I took my car to Autolab in Mount Pleasant on 04/20/2023 to have the ** fixed. I was quoted roughly ~$280 for diagnostic work and repair. I was not provided with a written estimate, only asked to sign their copy of the estimate, which is a violation of ********e (A) of ********'s ********************* and Repair Act of ****. A few hours after leaving my car in their care, I received a phone call saying my vehicle requires a special type of freon that would now cost me ~$360. I request them to not continue work on my vehicle because I knew other facilities were cheaper. I returned to the shop where they refused to return my vehicle until I pay $51.89 for repairs already performed. No repairs were performed, all they did was determine that my vehicle requires a special type of freon, which Autozone did in a matter of seconds and for free. Since I was already at a loss, I let them continue to fix my car on 04/27/2023. I was charged and additional $317.75 dollars for the repairs. The report asserted that there were no freon leaks and the compressor was operational. 6 days later, my ** no longer blew cold air. I contacted the shop about the faulty repair and they informed me that they would only performed another diagnostic test and refill with freon for an additional $350. I took my car the ****************** where it was determined that the compressor was non-functional and a degraded suction hose was causing the leak. These repairs were covered on an extended warranty that Autolab did not inform me of and made no effort to investigate. The diagnostic work that was performed was poor if it was every truly performed. This facility has refused to take corrective actions to resolve any issues that resulted from their actions.
