I hired superior builders **** on 9/28/22 with a $5k deposit for roof replacement. I was told they would complete the job within 6 weeks but kept getting rescheduled, and no show. Because they didnt do the work then, I had to hold off on listing my home until The work was done in 2023. Finally in April 2023 the job was completed and I paid the remainder of $5358 on 5/8/23.I listed my home for sale 2 weeks ago and got an offer of $340,000 but during the home inspection this week, it was discovered there are aprox 60 shingles on The north side of the roof that are not laying properly so the buyer rescinded her offer. When I contacted superior builders they said they would send someone that day to out to assess, which they did. The roofer said he would replace those tiles and needed to get supplies. He did not come back. I was also told by supererior that they did not get a final inspection on the project but scheduled one on that day for 6/28/23. I received an email from superior today stating it was a priority for the roofers to fix the issue today and they would be out asap. At aprox 4 pm, I called superior and was told someone was on the way but again nobody showed up.Business response

We, Superior Builders, have followed up on the complaint by the homeowner. A crew did go on site and re-do shingles that homeowner had issues with. We also explained to homeowner that it takes time for asphalt shingles to cure or temper (to lay flat). That the shingles need time (and heat) to settle when they are new. The inspection record from the "city" reflects that the roof passed inspection. To our current knowledge, we have satisfied homeowner regarding the complaint.Initial Complaint

In August of 2021 we had a hail storm that caused damage to the roof. Superior Builders was supposed to replace half of the roof as deemed by insurance. I told them to match the other half. Now half the roof is new and does not match causing my roof to look bad. I have tried to contact the representative on many occasions and I rarely get any kind of reply. When I do get a reply he promises to get it taken care of and then dodges my texts and calls when I try to get it set up. They tried to bill my insurance a second time to replace the other half and fix their mistake. I have been fighting them to get the work fixed for several months now and they just keep ignoring me. I just want my roof to match so that it doesn't affect my property value.Business response

The work done for homeowner is under an insurance restoration proceeds agreement. This agreement (which homeowner signed) states that we do the work based on what the insurance company will confirm payment for to complete. We went "back and forth" with the insurance company to try to get a complete roof for the homeowner. (We sent in a "supplement" to insurance requesting homeowners claim estimate be increased to full roof coverage - this is completely different than an invoice). ***************************** in response to us, was not willing to cover the additional slopes of his home. The reason given by insurance that they would not cover the additional slopes under hail damage or uniformity is because (a) the slopes were "undamaged" per insurance and (b) he already had shingles on his roof on those slopes that were not the same color (there are areas where "green" shingles are used as replacement on his "black' roof - have photo documentation of this). As the mismatching of shingles already existed when homeowner filed his claim and insurance was aware of it, we could not fight for matching clause. On property value being affected, there already existed the mis-match prior to any work being done by our company.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
After one phone call and one visit from insurance, I got them to agree to replace the rest of the roof. So if they went "back and forth" they must not have tried very hard. Also, they didn't address the fact that they have been actively avoiding my attempts at contact. They have been making zero effort to help resolve the issues I've mentioned about the quality of work. They also blamed me for them showing up with the wrong color and style of shingles. With no attempt to make any of it right. No sample shingle was left behind either so matching will be more difficult to fix it now. With insurance covering the remainder of the roof we are going to use a different company to fix and finish the roof. I just don't think it's right that a company can act and operate this way, treating their customers as they have and be able to move on with no repercussions. I no longer want anything from this company because we will be using a different company to fix their mistakes.Business response

We are happy to hear that ** was able to get his insurance to pay for the other two sides of roofing. We are sorry he feels we did not try hard enough with his insurance company to get this accomplished. During the "back and forth" we had with his insurance company, we were able to increase his original insurance payout by $5,000.00 which enabled him to get a full siding replacement, which he had also asked us to work for. We were simply unable to get his insurance, at that time, to pay for the additional two sides of roofing. We received no indication from the homeowner about the actual quality of the work (workmanship, materials, etc). The only issue has been the difference in color of the shingles. There has never been any hiding of the fact that the shingles did not match. This was explained to the homeowner before he signed off on the color he chose on the contract we did with him. At this time, as we have done all the work under the existing contract according to the insurance paperwork that we have with the homeowner and as the homeowner has stated they will find another company to replace the remaining two sides of roofing, we will finish our paperwork and forward it to his insurance company and to the homeowner.
