I had an issue with my health insurance providers, Community Health Options, where I was incorrectly charged for a month without a subsidy. While that issue was being resolved and with full knowledge it was being resolved, Community Health Options refused to cover my medication costs, potentially causing me to be hospitalized, until I paid them more than $1,000, which I did. Approximately a day or two later, the issue was resolved, and I requested a refund. Over the past approximate two weeks Community Health Options representatives have told me the matter was expedited. Yesterday a representative told me she saw no indications of the matter being expedited and that it could take up to 60 days, which is ridiculous. Therefore, I am reaching out to you to advise you of Community Health Options actions and to find out if you could assist me with this matter so that I can get my refund and pay my overdue bills. It is absurd that they take advantage of people, demand money immediately, and then take so long to refund it.Business response

We have been in communication with this Member regarding their concerns and believe the matter is resolved. When an individual enrolls through the State Based Marketplace, Community Health Options enrolls and disenrolls individuals as instructed by CoverME.gov. The State Based Marketplace entity also provides Community Health Options with information about whether an individual is eligible for Advance Premium Tax Credits.Community Health Options is dependent upon the State Based Marketplace for enrollment data and determinations of whether an individual is eligible for Advanced Premium Tax Credits. Our records are updated to reflect any changes provided by CoverME.gov. Changes in eligibility sometimes result in a refund due to Members. We appreciate the patience displayed by our Members while we conduct this work.
