After a $12,000 repair estimate plus fees associated with the breakdown, John & Son's offered $2,000 to cover "some cost". They reminded me it was bought As Is then recommended a muffler shop/salvage yard for the engine swap. 01/21/2022 test drove then bought 2010 ****** *****. 01/23/2022 drove purchased vehicle from lot, 130 miles into first drive as owner the engine fails. call tow truck rent hotel. 01/24/2022 rent ***** and tow vehicle back to dealer in an attempt to return purchased car. sales man reminds me i bought it as is and says it needs to be taken to a mechanic for inspection. ****, the ***** ran great while it was in our possession, you test drove the car yourself for more than half hour. We had no knowledge of the engine block being patched unless it was taken apart which there was no reason for since the car ran great. We never recommended a muffler shop to do the repairs, we suggested a certified local mechanic shop for the engine swap which would be more cost efficient than taking it to a ****** dealership. We made it clear to you the car was sold as is. We offered you a warranty that would cover engine or transmission which you declined. You knew the gamble of taking an 11 year old car with over 246,000 miles for a 6 hour trip up north. We do our best to be as honest and transparent if the car has any issues. The only known issue we knew was the bad battery, which was replaced with a brand new one before you left the lot. I (Luis) never made any hostile demands to take the review down. We found several used engines ranging from $1,100 - $3,000 , and labor cost from certified mechanic shops estimated 11 hours of repair at around $1,100 for an engine swap. Ed at his own discretion offered to help with $2,000 to help pay for an engine replacement.
