On 12/9/2021, I went to D'TATI Dominican Hair Salon at 4029 Falls Road Baltimore Md 21211. Met Ms D'TATI. I removed my hat to show her my hair. I explained my hair was natural and had been that way for a few years. I told her I had no issues with my hair it was healthy (she agreed) I expressed I wanted a blow shampoo blow dry. She stated she could do that for me. We proceed to the shampoo bowl where I sat while she began shampooing my hair. After shampooing my hair we went to her styling chair with no communication between us. However she was able to communicate with the other 2 ladies in the salon. I was quiet until the heat became to hot, I said it was to hot and she sprayed a liquid on my hair. After finishing the blow drying(with a brush) she said you need a trim,I said ok. She trimmed my hair and started to flat iron without asking. I allowed her to proceed thinkingmy hair will be fine its just this once. I would not be back. When done my hair smelled of burning sent, and my scalp felt irritated but I thought it's just the spray she used and the sent will go away. It didn't go away it got worse each day. I continued to convince myself my hair was ok and it will go back to natural once I shampoo. I shampooed my hair 2weeks later because I could not bear the smell and the feel of my scalp any longer. Shampooed my hair with products I had been using for a while. As I rinsed the shampoo out hair started to fall out in the sink.I applied conditioner but it didn't help it continued to come out in my hands and in the sink.I dried my hair gently with a towel and contact the salon. They told me to come in. I did but the person that did my hair did not seem to want to talk with me so her daughter came to me and ask a few question she stated my hair was coming out yes and I needed to see a demonologist .Her mother offered to put another product but could not tell me what it would do for my hair.sister came in and began to raise her voice. I decided to leave. I paid$75

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/01/20) */ RE: Case #XXXXXXXX Dear Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland, This is in response to the complaint filed by Ms. ****** ******. I am a licensed cosmetologist and have styled hair for over 40 years, specifically with natural hair. Ms. ****** did receive services at my salon on December 9, 2021. I used shampoo, deep conditioner, and heat protectant spray to execute the straightened style that she desired. Ms. ****** was very pleased with the work and did not complain about the products used or the process during the service. She happily paid for the services and said she would be returning. Three weeks later, on December 31, 2021, Ms. ****** came back to the salon, asserting that she washed her hair, experienced shedding and demanded a full refund. Despite her rudeness and racists comments (specifically, "speak English in my country" and aggressive behavior (yelling and slamming the door), I remained calm and refunded her $75.00 in cash. In all my years of service in this industry, I have never had any client claim to have experienced damage to their hair, due to my work, especially three weeks after the fact. In either event, we wish Ms. ****** well and look forward to continuing to provide our clients with the best service possible. Sincerely, Ms. A.e. M. Owner, D'TATI Dominican Hair Salon Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/01/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) For every customer who complains 26 others remain silent. I am the one that want to be heard.I want someone to know D'TATI as she has stated applied a chemical treatment to my hair and scalp. This was done without my consent or knowledge. I specifically asked for shampoo and blow dry. Yes I paid for the service because I believed D'TATI had done a service. However this was not the service I requested. In addition D'TATI as stated she applied a deep treatment to my hair and scalp.I contacted D'TATI by phone immediately after shampooing my hair to let her know what was happening to my hair and scalp. She asked my to come in on that day. I went back as she requested with clumps of hair in my hand.D'TATI seemed dismissive of me and ask me to sit. I did. She was with a client I said I could wait because I wanted to know how or what we could do to repair my hair. D'TATI yelled to the front of the salon for someone to come.D'TATI introduced this person as her daughter. Her daughter began to exam the clumps of hair that had come from my head and instructed me to go to a dermatologist. After communicating with each other,D'TATI sent daughter to get another product to offer me to apply to my hair. Not know why this product was and how it would help I refused. D'TATI introduced client as her sister to communicate with me. This person began to make me feel unsafe and I decided to leave. D'TATI was provided with pictures of my scalp where she could see and agreed my scalp was inflamed.D'TATI was also provided with the clumps of hair which now have in a plastic bag. It is not January 21,2022,I continue to lose hair in clumps.Every week I shampoo I continue to smell the chemical that destroyed my beautiful natural hair.D'TATI agreed to refund me $75.00 after she was shown pictures of my scalp being n flamed from (Silicon deep intensive treatment)product she admits to applying to my hair without my knowledge or consent. There should be some compensation for the permanent irreversible damage done to my hair/scalp and my personal appearance done by D'TATI whom presented herself as the owner of this salon business.
