We are an *** in ********* that signed a contract with Speedcutters for lawn/snow/irrigation maintenance. This was to start in April 2022. They did a spring clean up which involved mowing and trimming and etc. Some members of the association spoke with the mowers and trimmers about what they were doing and concerns they had about the lawns. The homeowners wanted the sprinklers turned on because it had been so dry. That was not done even though Speedcutters said they would be out over the weekend to do so. They didn't show up to turn on the irrigation system until late Monday after mowing again. With the use of too much fertilizer and no water, the lawn is basically dead in many areas. When Speedcutters was contacted by the *** their reply was to submit a 30 day notice to terminate the contract. They are still under contract until the end of June but have made no attempt to fix the problem they created nor will they even speak to us.

      Business response

      06/14/2022

      Dear Ashley,

We agree that we entered into a contract with Tall ***************** and their President and spokesperson ************************* for 2022.  In discussions with the President and subsequent other people including **** we agreed verbally that the best forms of communication were via email or text to a hotline that we have setup for our customers by 3 key people in their organization.  We also agreed that having 26 residents tell our crew what to do was not good business and the wrong form of communication.  This communication medium we employed are standard for most HOAs.

We did do a spring cleanup and that included fertilizing and crabgrass control per our contract and product guidelines.  We also started the irrigation system as part of our contractual agreement.  On May 19th we sent an email out about changing our mow schedule and turning on the irrigation but the lack of urgency based on large amounts of rain we had had over the last week.  ****** responded thanks and did not refute our plans.  We have been open and have attended several meetings called by Tall Pines previous to this complaint.

We did hear from the board and subsequently turned the water up as directed on the 24th after a discussion with the President of the *****, ******.  We refute that the lawn is dead and know that a couple of parts have gone dormant but are not dead.  We also refute that we refuse to communicate since we have responded to several emails from ****** and Sonde the person in charge of the lawn.  Speedcutters has been in business 18 years and developed many relationships with ***** of ********* over the years.  We made every attempt to communicate wisely with this board and put our best foot forward to take care of their property.  It comes down to numbers and complaints for us.  The day in question that **** brings up 20% of their residents approached our crew and were less than pleasant.  When you only have ******** total that average over time is not one that a good relationship is built on.  Based on many factors in business this spring we felt excercising our 30 day out clause was best for both parties.

      Thank you,

      ***********************
