I’m submitting this complaint to Metropolitan Exterior Inc. for not sending Referral Fee as promised verbally and in writing. The Company sent me documentations once the work was done on September 2021. Some documents are related to the warranty but there is one letter that encourages me to refer to someone for a $250 reward. I checked with the project manager, Mr. Will S******, verbally about the validity of this reward program and he confirmed and validated the legitimacy of the offer. I referred a good friend of mine to have this company installed their roof. The service was completed end of October 2021. But I haven't gotten referral fee until now after four months later! I spoke to the manager again over the phone, emails and texts. He said the check had been issued but he is not willing to help investigating further. He said to me “my work is done!”. I wrote a letter and addressed it to the Owner of Metropolitan Exterior, Mr. Jeff T***** on December 27 2021 to let him know I have not received any check. But my letter was ignored. Again, I emailed the office approximately a week later requesting explanation to the check that supposedly sent to me. It was also ignored. I’m talking about a Company’s letter promising their customer a reward program in writing in the Company letter head, hand signed by the Proud owner, Jeff T***** but he doesn’t even has the courtesy to respond. Is it legal to lie to a customer in writing? This company owe me $250 for a referral fee.Business response

So we did return his phone call & left a message .*** **** had the salesman Willies direct phone number as well and would talk to him. Upon that phone call a check was mailed. I am sorry it was not in a timely fashion as *** **** would have liked but nowhere on our reward program is there a set time frame to mail out. But the fact remains it has been mailed Therefore we fulfilled our obligation. To hear that *** **** filed a complaint here as well as the BBB was a lodge on us as it is not based on our workmanship, warranty and or pricing. We apologize to *** **** for any inconvenience of not receiving his referral reward in what he considers to be a timely fashion... We will re issue another payment

We have sent ** **** ******** a referral check on two separate occasions... Check # ***** & Check # ***** . I do not understand why neither have been received on his end as I have mailed other checks to various vendors that have been received and cashed.
Since the beginning of this dispute, and multiple times of correspondence it has been explained at length as to why *** **** ******** did not receive his referral check as quickly has he would have liked ( please see prior correspondence ) But in short, referrals are only paid once said referred party has completed their job and paid their invoice in full.... AFTER that happened with the referred party the first check was mailed..... It was brought to our attention that it was never received so we placed a stop payment on it and released a SECOND check to him..... To now, via this complaint I see that it was never received.... We find these things out thru the BBB , not emails to our office or via phone.... Only via these complaints..... So I have put ANOTHER stop payment on check #2 .... Each time I do this it costs us $35 each time... In addition to each time I have to respond to these complaints.
My solution to this problem is, Since there is a apparent mail issue on *** **** ******** side, I will cut a THIRD check & have it here at our office for pick up. In the event we are not in the office at the time of his arrival I will tape it to the front door in a envelope.... That seems to be the only way it will be guaranteed to be received as I cannot continue to issue stop payments on these checks, we are already $70 into them on a referral fee.
Check will be cut today and at our office at 10850 McConnell Place - White Plains MD
Hopefully this will rectify this situation once and for all, it is a shame that a referral program that we offer to our customers has turned into such a time consuming debacle.Customer response

This respond is in reference to complaint ID ******** and related to the last message I received through BBB dated 4/16/2022:
I've been living in my house located at ******* ****, Clarksville MD ***** for over twenty years and has never once I had issue with my mail or other deliveries.
First of all, Metropolitan Exterior to this date has never sent us any proof that they have mailed or sent their checks as they claimed.
Second of all, as we are still in the middle of a dispute, any normal and capable professional would have used certified mail with delivery signature when sending their check.
Lastly, Had Metropolitan Exteriors personal who is handling this dispute has no issue reading in English he/she should have known that on every letter/email/BBB message I sent previously clearly indicate where the check should be sent.
Attached is a conversation I had with my tenant who live in **** ******** ***** **** as of today, April 16 2022. He testified that he has not seen any envelope with my name sent to his address.
In addition, I have been checking my mailbox since last year and none of the mail is coming from Metropolitan Exterior. So no check is sent to ******** ***** ****, No check arrived at ******* **** and no proof that the check is sent. The conclusion: NO CHECK IS EVER SENT or The check was sent to a different address!
Had I been the person representing Metropolitan Exterior who is handling this matter I would have first checked what had I done before getting angry at someone else or blaming others.
This is a very simple matter. Mailing a check to ONE AMERICAN ADDRESS that's been mentioned numerous times in the letter, emails and BBB messages does not need a rocket scientist to do it. This shows what type of employees are running Metropolitan Exterior. They are not capable of handling such a simple task and dare enough to order the client to pick up the check???? Don't they even understand the very basic of doing a business? They obviously do not have a clue what customer satisfaction is and how important maintaining a customers!
