To : BBB From : ******************** ********************High School Student & Student Pilot **** ******** ***, Arlington VA ***** ***************@*****.com +1 *** *** **** ****** ***- ******* Complain about Misconduct of Aircraft Mechanic Dear Sir, Re: Complain about Mechanics misconduct and seek assistance Complaining about Mechanics : 1. Guardian Aero Services LLC FAA Certificate Number: ******* ****** **** ******* **, Hangar * , Gaithersburg Maryland, ***** 2. ***** Aviation Inc *** Repair Station : ******** **** ***** ******** ***** , Burlington, NC ***** I hope this mail finds you well. I write to you today with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for your assistance in rectifying a series of devastating events that have shattered my lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. I am reaching out to you not only for personal resolution but also to shed light on the unscrupulous practices that have severely impacted my journey and could potentially jeopardize the dreams of countless others. My harrowing experience centers around two aviation companies, Guardian Aero Services LLC (Maryland ) and ***** ******** Inc (North Carolina ) , whose actions have not only failed to fulfill their promises but have caused irreparable damage to my aspirations. The culmination of their disregard for professional ethics and the dream I held so dearly has left me emotionally devastated and financially drained. When I initially approached Guardian Aero Services on June 6th, 2022, I believed I had found a reliable partner who would help me navigate the intricacies of aircraft ownership and support me in achieving my dream. I entrusted them with my hard-earned savings, which I diligently saved from working long hours after school at ***. With great hope and excitement, I purchased a ****** ***, placing my dreams in their hands. Tragically, my trust was misplaced, when I did 100 hours inspection at Guardian Aero Services LLC , due to rock hit my properly during training at KGAI, Guardian Aero Services informed me that the propeller was unairworthy and shipped it to ***** ******** in North Carolina for repairs on June 9th 2022. They assured me that the process would take 4-8 weeks, and I eagerly anticipated getting back in the sky to pursue my pilot ratings. Despite being assured that the engine overhaul would cost a maximum of $4,000 to $5,000, I was presented with an exorbitant invoice of $18,000 upon completion of the job from ***** ******** Inc by ****** ****** who is the president of the company, and who have lied to me in multiple occasions. However, the nightmare had only just begun. ***** ******** Inc and Guardian Aero Services LLC, after collecting more then $30,000 (Thirty) thousand from insurance, shocked me with an invoice for the engine overhaul that far exceeded the initial estimate , and additionally we had to pay more then $18,000 (Eighteen ) Thousand Dollars out of pocket. The president of the company, ****** ******, even resorted to threats, indicating that if I did not pay the exorbitant amount, he would sell my engine, effectively crushing my dreams. The financial burden was devastating, but the emotional toll was even more severe. I worked tirelessly at ***, putting in long hours after school, and sought help from my relatives to gather the necessary funds to reclaim my engine. It was a race against time, as I knew that every passing day meant further delay in realizing my dream. Eventually, I managed to secure the money and retrieve my engine. Hope flickered within me as I believed that the worst was behind me, only to have it cruelly extinguished by Guardian Aero Services LLC. ***** ******** Inc eventually shipped the overhauled engine to Guardian Aero Service LLC, who installed the Engine incorrectly and due to that fact the engine failed and became unairworthy. Right after installation within 2-3 hours of flight, the Oil was leaking and I was losing 1-2 qrts of oil per 2 hours flight, and the Vacuum Pump was damaged due to faulty installation. Despite three attempts to fix the oil leak and address other issues arising from their improper installation, they not only failed to rectify the problems but also callously voided my warranty. The oil was leaking right after engine overhauled , and when we address the issue to Guardian Aero Services, she told us it is residual, however after 2 hours of flight we lost almost 2 qrts of oil and she told us to bring it back and she would fix it, we brought it back after 2 weeks she told us it was fixed, and then we flew another 2 hours, which was stealing leaking more than 2 qrts of oil this time, she said she will fix it again and it is not dangerous to keep fly by adding oil. 1. After the 3rd attempt to fix Oil leak by Guardian Aero Services LLC , They voided the warranty and told me that I should have flown after 48 hours after trying to fix the engine but I flew after 46 hours. Lena Gaffney is the Owner of Guardian Aero Services LLC and she was working on my airplane, Who apparently was tracking me all the time. The moment I flew in 46 hours she told me the warranty is void which means she was looking for my mistake to ensure she would find a fault. Otherwise, she has my phone and email, why could she not call me and tell me. When I approached **** ****** to explain to her the situation before voiding my warranty, she was very argumentative with me and she even engaged into personal and told me that if I become a pilot, I will blow up something indicating my ****** name and profiling me, which made me very upset. 