I went to a local insurance agent to start a car insurance policy. I informed them I had called AAA and been quoted a monthly bill of $320 and was shopping around. They checked a couple different insurance companies for me to get the best deal. I was completely forthcoming about my driving history and had my vehicle title in hand so there was no question of how many miles were on my ************************************************************************* my state of *************. I was given a quote of $291 per month eventually and I thought this was a good deal being about 30 less per month than my previous quote from ***. When I finally received my policy in the mail there was a discrepancy of almost $400 on the amount of my policy and the monthly payment was changed to $323. I received my policy on a Saturday and was healing from having a major surgery days earlier so I didn't call the agent until Tuesday to try to discuss the issue. When I spoke to someone that called me back because nobody answered when I called during business hours they were rude and pretended like they had no idea what I was talking about and they then passed the phone to someone else that became very belligerent with me and yelled that I need to look up the word Compulsory several times, said I was only given an estimate and then said I was yelling and hung up on me while saying I should switch my agent.. I have reported their behavior and the issue to customer service with the actual ********************** company and they told me I could change my agent to another with my current policy and then told me to call multiple agents to make the switch. After following the directions I was told I would have to start a new policy and pay another down payment for my policy in order for a switch of my agent to be possible. Nobody is willing to honor the quote I was given when I started my policy. I believe this is an illegal Bait And Switch scam. I have the evidence to prove my policy discrepancy.Customer response

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. They don't appear to care about my continued business or following the law and honoring the quote I was given.
