I am a MHIC Contractor and was looking for an estimate program. I saw one online and started to use a hard copy book from Hometech- Costestimator. When I went to renew my estimating book I received several calls from a sales woman about the online program. I was given several days as a free trail. After the trial I was contacted again from the sales woman about signing up for a one year subscription. I liked the hardcopy estimate books and said that I would continue with that. After talking to the saleswoman I agreed to a one year subscription(7/2022). She said if you do not like the program you do not have to renew the program at the end of the year and can stop using it and go back to the hardcopy. She said that she would reach out to me when that time comes. After I got my subscription I used the program and realized how cumbersome and time consuming the program was and stopped using the program. I sent customer service several emails stating that I needed assistant with the program and was having problems navigating it. After getting one response days later from several customer service requests I realized that the program was not being supported as was promised. I stopped using the program and sent this information to the technology support numbers/email. I told them I would not continue using the program only after 3 months. I understand that I paid for a year subscription and that the $540 was a learning experience. What I am complaining about is that I automatically was billed for the second year subscription ($540 7/2023). I sent several emails and called over a dozen times to get the charge refunded. I still have not heard back from anyone(8 months). I even went to my credit card company and they said that hometech sent them an automatic renewal agreement (deceptive) when I signed up for the one year. This was not what was explained to me when I signed up. I was told that I would have to renew each year. The program is also not supported as promised.Initial Complaint
