Mr. ******************** was hired to replace the electric panel in our vacation home. There was a controller for electric heat that was no longer being used. We asked that the controller be removed as we had installed a gas furnace and no longer used the electric heat. They removed the controller then took the wiring in the controllers that ran the heaters and directly connected them to a breaker. Since the controller was removed the electric heaters hooked up directly to a breaker ran for 1.5 months in the summer with the A/C also running trying to maintain a temperature of 78 degrees. Due to family commitments we were not at the home during this time. The result was much higher than normal electric bills. Their work also failed inspection twice.

Upon review of the original quote and final invoice, the summary of work that the customer authorized does not state removal of any existing circuits that were terminated in the main electrical panel or terminated in auxiliary electrical boxes in connection with the main electrical panel.
He also signed an acknowledgement form stating: Acceptance of work performed: I find the service and materials performed & installed have been completed in accordance with this agreement.
Also, under the authorization form he signed, it states Customer has 12 hours from performance of any work to notify Mr. ******************** if power is off or if any malfunction of power to any appliance or equipment or circuit or area of home or building or property as well as if power is existing where there should not be power. If notification is not received by phone call to ************ within 12 hours then customer assumes all responsibility for any and all damages and/or losses.
We did not receive any communication from him within 12 hours of final installation informing us that any equipment was not working as it should be.

If individual circuits were to not be re-energized after installation, unless noted in the summary, it is the customers responsibility to ensure that these circuits are not energized at the breaker.
Any and all existing circuits, unless otherwise noted in the summary, are terminated in the new electrical panel upon installation.
All breakers are turned on once install is complete and appropriate voltage is verified at the breaker.

Our electrician stated that majority of the circuits within the existing electrical panel were base board heaters, which were to be terminated into the new electrical panel.
Our electricians are not familiar with the house and how your service equipment functions/controls beyond the electrical panel, thus meaning they would have no knowledge of any electric heaters running after service is complete.

We apologize for the correction notices we received on our initial install. Our electricians returned back to your property and corrected the findings to an approved status in timely manner.

I am rejecting this response because:

You removed a control panel that controlled the heaters to be disconnected then took the wiring out of that control box and hard wired them to a circuit breaker.  What would a qualified electrician think would happen if you remove the controls that regulate the heaters then hard wire those heaters to the main panel?  If it was not in the contract to disconnect the heaters in question, why did you remove the control panel for them?  It's obvious by your lack of communication that you don't care about your customers.

      Sincerely,

      *************************