2. My heart sank deeper when I discovered that Guardian Aero Services had broken the vacuum pump pulley during the engine reinstallation, resulting in the loss of avionics during my first solo flight in the traffic pattern on December 13th 2023. I beseeched them to fix the vacuum pump, only to be met with further hostility and blackmail. They demanded that I provide the replacement pulley myself, upon which I provided them and I had no idea she had an intention of framing me, and moreover she threatened to report me to the FAA , because I left a public review about their conduct online. This unwarranted behavior, compounded by the destruction of my avionics and the manipulation of my passion, crushed my spirit. 3. Guardian Aero Services LLC is the company who installed the whole engine and its components and we have never done anything, but she was the one who received payment from Insurance company and we paid additional fees out of pocket, including she was the one who installed the Pulley which is attached to Crankshaft and that rotates vacuum pump, however she reported to FAA that we have installed that pulley, and this is absurd, because she was the one who installed the whole engine, the propeller and every other parts, because that pulley is behind the Propeller , and during the installation of this pulley she installed it with fault and it was lose (report is attached), and that in turn made the Crankshaft unairworthy, that I am not paying out of pocket to ***** ******** INC who deemed it unairworthy and trying to fix it now. In addition to it, when another mechanic reviewed the aircraft logbooks, he discovered that Gaudian Aero Services LLC did not write in the Logbooks that she is the one who installed the Vacuum Pump and Vacuum Pump Pulley and the Pulley which goes behind the propeller, by doing so Guardian Aero Services LLC have violated FAR Rules and Regulations as she did not stated the work she has done to Pulley of Vacuum pump and the Vacuum pump itself. 4. On January 16, 2023 we brought back the airplane ***** ******** Inc, as we thought they could repair under warranty, however when they did inspection, they charged us a lot of money, and they charged for all the discrepancies that Guardian Aero Services LLC have made and we paid for those discrepancies, those discrepancies are clearly stated in the invoice and report attached to this document, a) Guardian Aero Services LLC have installed “Tailpipe on Exhaust Backwards”, which in turn lead for Cessna 172F to fly with reduced power, and with possibility of losing engine in the Air, b) They have installed Incorrect intake duct on carb heat, which was damaged and collapsed after 2-3 hours of flight time, c) They have damaged the Taxi lights and Landing lights , d) NLG STRUT that they have told us they have serviced and charged us money for this, however they have not performed proper work on it, e) They have installed Pulley (behind the Propeller) loosely so that it was creating lot of heat on the crankshaft and according to ***** ******** Inc Mechanic , was dangerous and could have very severe pubic safety concerns. 5. Upon discussion with ***** ******** Inc, they told us they would first need to inspect the Crankshaft and determine if this Crankshaft could be repaired, and it was our agreement that upon inspection they would let us know if the Crankshaft was airworthy or nothing was wrong with the Crankshaft, however ***** ******** Inc, did not inform us any such inspection and they told us there will be no report nothing, and ** ****** ******* told me, that when the plane is ready whenever it is ready, he will write on the Engine Logbooks with regards to Crankshaft, which makes me to believe that *** ****** ******* is not trustworthy mechanic, who acted based on deception and defrauded me, because he grounded the airplane, that he knew I could not take it to any other mechanic and he conducted his job, and now he is trying to destroy all the evidence, because then he would be liable to unnecessary grounding of airplane and the cost involved with it. Initially, ** ****** ******* and *** ***** ******* told me that the crankshaft Damage repair and re-installation of airplane would be between 4-8 weeks, however now it has been 6-Months, that I do not have any updates regarding the Airplane or its conditions. A) When I have been contacting ********* ******* for the past 2-3 months he tell me different story, and when I call *** ***** ******* he tells me different story, according to ** ****** ******* the Airplane was damaged and apparently he will send very huge bill for me, I do not know why *** ****** ******* is that greedy , however it is apparent that he is a