My house is a modular that was purchased and placed on our property in 2019. We had many issues with Clark modular homes not finishing required work, delayed readiness of home and overcharges not reported to us or refunded until they were called out on it. Our current issue is a roof leak into our laundry room. They are flat out denying any responsibility. I feel strongly a three year old roof should not be leaking.

This complaint has been resolved. We have repaired the leak as a courtesy to the customer on 9/22/22. We will be returning to the home to repair the stained ceiling. The home has been out of warranty for a couple years. The home owner's manual states that the roof should be inspected once a year and maintained accordingly. The response to the customer upon receiving the phone call was answered per the warranty policy. We do believe the customer is satisfied with our repair and had said they would contact you.

      Thank you,

      ***** Clark

My parents bought a modular from Clarks Manufactured homes in *************** and within this last year the shingles on there roof have blown off and they have leaks in there home . My mom contacted Clarks with no help from them at all. Only to be told there is nothing they can do . My mom hired a couple roofers to look at the existing shingles on the roof only to be told they were put on wrong. So now with no help or contact from Clarks its going to cost $10,000. for a roof that should not have to be replaced for another 10 years or so . Such bad costumer service to not even answer a letter about the roof that was sent to them. Small claims court is going to have to be the next step in this horrible experience with Clarks.

      Business response

      03/16/2022

In response to the complaint from ************************* regarding the ********************* roof. We had mailed a response letter to ********************* on February 7, 2022. The letter was resent certified March 7,2022. The receipt has been signed and returned to us.
Clarks sent a contractor to the site to inspect the roof. The majority of the roof shingles are in good condition other than the sections that have been repaired by others. There are no signs of damage in the attic. There have been replacements and repairs to the shingles by others due to blow off on the west side in recent months. We are not sure as to why these leaks have occurred since shingles have been replaced and someone has covered areas with what looks like clear caulk, tar and flex seal.  The area Clark service had performed work in 2016 is not an area of question. This roof can be repaired with replacement shingles. A full replacement is not necessary.  The customer has been given the shingle information and where they can be purchased. ***** ******* has declined to cover this issue under warranty due to the age of the home and shingle blow off is not warranty at any time. If this roof had been leaking since 2016 there would be severe damage. We have advised ********************* and ************************* to contact their insurance company. Shingles blowing off 5-6 years later is due to extreme wind force. We have several pictures from the contractor available upon request.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: its not the shingles that is the problem its what was put on underneath and how the shingles were attached. Its horribly done thats why the shingles have blown off and there are leaks . They need to look at this roof again and whats underneath the shingles . They are cheap shingles and this is a roof that was poorly put together we will peruse this with small claims court. Again its not the shingles its what is underneath the shingles . We have lots of pictures to provide proof .

      Sincerely,

      *************************
