 asking questions about the design. I responded and answered all his questions. In Jan 2022, I received a text from him of the design. There were several significant mistakes of details that I had gone over with him in previous communications. We had discussed numerous times my wishes and he would always confirm he understood. January to March of 2022, I received a few texts from the owner about delays in production due to Covid and various issues in his family. My children and I were very understanding and patient although the owner had been given our payment in full for over a year. April 2022, after design errors, the layout was 100% to my satisfaction. I called at the end of April and was told a part to his machine was on backorder so the job could not get started. May 2022, I was told the part had not arrived. He assured me the headstone would be finished and installed by the end of May and before Father's Day. Father's Day came and went, and as of today, my husband's grave is still unmarked. Since the last text I received from the owner, it is obvious my number has been blocked at his end, along with the cell phone numbers of my two children who tried to get a status on their father's headstone. In July 2022, I sent a certified letter via USPO which remained unclaimed. I pray the BBB can help me.Initial Complaint

On 10/28/21, we purchased a headstone for our sister *****. As the pictures state, the amount of $550.15 was paid to purchase the stone from Monumental Life there in Lake Charles. I have been dealing with the owner ***** ****** . I have texts dating back to October following the progress. Fast forward to the late March early April time frame. He had to re-verify the design but then it was delay after delay to get it installed. I had to call the City of Westlake to have the exact spot be identified so he could set it. A woman named ***** ***** at the mayor's office was supposed to pass that information along. Fast forward again to May 25th and the stone still had not been set. After yet another excuse, ***** said it was finished and would be set by Monday the 30th of May. He was supposed to send a picture with the completed work. I have followed up as I didn't receive a picture as promised. He has not responded to any texts or calls. **** my sister called both the office and his cell on Monday, June 20th and asked for a status. She told him that if we didn't hear back by yesterday, we would get our lawyer involved. He has not responded to her either. Additionally, I have tried to reach out to ***** ***** personally to see if he ever contacted her to get the location. She has not responded to me either. Since we are both out of state, we were wondering if you could get involved. The business name is Monumental Life there in Lake Charles. The number is XXX-XXX-XXXX. After the owner of Monumental Life was made aware of the complaint and the review that was written on Facebook, he contacted me via text. He wanted me to take down the review and stated the person from the city never contacted him back although he said he called her 4 times. The person from the city stated she never received a call from him. In addition, she stated she contacted both his business and personal phone and never received a response back. I will update the review that the work has been completed. The headstone was placed on 7/21/22.Initial Complaint

We paid in full for a headstone for my deceased mothers grave. We were told the headstone was to be ready and installed in April of this year. We have both called repeatedly and emailed him and he continues to refuse to get the headstone installed.