Scammer and Fraudulent individual, who gives different estimates and at the end who charges 5-6 times more than what he needs to pay. B) When I called *** ****** *******, the only thing 3 month ago he told me He does not know when my plane will be ready C) when I have contacted him through Email requesting an update about my airplane, he told me in multiple occasions “QUIT EMAILING ME” , D) When I call his office, he never picks up the call , E) When I call *** ***** ******* and request and update about my airplane , he told me that he (Grant) received and instruction from his boss , Who is *** ****** ******* not to talk to me and not to give me any information, I am suspecting because Mr. Othman have been in various lawsuits for the past several years, he is afraid that it could go against him in a court of law, and he assumes I am going to sue him, for which I don’t even have money for legal fees. 6. *** ****** ******* and his company is now not communicating with me, and I am pretty sure he is covering all the evidence and changing reports, which would suit him in leu of legal action against his company, also Mr. a) Othman Rasheed misrepresenting the facts about the aircraft parts and conditions which in violation of FAA regulations, b ) *** ****** ******* denying access to my airplane and by doing so he is violating my property rights, c) Mr. Othman is not providing me any information with regards to any condition of my Property, which is turn is clear violation of Consumer rights, *** ****** ******* did not honor the Warranty he has given, as he always tries to find a fault and discrepancy in order not to honor the Warranty he has given, which is another FAR violation, and that in fact, can be just learn by ******, where ** ****** ******* has been sued multiple time in the past few year for Breach of Contract, and causing public danger with faulty repairs as well. At this juncture, I found myself emotionally shattered, mentally exhausted, and devoid of hope. These corporations and affluent individuals have not only sabotaged my dream but have also caused immeasurable emotional distress and inflicted significant financial burden upon me. Their actions epitomize a system that favors profit over passion and disregards the dreams of individuals like myself. I stand before you today, not only as an individual seeking assistance but as a beacon of hope for those who share the dream of becoming pilots. My spirit may be wounded, but my resolve to fight against such callous disregard remains steadfast. I implore you, BBB to recognize the gravity of this situation and take decisive action to prevent others from enduring similar heartbreak. Although I am unable to afford legal representation, I am prepared to provide any documentation necessary to support an investigation into the practices of Guardian Aero Services LLC and ***** ******** Inc. This includes invoices, reports, and correspondence, which serve as a testament to the injustices inflicted upon me. At this point it’s not about the money or the airplane anymore, it’s about my dreams. These corporations and rich people killed my dream which I tried my best to keep it alive for a long time patiently. ***** ******** Inc and ****** ****** promised us that this inspection would take 4-8 weeks but we waited for 5 months. Now the Engine is ready to be installed back to the airplane and I try to call them everyday and ****** ****** told me QUIT emailing him and don’t call him and he does not want to talk to me. This is a very upset situation and the worst customer service I have ever received. He is not even telling me where he sent the camshaft for inspection and refusing to give me a report so I know what I will be paying for hopefully after making the funds available. I do not want any pilot to experience what I have experienced and I would like to protect the dreams of those who have a dream of becoming a pilot in the future. I beseech you,BBB, to lend your expertise, guidance, and support in navigating the treacherous waters I find myself in. Your intervention, whether through connecting me with resources, providing advice, or raising awareness within the aviation community, can make a profound difference not only in salvaging my dream but also in safeguarding the aspirations of future aviators. Please understand that my intention is not simply to seek redress for my own circumstances but to shed light on the systemic issues that enable unscrupulous practices to persist. Together, we can forge a path towards a fairer, more transparent, and supportive aviation industry that nurtures the dreams of countless individuals. Thank you for your time, consideration, and unwavering dedication to upholding the best interests of pilots and aviation enthusiasts. I eagerly await your response and the opportunity to work collaboratively in addressing this pressing matter. As we have stated in the complaint earlier, Guardian Aviation Services, have charged us a lot of money, the invoice and work order they have attached is a partial acceptance and it also indicates they have engaged in unethical and unprofessional behaviour.
