Add me to the list of "the same thing". They did not have ** sign the contract, it was through an "Agent", in our case it was a company called ****** Destinations who caught us as we first got to the Virgin Islands, offered us drinks (we later found out alcohol was cheaper than soda or juice, partially explaining why they kept offering STRONG refills). They then provided a presentation requiring, if memory serves, a $40,000 fee. As we we got up to leave we were approached by a "manager" who asked us to talk for a few minutes before we left. Foolishly, we complied and were compelled to listen to a story about reselling abandoned contracts for about $2500. It was convincing and he sold us a membership who's contract was with "Island Trader Vacations, by ****** Services". We are now being harassed by yet another company "****** Center" out of ********** **. It seems these companies do nothing but collect contracts and attempt to collect annual fees by any means possible since they do not provide the services as presented by the agents. We were also provided a "bonus" of free airfare for our trip to *********. Since the trip was not being booked with the agent, this was not to be honored either. We tossed our original about paperwork about 7 years later since we didn't use any services or had heard from them. We started getting calls and letters some 3 years after tossing the papers. Now they are threating to report a ****-c to the *** as others have said. Had they contacted us within the first 5 years I might have given a relationship a second thought but now just wish to be left alone.Island Trader Vacations Response

Member(s) paid their dues after the purchase. Member(s) also have a recission time of 3-5 days to cancel membership through the sales office after the purchase date, member(s) did not complete that. Member(s) also signed and agreed that there was duress or influence was used by their representative or any other person to affect the purchase of membership. We are not harassing member(s) we are simply collecting on a debt owing to the company. Member has received yearly ********, re-********, calls, emails along with weekly newsletters with current specials and offers. We have made multiple attempts to contact the member to help them either bring their account up to date to utilize the services they purchased, bring it up to date to sell/transfer as their contract states, along as the account is current and we approve the transfer or to close the account through a Mutual Release. These members simply need to contact our office to either pay their fees up to current to use the benefits or to sell/transfer their membership themselves just as their contract states with our approval of that sell/transfer or the other option is to contact our office to reach a fair settlement agreement to properly close/cancel through a Mutual Release document which breaks the current agreement then having no further cost or obligations.Review from Kristin J

We signed up for Island Trader Vacation, used it once, and learned they were slow in responding to vacation requests and did not provide the discount indicated in the presentations. We traveled for sports so often needed a quick response time and they were very slow. The stay they found for us had no discounts that we couldn't find ourselves with a simple phone call. So, we canceled Island Trader Vacations back in 2015. In 2023, 8 years later, they have started to send us harassing letters demanding a huge payment. Even if we hadn't canceled, which we did, it is well beyond the statute of limitations. They are also calling us several times a month which is harassment which violates the Deceptive Trade and Practices Act. Now they have threatened to send information to the *** over a fabricated debt. They are also saying I can cancel for $698.00. It's already been canceled! I spoke to the Better Business Bureau and they informed me the letters I was receiving were a scam. They said the return address on our letter doesn't match the address on file for the company. The phone number provided on the letter also doesn't match the phone on file for the company. They said I didn't even need to file a complaint because they can't receive complaints on scammers. I will be contacting the ************************* next.Island Trader Vacations Response

Member(s) purchased in 2013 and paid their dues for several years after purchase. All travel requests placed by member was sent in a timely manner after the request was placed. Upon review there was no response from the member(s) after the request quotes was emailed over to them. It is up to member(s) to contact the travel agent back regarding any concerns. We are simply collecting on a debt owing to the company. We have done more than enough in trying to help member(s) resolve their debt. We have spoke with member and offered a fair settlement agreement. Member(s) simply need to contact our office to complete a Mutual Release to close their contract or bring it up to date to sell/transfer themselves as long as we approve the transfer.Review from Kenny A

My wife and I are elderly and are trying to get out of this travel club membership. I am told that it is our obligation to find a willing buyer for their product by advertising and soliciting for the membership. We paid $3500 some years ago to join Island Trader Vacations and now they tell me that we cannot stop paying them. What a scam for the elderly.I have spoken to two representatives that said they were located in ********** **. Since I could not find the Company in ******** is likely why there is only one complaint against them. There is a lot of scum on them on the internet.Island Trader Vacations Response

