On October 13th, 2021, I brought my 18 year old cat to Belfast Vet Hospital, to have *************************** put her to sleep. She was blind, deaf, and suffering. I called first, and was told I needed to make an appointment. So, my poor cat had to suffer for 2 more days, which is cruel. I was also quoted a price on the phone of $150.00, but when I brought her in, they told me it would be $155, and if I wanted a private cremation, it would be over $300, which I didn't have. I expected after mt cat passed, she would be held for a mass cremation. Instead, *************************** coldly, told her Vet tech to put her in a box, and send me on my way. I was distraught over the loss of my cat, and was left to find a wat to "dispose" of her body. I've never heard of a Vet doing such a thing to a pet parent. It was cruel and heartless! I want her and the hospital investigated, to see if in fact they have a freezer to keep pet remains in for mass cremation. I, myself, have worked as a Vet tech, and have never seen someone have to leave an animal hospital with their dead animal! This was such a cruel act, I want something, anything done, so no other pet parent has to go through the emotional pain I did. Thank you, and I'll be waiting for a response. ************************* ************** ***********************

****************** had services performed at our hospital last year which she was appropriately charged for. We do not allow billing, a fact she was made aware of prior to the appointment. She was provided with options for cremation through our facility and an estimate for those services. It is the owner's responsibility to take care of their pet's remains after euthanasia, and she did not wish to pay for cremation at our facility.

      FAQ

      Regards,

      *****

I am shocked that a business would respond to the BBB with an absolute lie! I was only offered 2 options, either spend over $300 to have my cat privately cremated, or take her dead body to dispose of it myself. I paid $155 to have her put to sleep, this should have included a mass cremation, which I was told by ****************, was NOT an option! I am outraged about this entire situation, and want to be re-enbursed the money I spent. I also NEVER want another pet parent to ever have to go through the kind of trauma this caused! Thank you, ************************* **************