1. She has been paid a lot of money partially directly from us and also our insurance company as well, however in the case of Guardian Aero Services LLC, they are thinking the Insurance payment is God given money to them, no it is not, we authorized Insurance company to pay to her in full directly for Engine installation, Prop Installation and 100 hour annual inspection of ****** .
2. Upon installation, they have made several mechanical errors, which leads for the Crankshaft to be damages, for the prop to be damages and the Vacuum pump is damaged, so far we have paid to another mechanic out of pocket about $20,000 to fix the discrepancies caused as they caused an error.
3. Attached is some report, from another mechanic , which indicating they made several errors in installation , including , the Pulley attached to cranksahft was lose, which lead the crankshat to be damaged, and it damaged Vacuum pump as well.
4. When we asked them to fix it or provide us with their General Liability insurance for "Errors and Omissions", they have refused to do so, and they also refused to fix and eliminate the issue, instead they went on ******** and wrote review on our page saying that I am harrasing her and she will complain, how am I harasing, I am simply asking I paid you in full for the services you supposed to provide me, and if you did, why would I complain ?
As long as they reach out to us , pay for the discrepancies which was caused by them, or provide us their insurance details, so we can reach out to them to pay for discrepancies which was caused due to their faulty installation, we will sattle the case, otherwise we are going to court.
Thank you

On June 4, 2022, the aircraft in question - ****** - was brought into our shop for a pre-purchase inspection for a perspective buyer from California under the assumption that ******** *********** was truthful in his sales ad of a 100% airworthy aircraft. When the aircraft entered our shop, it was immediately noted that there was unrepairable damage on the propeller, indicating a propeller strike had occurred, which calls for an engine teardown inspection, along with other items that needed to be addressed (as seen in the invoice provided by ********). We advised the buyer and the owner, ********, of the findings. At that time, the pre-purchase inspection ended and we began working directly with ******** on repairing the aircraft through his insurance company, as well as repairing the unairworthy items while the aircraft since the aircraft would be sitting for at least 2 months while the engine teardown inspection occurred. This work was turned into a modified inspection. As we, and other shops on the airfield, have had issues of non-payment from this customer, we set an agreement for a $2,000.00 deposit. A check was provided by ********s uncle, ********** ********* and his company ** ************* *****. We attempted to deposit the check same day, which bounced on 06/10/2022 due to insufficient funds. We advised ********** and ******** of the issue and stated that we would need a bank verified payment or payment via credit card moving forward so we would not continue to incur bounced check fees. At the time of the notice, we were promised that ******** would come in and pay the deposit. He did not come in for nearly 3 weeks. At that time, he came in to pay $1,000.00 with *********** credit card. He promised that he would return to pay the difference at a later date. We took his word and continued to work on the airworthy issues on his aircraft. Months went by with reminder emails being sent and we did not hear from either of them. During this time, his engine teardown was happening at ***** ******** in Burlington, NC. When we received the repair report from ***** ********, the results were sent to both parties (******** and **********) with the estimate for teardown repair, which was covered in full by ****** ****, their insurance company. The teardown estimate (Invoice number 273881 attached above) totaled $15,295.00, which included engine transportation at $1,200.00, magneto replacement at $3,495.00, total parts at $2,800.00, and total labor at $7,800.00. At this time, ******** and ********** requested an estimate for engine overhaul. The estimate came to $29,800.00 (attached above). ******** and ********** agreed on this estimate for overhaul and ***** ******** began work for overhaul. The change from teardown to overhaul adds a few months to the originally estimated 2 months of work as the work scope is drastically different. With this in mind, the insurance company still pays $15,295.00, which left ******** and ********** with a balance due to ***** ******** of $14,505.00 at the time the estimate was approved. As this added time went by, we attempted to contact ******** and ********** about the remaining $1,000.00 deposit amount and payment for the work that had been completed. No response. When all parties were notified that the engine was completed, a final invoice was given for $33,785.00. At this point, ******** and ********** refused to pay the difference, claiming fraudulent work had been down to add the remaining cost. The additional work cost was approved by ******** and ********** via an email thread titled O-300-C condition report that named the data plate at $400.00 and excessive wear of camshaft lifters at $2,385.00. After going back and forth with both parties to explain the cost difference, they finally agreed to pay the difference to get their engine returned to us. We installed the engine and all components as necessary to return the aircraft to airworthy, including the vacuum pump in question, which was an aftermarket addition to the aircraft via an Airborne STC. We performed multiple run-ups to leak check, verify all components, and make