You need to know that Clark Homes and Malley Construction are owned by the same person. They will recommend even strongly recommend that you use Malley Construction as the builder for the foundation, etc. In my case they did not disclose this information. The owner of both companies is Tonya at Clarks, her husband runs and overseas Malley Construction. They will also strongly recommend or even require that you use an escrow company for all funds, they will also have a recommendation for that. Fortunately, I did not use an escrow company. A decision that saved me at least 100,000 dollars. Just like so many of the negative reviews on here and on Google, we had multiple issues with them trying to build the foundation. They failed multiple inspections. At the end they never did finish the project as I refused to continue to send them money as prices and estimates kept changing and deadlines continued to come and go. Whenever there is a problem, they will blame you or your "site conditions".

      Clark Modular Homes Response

      01/26/2022

In response to your review and comments, we would like to share with the General Public some information that is missing from this review. Clark Modular Homes is a Family-Owned and Operated business. And yes, we are our own General Contractor. But our customers do have the option to be their own General Contractor or hire their own Contractors, in fact we have quite a few customers who are doing so now. As far as using an escrow company, on our cash contracts we request a Title Office to be used if the Customer will not pre-pay for construction funds. You said you were going to pre-pay (you even signed an agreement stating so) and did not want to utilize a Title Office. But yes, we do have a Title Office we recommend just to make the process easier.

We tore down our lot model to bring the home for set on your property, but you refused to pay for the home. After multiple attempts, we decided to cancel your project. It is not often we actually cancel a project. We cannot continue a project without payment, especially payment on an entire house.

The property you had, required extensive permits from your City, which took an extreme amount of time. You had removed an existing home prior to us beginning construction on the site. When we began construction, we found out you had a sink hole on your property because the previous home was not properly removed. We had to hire engineers to re-evaluate the property. We installed your foundation per the requirements issued to us by the City and Engineers. And with that, yes pricing did change as requirements were different. Once complete, we were ready to set the home but like you said you refused to send us money. In turn, we cancelled your project. You also failed to mention here that you tried to take us to court, but we won that battle because we did nothing wrong. You failed to pay for the contract signed by yourself. The court actually had you pay us part of what was due.

Unfortunately, there are two sides to every story and we have no problem sharing ours.