Member(s) have contacted our office and we have done more than enough to help member(s) resolve account, member(s) also agreed to complete the Mutual Release for the closure per phone call on 07/18/2023. Member(s) were explained their options to either sell/transfer as they agreed per their contract or to close through a Mutual Release. Member(s) simply need to contact our office to complete the Mutual Release if they would like the account closed. Member(s) also have our PO Box address in Litchfield from the billing statements they have received, member(s) have also continued to pay their annual fees as they agreed since 2013. Member(s) simply need to contact our office to either sell/transfer or close through the Mutual Release they agreed to complete.Review from D. H.

We joined Island Trader Vacations, ******************************************************************************** 48XXX on May 21, 2012. The sales person, ****************** of *******************, told us that our payment of $4,495 entitled ** to a lifetime membership in the program. In the contract, which I have, it states that there is a yearly fee of $199. "I/We agree to pay our annual membership dues of $199 per year. For all accounts not on automatic draft there will be a $50 annual billing fee required. If I do not pay my annual membership dues in a given year, all my travel services will be suspended ntil my dues are brought to a current status. Any dues paid are non-refundable. Dues may only increase 5% or the cost of living increase for the preceding years, whichever is greater."We never used the service and never paid the yearly fee. According to their contract, the program is terminated at that point. We are provided no benefit; and we owe nothing. However, they insist that we owe $199 per year for LIFE. They have harrassed and threatened us for ****************************************** **********, **. The latest missive is from their latest incarnation, ********** Services of *******, *************************** ********** ** 62XXX. 8XX-7XX-7XXX." Previous incarnations were ******************************* **** as well as Island Trader Vacations by ****** Services. This is a very simple matter. We ask that Island Trader - or their current incarnation - cease and desist with the threats of collection, and remove our names from their rolls.Island Trader Vacations Response

There has been no response on the members part to resolve the account. We are here to help the member in resolving the account. These members are no different than other members who have failed to pay as agreed and had previously never requested to cancel. These members simply need to contact our office to either pay their fees up to current to use the benefits or to sell/transfer their membership themselves just as their contract states with our approval of that sell/transfer or the other option is to contact our office to reach a fair settlement agreement to properly close/cancel through a Mutual Release document which breaks the current agreement then having no further cost or obligations.Customer Response

All utterly irrelevant. As our contract states: "I/We agree to pay our annual membership dues of $199 per year. For all accounts not on automatic draft there will be a $50 annual billing fee required. If I do not pay my annual membership dues in a given year, all my travel services will be suspended ntil my dues are brought to a current status. Any dues paid are non-refundable. Dues may only increase 5% or the cost of living increase for the preceding years, whichever is greater." Once we did not pay the annual billing fee, all travel services were suspended, according to the agreement. No services = No need for payment. Easy. Remove my name from any future contact.Island Trader Vacations Response

Member(s) purchased their membership out of the *****************, per members contract if the annual fees are not paid their services are suspended, not their dues nor their contract, their contract continues to state the dues will accrue with a 5% increase or the cost of living, whichever is greater. As member even stated above. Simply not paying does not do anything to the account other than members not being able to utilize the services. Member(s) are still responsible for their annual dues as they signed and agreed. Once again, These members simply need to contact our office to either pay their fees up to current to use the benefits or to sell/transfer their membership themselves just as their contract states with our approval of that sell/transfer or the other option is to contact our office to reach a fair settlement agreement to properly close/cancel through a Mutual Release document which breaks the current agreement then having no further cost or obligations.Customer Response

False. We purchased the contract, in my hand, from **************** at Magen's Point Resort, St. ******, ** on May 21, 2012. "I/We agree to pay our annual membership dues of $199 per year. For all accounts not on automatic draft there will be a $50 annual billing fee required. If I do not pay my annual membership dues in a given year, all my travel services will be suspended until my dues are brought to a current status. Any dues paid are non-refundable. Dues may only increase 5% or the cost of living increase for the preceding years, whichever is greater."If no services are being provided, no debt is accrued. You suspended the account after the first year, as clearly stated in your contract. Ergo, we owe nothing. Please remove our name from your rolls.Review from Carolyn A