sure all equipment is working appropriately. All components checked out and the aircraft was released. After 6 hours of flight, the engine developed a leak from its internal oil pump. This issue was a warranty item through ***** ********. To keep the customer from having to fly back to NC, we contact ***** ******** and received instructions to repair the issue. We attempted the fix 3 times. On the second attempt, ******** and ********** phoned our office and asked for our assistance at his aircraft. We obliged and headed to his parking spot. They began having issues with their aftermarket vacuum pump and had purchased a part from ******** to replace the broken part. This is both illegal and incredibly stupid as this component was going on an STC component and was certainly not *******. We told them we would not assist due to the legality. They proceeded to hammer, yes, actually hammer, the part onto the aircraft. This part was not the correct size which led to abnormal wear on the crankshaft on which it was mounted. On the 3rd attempt, we told ******** and ********** that the aircraft can not be flown for 48 hours in an effort to allow the sealant to cure. They did not wait the 48 hours before flying, which kept the sealant from curing and causing the engine to continue to leak. At that time, ******** and ********** claimed that we damaged his landing gear light as well. This is a physical improbability due to the location (opposite ends of the aircraft). No work was performed in the area of the lights, so we are not sure what issues he had come across. We advised that, since he did not wait the 48 hours to let the sealant cure, we would no longer be able to work on his aircraft due to the legal liability of the ******** part installed and their unwillingness to follow instructions. We advised that they would need to return to ***** ******** for the leak to be properly repaired. Upon their return to ***** ********, it was discovered that, due to the illegal modification with the ******** part, they had damaged their crankshaft so much that it is no longer airworthy, thus receiving a red airworthiness tag in the log book. They made multiple attempted to have the aircraft ferried to a different shop in hopes that it would be signed off illegally, no attempts were successful. They then attempted to go through multiple insurance companies, bouncing from company to company to attempt to have the part replaced through insurance. An insurance investigation was launched, in which they were found guilty of insurance fraud. The FAA has also been investigating ******** and ********** for airspace violations and failure to comply with instructions from ***. I have attached correspondence from their original insurance company, our repeated attempts to contact them for payment, their estimates and invoices from ***** ********, and images of the illegally installed component on the engine. We have talked to our lawyers about the repeated/ongoing harassment from both parties and the fake profiles they have created, the continued defamation, and the false claims of racism. By the time this has been submitted, our lawyer will have already contacted both parties.Business response

I have contacted and retained a lawyer to represent myself and my company in regards to the threatening emails that ******** has sent advising that he will be taking me to court. This includes the email that was received shortly after submitting my response to the false complaint/accusations that ******** submitted through the BBB. I have attached the email for review.Customer response

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]
Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:1. Previously BB informed us that the Guardian Aero Services LLC have informed you that they would like to resolve the dispute directly, and per the requests we have reached the company and they have never replied.
2. The company (Guardian Aero Service) in their Statement making several false accusations and irrelevant statements and being over defensive , which shows they are not honest in their conduct, in addition the question posed about the discrepancies they have made during engine installation which was paid for and instead of addressing the issue ,they are talking about irrelevant accusations, they acknowledge they installed the Engine and didn't fix and the oil was leaking, in previous email we have attached a report from third party mechanics showing that they did install Engine incorrectly, which caused discrepancies, and they have not addressed those issue.
3. instead of talking about discrepancies they did for the service they have been paid for, they are talking about other irrelevant issue A)They are talking about Californian customer, who legitimately conducted pre-buy inspection, the aircraft did not pass inspection and the sale was off, which is not relevant B) They are talking about my uncles company ** ******************** which has no relevance in this case, it shows they have personal grudge against us and talk all this irrelevant staff C) They accused me and my uncle being investigated by FAA for airspace violation, this case is irrelevant in our case and there is no any investigations that we know of, if there is any Investigation being conducted by FAA, FAA is obliged to inform us in timely manner in writing about such Investigations, failure to do so would violate FAR 14 regulations on behalf of FAA and it would also violate our constitutional rights. D) Guardian Aviation has wasted its time and opportunity to talk about issue we have addressed, instead talks about various irrelevant topics which has nothing to do with our case and those accusation that they are talking about even has no relevance, those are not true and false.
