I had Gardner Construction, Inc. redo my old window wells and put in 3 glass block windows (did a Great job). I also had them regrade part of the driveway so water would drain away from my house foundation (once again, Great job !). 6 years have gone by and over time I thought some of the concrete edges would settle and even up with the old concrete (not real noticeable) and every winter I forget about the old and new concrete slabs in 2 small areas not being level with each other and bang into that edge with my snowblower or a shovel. I finally decided after 6 years to call Gardner to see if they could grind the concrete down in those 2 small areas. The person I talked to had a concern that it might weaken the concrete in that area and said he'd send someone to look at it and see what could be done. Within less than an hour Rory showed up, looked at it and "we decided" the small amount that needed to be ground down should be no problem to do right then and there and should not weaken the concrete, and at NO COST to me ! The end result was GREAT, better than I expected. I am very happy!!! I should have called sooner.

Up until the past year I would have given Gardner Construction a very high review. We had used them for foundation reinforcement, a new concrete stamped patio, two door stoops and 90' of sidewalk. We also had them remove and existing 30' long retianing wall and install a new one approximately 20 years ago. Last year we noticed the wall was starting to bow and had Gardner out to discuss repair. After review by the sales person we were told Gardner does not do retaining walls anymore and would not stand behind their work. I fully understand that a retaining wall does not last forever and we were willing to work with the contractor on sharing the expense or coming up with a agreeable solution for repair. Bottom line - they did not stand behind their work. Troubling to us is the fact we had spent tens of thosands of dollars with them previoulsy and left with no alternative but to start over with a new contactor --- not named Gardner. The company has new ownership and staff since the original work was completed in 2010 and retaining walls are no longer a focus of our business, nor our area of greatest expertise. We weren't the right contractors for this project and we responded to the inquiry directly and honestly.Gardner Construction absolutely stands by our work. A business providing a different set of services a decade later is not the same as refusing to stand by our work. Our sales staff won't bid something we can't stand behind and that is why we wouldn't take this job.Repeated postings of this same review in multiple forums will not change our willingness to take on projects for which we are not suited.
