On 5/18/2022 I saw a health provider who ordered 4-6 weeks in a walking cast. They showed me a chart that stated, with my insurance, it would be about $100. They didn't state it would charged for another company, which was out-of-network for me. I received a bill from Orthocare Soluntions Inc for $230.62 for the boot. They filed a claim with my insurance for $331.45 but my insurance would only allow the lower amount. I looked at other medical equipment providers and could not find this exact boot for more than $80. My insurance said to call Orthocare Solutions and ask that you return it and Ortho resubmit the claim and returned or zero charge. I called and left a message with billing about my issue. No one called me back. I called again and left another message. Someone called back but I was in a meeting. They did not leave a message. I then got another bill, same amount, saying bill overdue. I called and was able to talk to someone. They said because of covid they do not accept returns and the code is for the max amount. I said I'd like it resubmitted at a lower cost. She said they couldn't do that because my insurance already filed the claim so it wouldn't matter. I explained it was the idea of the insurance. She said it's the code, there's nothing they can do. I asked to talk to someone about the codes. She said there is no one to talk to about it so she can set up a payment plan. I said that someone could call me about the codes or send it to collections. She said ok, she would send it to collections.
