Had my vintage Lincoln repaired August 20-29, -2024, Initially for Head gasket assumed issues, and it would kill while close to Home so not used. paid $600 to tow to the Racine repair 80 miles from home, took a movie of car when placed on flatbed to move to Racine. Arrived and place in driveway of business, car was clean many patrons and mechanics walked around and liked. Spoke to Jason the owner and gave him what was happening, antifreeze leak and stalling. Spoke few days later and he explained that no head gaskets need repair, just all the hoses around water pump and the heater core. But the carburetor needed rebuild and it would be sent to St. Paul for repair. Also the horn needed fixing due to short from a piece of plastic. The issue was he had stalled out the Lincoln on country roads with no shoulder and they tried to start and drained the battery, Thus had to get moved, they pulled and pushed the car back to shop. All complete 1,181.00 was bill, 1,000 less than quote to do a head gasket repair, which probably not good for individual hope on income. so 9 days later and Friday afternoon I got a 80 mile ride to pickup finished car.I got there looked at car there was 5-8 drops of sticky stuff on hood of car, back bumper was dirty and marked by left tail light. The license plate slightly pulled out and back bumper had enough pressure to damage chrome, the sticky stuff was tacky and still like wet which was in the clear coat of the paint. labor day weekend and owner was gone and the 2 mechanics close I drive into Elk River and me and my cousin Carol looked the car, I drove back 80 miles in my new car to Racine and told owner and he claimed all very old bumper were grainy, and sticky stuff tree sap. I told him this happened at shop, but no one knows anything or saw anything so nothing occurred. I told him i was taking to auto repair for estimates. called Elk River Police and they said no one saw or admits to a crime they cant do anything, go to small claims court

The vehicle was towed to our shop on an open transport, an inspection of the vehicle was not done upon drop off by the client, the vehicle was never pushed, it was towed with a strap after the carburetor flooded the engine with fuel on our test drive, thus the front license plate got a slight bend from the  tow strap. The vehicle sat in a space with no parking around it the duration of the stay, its unkown if the black substance the customer speaks of were obtained on the 80 mile tow here or the 80 plus miles the vehicle was driven from here when the customer picked it up. Nothing at the shop touched or could have touched the rear bumper to cause the scratches the customer states are on the bumper. We spoke with the customer's insurance company and gave them the facts that we knew and the time line of us being notified, their decision was that there wasn't any fault on our part. The vehicle was transported 80 miles on open transport flatbed, driven one mile while at out shop, then driven 80 miles plus by the customer before these items were noticed , we received no calls from the customer, but a visit 72 hrs later. We do not see how these items occurred while at our business.