This sounds like it's class action lawsuit time. My story is basically the same as the others listed below. When we signed up many years ago we were told that we could stop/cancel at any time. We paid quite a bit of money into this but, never once used their service. I have received email and, letters in the mail. Just recently we received a letter from ********* Services of *******. Incidentally, I don't believe the addresses or phone numbers listed for *** are legitimate. In a letter received may May 16, 2023, FSA they threatened to report ** to the **** They stated "Per IRS publication **** we may be required to report to the ************************ on any debt forgiven in excess of $600 as income to you. In general, you must report any taxable amount of a canceled debt as ordinary income from the cancellation of debt on Form 1040-SR, **** Individual Tax Return." If I'm correct the original Island Trader company was sold to new owners some years back.Island Trader Vacations Response

Member(s) once again need to review contract paperwork as it does not state that virbage, member has received the statement as they even stated above. Simply not acknowledging the debt does not make it go away. We have done our part in trying to contact member(s) to help them in resolving account. ********************** is a product, a type of package member(s) purchased, their contract is between them and us ********************** as their contract paperwork states. Member(s) simply need to contact our office to workout a fair settlement agreement to either bring the account up to date to sell/transfer as contract states, or close through a Mutual Release.Review from stu s

My wife and I foolishly signed up for Island Trader Vacations back in January of 2014. Shortly after discovering all the empty promises, I sent a certified return receipt mailing canceling the contract and services. I further filed claims with the **************** *********************** and BBB that same year. Island Trader Vacations blocked me from their social sites like FB and several years have gone by until I just recently received a debt collection notice on June 4th of this year. The debt letter is dated May 16th and obviously sat on there desk since the postage date on the envelope is weeks later, but I have 14 days to respond! Island Trader Vacations has made a habit in trying to scare patrons out of supposed forgotten services. This is a fraudulent company and they have been scamming people for many years.I am currently in contact with attorneys in ** and we are discussing a potential class action lawsuit toward Island Trader Vacations and its affiliates.Review from Wanda M

They want back dues and won't let us out even though we don't use their club. It was a sales scam and we paid over 3K, no services were used as their prices didn't save ** money on travel.Island Trader Vacations Response

We have had the same problems as others. Bought the membership in 2013 and never was able to use. I let my account go into an inactive status, like I was told we could do since I was never going to use it. Now I receive a notice that they have sent us to collections with *****************************. They are threatening us with reporting the debt as income to the *** if we do not settle with them. The notice doesnt even an amount of this open, unpaid and accruing debt that they say I owe.Review from Glenn W

Look up Island Trader Vacations ************************ find a website created in 2014 which boast a A+ BBB rating. Today on this page is a "F" rating. I alike so many others was not pleased with this "Service Agreement." bought in 2014, not finding a good deal for 2 years and cancelled both verbal/writing but ITVBTS conveniently does not have this information. Haven't heard from ITVBTS until year 2022 with numerous calls/mailings & today I talked to ********. I was verbally abused as witnessed by ************* -Supervisor who heard every word. This is some of the info I presented: 1-In ******** Service Contract Act 215 ILCS *********** service contract may be issued, sold or offered for sale in this state unless the service contract clearly states that the service contract holder is allowed to cancel the service contract." This is not in the **************** is no cancellation fee either. 2-A "service" is renewable per the terms every year and when someone (we already canceled) doesn't pay, the contract is voidable. 3-Most recently, ITVBTS sent a statement either pay the $598.00 service fee or pay a mutual release for $598.00 Today when talking to ********/*** I asked them why are you are overbilling me? Yearly fees could increase 5% or cost of living which ever is higher and starting in the year 2014 my dues were $199 plus $50 credit card fee. Doesn't add up & *** said wait so I can talk to the ************ *******************. Then ******** is on saying I can pay over $1300 to be released-MORE! than $598. I wonder if ******** is the one who responds to all these reviews? 4-#** of agreement says if a dispute arises then it will be arbitrated. I don't have a dispute, I know we canceled & don't understand why ITVBTS files for arbitration? I'm ready to go. 5-#** of agreement says that both my wife and I had to ****** ********* for certification. I did not initial therefore not valid and expect refund since I didn't get any use from there service. Not very professional