4. Overall in their response she is giving a picture and acknowledgment that we have paid for the services in full , even though she mentioned about moral aptitude towards me and my uncle and that some people have told them this and that, and reporting based on here say , but in a nutshell, they acknowledge that we paid in full, and that the service is not received.
5. She also acknowledge that she tried to fix the oil leak and it was leaking , when she says "We attempted the fix 3 times", and since she was paid in full for Engine Installation, she is obliged to fix it per our agreement, and the payment, it is not we are asking for help or assistance, we are not asking for help, we are asking to provide a service per our agreement and payment that we paid in full for the service.
In conclusion, we have previously provided a report that there was a discrepancies by this Mechanic caused and it was verified by another mechanics, we have explicitly requested our payments for the services to be refunded specifically concerning the services we paid , in this E-mail they acknowledge that we paid in full and also they acknowledge they attempted to fix (but failed), so they should have refunded the money. Instead , they are giving description of some Californian events, making false and personal accusations based on emotional encounter, and it shows that they are not handling the case professionally. We would like to request them to come forward and to accept the fault pertaining their services and act responsibly to refund our payments.
Regards,

The only contact the customer has made was to warn of legal action. There has been absolutely no attempt made by the customer to resolve the issue that did not involve threats against myself or my company.
The customer has continued to harass my company and myself on any platform that he believes he can be heard.
The customer did NOT pay for the engine removal, reinstallation, engine teardown inspection, or leak repairs out of pocket. This cost was covered by his insurance company at the time, Global Aero. As he has already been found guilty of insurance fraud via *********** Insurance Company investigators, I have no choice but to feel that this is another way for them to continue their fraudulent path to pocket money that they are not owed and recover lost time and cost that they spent of their own doing when choosing to perform an engine overhaul instead of an engine repair.
We have zero obligation to repair, for free I might add, an engine leak that was not caused by our installation. The oil leak in question was a fault of the engine repair company, in which we were trying to help to save the customer a flight to North Carolina. We did not charge the customer or the engine repair company for the leak repair work performed. We attempted repair at our own cost, not the customers.
The vacuum pump system was fully functional leaving our shop, and remained fully functional until the customer incorrectly and illegally installed an aftermarket component.
This information has been forwarded to my lawyer who will be handling all future contact from this point forward.

Also we would like to share some views that the Business individual is not honest person and a liar, it can be proven in her statements, 1) She claims that all the monies was paid by insurance company and not the customer, and also she claims that customer "wanted too pocket some money from insurance ", however we requested insurance company t pay her directly, while insurance company has taken written authorization from us that we "Agree" she should receive the money directly, so all the monies was paid to her, plus we had to pay additional fees out of pocket, there fore her claim is a lie, and additionally she is lying about being investigated for Airspace violation ete.. she is just saying whatever lie she can make up but not addressing the issue.Customer response

Hi we are not satisfied with the respondent addressing the issue.
1. She says she is willing to talk, we reached out to her, per previous email attachement, she does not respond.
2. She is making false allegations, she says FAA investigating me for Airspace violation , first of all, it is not true, second of all, even if it is , it has no relevance in our case.
3. She claimed that , I planned to pocket insurance money, that is another allegation and defamation, because all insurance payment made to her, and we have given written concent to insurance company to issue payments directly to her, and we pay the difference.
4. WIth regards last claim we mad to insurance company as well, she claimed we engaged in insurance fraud, which is another lie and has no relevance in our case, the insurance company by law not allowed to provide my information to third parties, if they did , there will be legal consequence.
5. If I says there is "legal consequences" she took is as a threat, it is not threat but it is civil means of resolving the dispute between the civilians, and therefore there is civilian courts exist.
6. She engaged her attorney to talk on her behalf , also engaged in false accusations which will be addressed in timely manner.
We would like our issue to be addressed.
Thank you
